- Coming out of the shadows of the 1994 Genocide, Rwanda has risen like a Phoenix, strong and powerful. There is so much more to Rwanda than Gorillas. It is one of the most incredible Countries I have visited, with amazing people, breathtaking nature, culture, and hospitality. This is what should do and not do when they visit Rwanda. From respecting their ranking as one of the cleanest Countries in Africa and the world to trying to be a blessing are some important tourist do' and don'ts before you visit Rwanda.

No Thank you for having such a beautiful and welcoming Country
How we spread the blessings 😁
I love when people came and say oh Rwandans are sad according to this report bla blah... Who published that report! The western right? And you are tight dont ask about what we are (trying to refer to Hutu/Tutsi/Twa) because those are classes bought by colonialists we had tribes before those(Abazigaba,Abatsobe) so educate yourself while you are here. And kudos to you my sister i agree with you
I like point number 6. don't ask that question for sure.

All you said it’s true

In a month and you managed to understand Rwand this well , thank you . much love . wish all people are like you regardless the fact they've spent more time here and they still don't got Rwanda🇷🇼🇷🇼
I had some great teachers in Rwandam, plus I asked 5,000 questions like a toddler lol
I like this video very informative😂
Thank you sir
Thank you for sharing this message. About the Alleegies most african countries don,t know about those allergies so they eat everything and they are rarely affected i think its because of adoptation and they start when they are young so it,s heard to tell which or what allergies one have. Like personally i got to learn about allergies when i was in my 30,s so we did not have knowledge about that until modernization about almost everything dawned on our countries!
I really think its a Western thing :(
I love you
100%
7:58 *Stop encouraging locals to overcharge foreigners. Foreigners should be charged same price as locals. If you want bless them , just tip them. You are minimizing the extra $$ they can charge but it adds up overtime . Rn 1$ is almost 1400 frw. Plus KGL is super expensive. Anyways thanks ,Good video overall*
true and when they get used to such habits of over pricing, it becomes their culture. Bargaining is no shame, bcoz it is one way of saving for groceries
In no way am I encouraging. But we act as though this is not the culture around the world. Why is it that people don't spend the same energy to complain about the fact that to enter a national park, museum etc..in most African Countries as well as other Countries ie: China etc.. Nyungwe National Park charges locals 5,000 RWF and Foreign nonresidents $90, do you think that's unfair, we pay it as a tourist (I personally think its a bit excessive) yet we will haggle over .50 cent or a dollar🤔 I'm just saying make it make sense. You go to the airport and you pay 5 times the cost for a bottle of water, and lots of tourists do, but complain about .50 or $1... We walk around accepting that there are extortion-level price markups in a fancy restaurant where we pay 3x the cost for a bottle of water, but we pay it. I could go on and on... yet we draw the line in the sand for the hardworking moto drivers, waiters, hotel staff etc... The ones who need it most I just don't get it, respectfully. Just help me make it make sense. I was taught "There but for the grace of god goes I"
@@adventurousmidlifer This response was an instant subscribe from me. I agree with everything you said. You lead with empathy and compassion. I respect that. Sincerely, a Rwandan sister. And if you're not adopted yet, I'll adopt you :).
Yes, we are quiet and don't eat in the street.

Double the fare. Amen
I mean if yo ass is traveling you can afford to double😆
Hey
U can ask someone ethnicity if
U v become acquainted to them or
Became friends
Not on 1st day
Nothing will ever take the ethnic differences away
Unless all tutsis intermarry with hutu
I agree... but some tourist be like "oh he gave me a moto ride let me ask" :(😥
@adventurousmidlifer 90% of rwanda people are hutu
So no need to ask
Due to the genocide in 94 that decimated 70 % of the tutsis!!
It is better to downplay the ethnicities
People still know who they are
But they would rather focus
On development that u witness
@adventurousmidlifer 90% of moto drivers are hutus maybe 95
Bigogwe with the cows u were among tutsis
Banana wine u were with hutus
Certain jobs tutsis would rarely do
If u stay there 6 months
U will know our physical differences
Which the government is working hard
To downplay by telling people
To be quiet and encouraging foreigners to move in
I am Rwandan but i stayed to see those dos and don'ts 😂 and they happened to be things that we live by I didn't know that its a big deal to you guys 🤣
Oh absolutely, because I WISH we could have a clean Country as a whole not just certain areas, I wish we could have a sense of community and accountability...I could go on and on. No place is perfect, but Rwanda is doing some things that should e duplicated around the world
It's ok you can ask me about my tribe I will tell you who I am that is not a problem, the fact that I am Rwandan does not take away my tribe, but again you gotta have a reason why you want to know that,i think the fact that you know i am Rwandan that's enough for a foreigner because when I go to another african country i do not go around asking for their tribe though i know they have it,i feel like knowing the tribe you are should only stay withing the natives of that country, but again i do not care if you ask me my tribe i will tell you,i know in our country some had made it a taboo mainly because a bunch are not proud of their tribe because of the innocent blood they shed of the other tribe and they do not want people to view them in that mirror calling them killers so they push so hard the narrative of the government that tribes do not exist and get very offended if they hear anyone mentioning their own tribe because that would cancel out the narrative of the non existence of tribes thus would reveal their tribe they do not want others to know but that's their problem, nothing can make me deny my tribe just because someone else is not proud of theirs or just because the government has pushed the false narrative that tribes don't exist, anyone pushing that narrative has an agenda and a bad one for that, there is nothing good comes out of denying who you are, anyways at homes we all say who we are,it is just in public that's where people do not say it but as a foreigner when you befriend someone here and ask them they would tell you especially if they do not belong to the one that shed innocent blood.
I agree with you 100%. There are things unsaid that will tell you if a person is a tribesman/woman lol. I think when foreigners ask this question it is because we heard or read something, not for any genuine reason other than we are genuinely nosey lol
Nothing to be of proud my dear i knew my tribe when i was 17 yrs but it was a mess, seeing everyone i meet with and then classify mn that's shit but a good advice don't be too proud to even encourage your children to get deep in it cz nothing positive inside. at home we didn't have a conversation like that. I'm from innocent tribe but what I'm proud of ndumunyarwanda we are Rwandans that's the generation we want in the future
Visa is no more it’s all free now
Americans still need to complete E-Visa application and pay $90 for 30 Days tourist Visa
The only fast food place here in Rwanda is kfc
not me watching this whole video curiously as if i am not Rwandese
Listen, I LOVE YOUR COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@adventurousmidlifer thank you! where are you from?
No way_ don't tell your friends to allow over ,costing because they are foreigners. If you tell them to stop bargaining then you are breeding bad manners. If the hotel alerts you about the tarrifs; why allow them to be over charged? If you want them to have blessings let them donate to orphages
do foreigners pay more to enter museums, National Parks etc....
Please can you join me in about real estate 🙏
Lease hold, can never own your property
Ghx mm
Rwanda is an apartheid where tutsi have all and hutu and twa have nothing, that's why the tutsi elite do not want to see how the tutsi are a minority that dominate all areas of economic and social aspects. People knows who they are and remember we still have tutsi genocide survivors
