I enjoy your videos. They are thoughtful and balanced. I began living in Kigali in November and I think I may have found an answer to the staring issue. I've had clothes made by talented tailors and seamstresses at my local market (Kimironko). When I wear my African dresses people on the street speak Kinyarwandan to me. They don't stare, but I haven't a clue what they are saying other than the typical greetings - which poses its own problem. I'm learning Kinyarwandan, but clearly I'm not there yet. And I am retired. It's a great place.

Hi Willie I'm enjoying your videos. As someone of Nigerian heritage who has recently downsized, semi retired and relocated to Abuja by way of Lagos I really get more for my pension than if I stayed in the UK. Eventually I intend to spend several months a year in different locations in Africa. As an Urbanite it has to be cities for me and Kigali is on the list either this year or next year. And the food thing is there is an affordable direct flight to Kigali from Abuja.
The only major complaint I have of Abuja is sometimes it can get boring. Apart from eating and drinking at numerous good bars, gardens and other joints there isn't a varied entertainment life. I guess I've been spoiled living in Europe.
What's the entertainment life like in Kigali.
As such my ideal cities for a more varied entertainment and social life would be the big cities in South Africa and that's why I now plan to spend the months of December and early January exploring Southern Africa.

What is wrong with Willie? Kigali beat Abuja in terms of cleanliness only. Kigali can only be compared to Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Kigali can't afford to build the overpasses we have in Port Harcourt. Kigali was a beat down city simply undergoing reconstruction and beautification.
My uncle has visited has visited many countries in the world, including Rwanda. He watched your video and said that you're simply trying to hype Kigali, simply because you feel welcomed in the city.
The Kigali CBD is clean. And that is the only nice place in Kigali. Apart from the Kigali CBD, the other neighborhoods in Kigali don't have sidewalks.
What infrastructure does Kigali, a small city with a few paved roads have compared to Abuja?
What urban planning are you talking about? Do you think the well arranged CBD in Kigali makes it ahead of Abuja?
My cousin finished his studies in South Africa, and he confessed that Abuja is ahead of Cape Town in terms of city planning and road designs.

🌷May I share an Old Testament Verse with you from Daniel 7:14 "And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a Kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should SERVE Him; his dominion is an Everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed." Also, can I share Isaiah 53:5 " But HE was WOUNDED For our TRANSGRESSIONS, he was BRUISED for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His STRIPES we are HEALED."
God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin. Then, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Holy and Sinless Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus (Y'shua is His Hebrew Name) and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?❤🌸🐞

Simple if you want to retire go to Rwanda and if you really want to enjoy night life etc go to Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa , DRC etc.

I agree, I have been to both places and in fact left Kigali early to go to Abuja. I think Abuja as a city is actually better planned. Where the city falls down, is in the maintenance and continuing to build according to the original Abuja Masterplan, because Abuja is not yet completed. There are 3 more phases of the 4 phases in the Masterplan. Kigali is clean though and they have a culture of keeping it tidy, even though I barely saw a trash can, which means it's the behaviour of the citizens that keep it clean. In Abuja I've seen people through litter on the floor while standing near to a trash can. I must say, this was not the case when I first visited Nigeria. They had a robust system of cleaning the city and people generally did not litter. I now live in Abuja and visit my home town of London, yearly.
