that was hilarious how Barry tried to get the jump on Superman unaware that he could move twice as fast as him to the point where he saw Barry coming from behind him
Wonder Woman (2017) remains my favorite, closely followed by Batman v Superman. These have the best narrative integration of characters in the plot. And with Wonder Woman in particular, the combination of the strong point-of-view in the narrative and the focus on building emotional momentum in the direction just made the story way more emotionally impactful.
If Superman and Wonder Woman are on the same power level then why the heck would they need Superman back. The entire team fought him and lost badly, he literally took on all 3 of them in the flash slowmo scene.
They guy you saw who was cloaking himself as Clark's mom was the Martian Manhunter. He is the last of his race, and has some powers other Justice League members lack.
When it comes to the comics, out of all the superheroes shown in the movie, Martian Manhunter is generally considered the apex. Superman is second, with Wonder Woman third. However, Wonder Woman has beaten and even killed Superman before in different timelines, so their power level is pretty fluctuating. Martian Manhunter is the strongest however. Sadly, this is the end of what could have been an incredible overarching storyline throughout multiple movies. While a few of the remaining movies briefly touch on this world, they are basically detached, separate movies that don't have any semblance on what was being built up. The greatest problem with DC was that it didn't have any faith in itself. It listened to critics and tried to adapt itself instead of sticking to the darker-edge storytelling that made it great. It tried to 'Marvel-ise' itself, while Marvel, ironically, took a page from DC and went darker, at least for its best movies. It was the fans that killed the franchise, not the movies...
Shazam was a breath of fresh air after the disappointment of Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad. It stood out with its lighter tone, offering a fun experience that didn’t rely on a dark, edgy atmosphere. Also, "The darker-edge storytelling that made it great" is actually the opposite of how a lot of people felt about Zack Snyder's take on the DC universe. It played into the misconception that DC is inherently darker than Marvel, which is far from true. Marvel has its own share of dark stories, and they didn’t take a page from DC when they went dark, it’s simply part of their storytelling range as well. I'm so glad we've moved away from the darker-edged storytelling. We can still have stories like that, but they need to fit the characters. if everything leans into a dark, edgy tone, it just turns everyone into Batman. That's the last thing we need for a whole universe, and I'm glad we're getting a nice range of tones and styles with the new DCU. It's another reason why X-Men: First Class (2011) was so loved after so many years of dark, edgy 2000s X-Men films.
@@ThyMasterofMagnetism Batman v Superman made over twice as much as Shazam. (And let's not even bother talking about Aquaman, which made over three times as much.) Even Justice League, coming off the negative reaction to Batman v Superman, made nearly double the amount that Shazam did. I adored the movie Shazam, but let's not kid ourselves about its performance.
@@MAMoreno I wasn’t talking about its box office performance, but rather the overall reaction to the film’s change in direction. It makes perfect sense that a Shazam! movie (starring a character most people aren’t familiar with) would make less than Batman v Superman. But as a film, it was a much better reflection of its character, fully embracing the teenage, lighthearted nature of Shazam. Meanwhile, Batman v Superman struggled to deliver a strong depiction of either Batman or Superman, leaning into an overly edgy narrative with no real contrast between the two, even visually.
Martha Kent was really the Martian Manhunter, who had been disguised as the general in Man of Steel. The Flash has super fast healing. And Ryan Choi, the assistant of Victor/Cyborg's father becomes The Atom. Just FYI.
I'm going to request that you **not** watch the 2017 Justice League movie. "For Autumn" refers to his daughter's s**cide. He had finished filming and was working on post-production when she died, and he left to be with his family. WB said they were just going to finish up post-production, that the movie would be "95% Zack Snyder"; but instead, they basically shot a whole new movie. They changed the story, they cut a lot of characters, they added in new characters, they added new dialogue and scenes that changed characters' motivations and personalities, they even used a different score and soundtrack for the movie. JL 2017 is nothing like ZSJL. And that's not even the worst of it. Joss Whedon, the director they brought in to remake the movie, was a tyrant to the cast. He tried to force Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman, to do a scene where the Flash falls face-first into her breasts; and even though he threatened her (yes, he threatened Gal Gadot), she wouldn't film the scene, so he just went ahead and filmed it with her stunt double. He was abusive, dismissive, just downright awful in general to the cast and crew. There is no reason to ever watch the Frankenstein's monster of a movie they created in the six months between the time Zack left to be with his family and the time the movie was released in theaters. Zack himself hasn't even watched it. Trying to remake that movie after he left is probably the worst decision, as a studio, that Warner Brothers has ever made. Please don't watch it, even to compare it to this one.
I love that superman is the goat in the Synder cut and you see he's full power. And the bit where he takes the hit from the axe and shrugs it off then just goes god mode on Stefenwolf has got to be the best entrance in a movie. It really shows why they had to wait for superman to be gone before invading.
Watching the theatrical release just puts the Snyder version in better perspective. It would have been difficult to do a 4hr theater release but the backstory of the characters who did not get that in the theatrical release is much more satisfying.
- 7:49 - Meet J'onn J'onez...the last Martian...The Martian Manhunter is one of the few DC heroes who is probably the equal of Superman in many ways. Except in the DCEU, he is General, now Secretary of Defense Calvin Stanwick. - The guy who meets with Luther is Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke. In a way, Slade inspired Wade Wilson/Deadpool for Marvel. Both are mercenaries, but where Deadpool can be a joker, Slade is almost always deadly serious. In this, Slade was played by Joe Manganiello.
Superman never died, it's just his cell seriously damaged by doomsday. In comics & animation movies, Superman came back to life by himself, because earth's sun helps him to recover from any damage. Zack showed here they just boosted the process quicker by motherbox, just to show team's importance. Plus they needed Superman immediately to Stop Stephen wolf, Since he is the most powerful hero of their team.
The Flash is crazy powerful. He can travel through time and to other realities. Wonder Woman's bracers actually inhibit her strength. She wears them because she can't control her full power. Superman believes that without her bracers, she's stronger than he is. WB isn't going to use ZSJL as the future of the DCEU, so there's no harm in spoiling: the anti-life equation gives the user the ability to control others' minds, which is why Darkseid wants it. With it, he bends Superman to his will and that's the future you keep seeing throughout the movie.
@@chrismeulen8108 wow are you dumb... A bracer is a strap or guard that protects the wrist or arm, which is predominantly used by archers. So - before you correct someone maybe actually know what you're talking about.
It wasn't a "possible" future. It was going to be the future. Remember, the Kryptonian ship warned the League not to wake the box, but in doing so, the vision of the future that Cyborg saw has taken roots in the present.
Joss-tice League was a tepid popcorn movie, andin it Flash and Cyborg were mainly just tokens. Not Whedon's fault he inherited such a tremendous project and little time to perfect it. The "Snyder cut" was more than just epic. In it, Flash and Cyborg were both absolutely pivotal. They mattered. And THAT is epic. Thanks for another great reaction. Always a fan.
25:24 Yes, the Flash(es) do have healing powers... Kinda... They heal faster, but only to the standards of normal human healing. This resulted in an absolutely BRUTAL scene in a run of Teen Titans where Impulse (Flash's grandson from the future) catches a shotgun blast to the knee. He has to be rushed to the hospital for surgery, where he is literally healing WHILE they're operating and gets NO anesthesia since - because of his heightened metabolism - the drugs wear off before they even take effect.
For me, and no one will ever make me change my mind, the best part of this movie is when, after Superman's resurrection, ALL THOSE WITH SUPERPOWERS arrive at the central plaza almost instantly... and Batman shows up like 10 minutes later because he had to run there. I just crack up just thinking about it.
It's generally something that's a bit of a natural joke waiting to happen. Like the scene on one of the Arrowverse crossovers, where Supergirl and Barry are waiting... until Oliver arrives on a motorcycle. He seems slightly angered when he gets off, "Just a quick reminder: Superspeed. I don't have it.". Of course, in situations where they don't want to make fun of it, someone can just carry him. I'm not sure whether they ever went to details on this, but Barry has always been able to zap around while carrying people.
Bask in the beauty of this movie as much as you can because it’s the last of this entire universe, and will not progress further from here 😢 The dreams aren’t a “possible future”, they’re the actual future that we were meant to experience across several more movies that we’ll never get to see; - Justice League Part 2 (partially filmed) - Ben Affleck’s Batman - Man Of Steel 2 - Justice League Part 3 (partially filmed) The studio had zero faith in such mature versions of superhero movies, that they instead handed the keys over to James Gunn, who is making his own child-friendly superhero universe now, while excluding all previous DC superhero movies aswel as Zack Snyder’s.
They where on the right track finally with ZSJL and have now flushed that away. Only to repeat old stories of the past yet again and recast superman. Such fools.
I think you should continue and finish off the DCEU if for no other reason than to suffer as we all did, but you could also just watch The Suicide Squad and call it done. That movie, as well as his work in the MCU, is a great example of why Gunn got control of the new DCEU.
Honestly, I love both Zach Snyder and Joss Whedon, but their styles are radically different, which gave Josstice League a massive case of tonal whiplash.
Joss Whedon was handicapped by an impossible time schedule bc WB refused to move the release date. He was further hampered by the CEO of WB at the time (can't remember his name) who came from DC Comics. Some have theorized that he wanted to take the DCEU away from Snyder in order to start over with his own vision.
@thebkg all that may be true, but that doesn't change the fact that their styles are wildly different. With more time, he might have been able to smooth the edges, true, but it still would have been a noticeable difference.
@@JakkFrost1 I suspect the severity of those changes was more the WB CEO than it was Whedon's intention. Whedon had Zacks script, he could have finished the shoot as it stood since it was nearly finished. Instead he reshot 75% of the movie. Also we have to remember what was going on at that time. Snyder was Green Lit for Justice League before B v S had been released. Then B v S didn't do as well as they were predicting, and it was getting a lot of bad reviews both from critics and audiences. So WB's decision to sign the contract for Snyder on JL was also getting criticized. I absolutely like the Snyder cut over the theatrical release of JL better. The theatrical version was a mess. But overall I think Snyder's vision for a DC Universe was flawed.
Martian Manhunter has been in this since Man of Steel, he was the Colonel all along. If you watch MoS now you see moments where he doesn't flinch etc.. when Superman moves during the interrogation scene. re: Lois pregnancy, I think you missed Lois and Martha carrying the bassinet up the stairs in the final 'bought the bank' scene
In case you're curious about the DCEU moving forward, here are the films that I recommend: Aquaman Shazam! Birds of Prey The Suicide Squad (2021) The first one to be directed by James Gunn, and I believe is the beginning of the soft reboot for the DCEU moving forward. Blue Beetle (Which I also heard will be part of James Gunn's universe moving forward) And I've heard good things about Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. After the theatrical cut of Justice League, they tried to go in a more lighthearted tone moving forward, and these are the films that I've personally liked the most out of it. Great reaction as always Addie! I was really excited for this one! And I'm excited for more reactions moving forward!
yes...power-wise Superman is on a level of his own. Wonder Woman isn't THAT far behind, but far enough that it is easily noticeable...but when you are comparing power levels that are THAT extreme, even significant differences don't seem like that much in comparison!
It was fun seeing someone experience these films while being mostly disconnected from the real-life controversy that was surrounding the films at their release. As many have stated, the "original" DCEU technically ends here, but there's actually a couple directions to take from here if you want to keep watching some DC stuff. Aquaman (2018) was made with the intent to follow this version of JL, so it can actually serve as a nice epilogue should you wish to wave the DCEU goodbye. It's a fun romp. The Flash (2023) is stated as the actual narrative end, and while I enjoyed the film, it is definitely a flawed experience and probably something not everyone will enjoy, but it could serve as a potentially rewarding watch considering your recent DC journey. Then there's The Suicide Squad (2021), which is sorta in continuity with the old DCEU, but is also in continuity with the DCSU (Dc Studios Universe), so it could be a good primer for when the new Superman comes out later this year. (Tis gory though) And of course, as a lot of people have stated, you cannot go wrong with Justice League TAS
You should also watch Aquaman, Aquaman is also a very popular DC comics movie, it made over a billion dollars at the box office when it was released it was directed James Wan who is famous for the Conjuring and Insidious movies
I prefer the Silver Age origin story version of the Martian Manhunter over the more recent interpretations,.....with the sole exception of the "Oreo cookie" habit. That's a keeper from the recent take on the character.
Agreed! DC didn't go downhill after Justice League (actually the theatrical version of JL was the low point). The later movies were mostly quite good, but they didn't move the DC universe forward, because they are mostly just independent stories -- much like the Marvel movies after Endgame.
25:47 It was at this point where I was like "Holy Shit! WTF?!" in shock. Like.. Shocked because.. why on Earth would they cut this out and completely reshoot the scene with what we got in the theatrical release? It's gotta be top 5 in epic live action comic book movie scenes for me. Along there with Thor arriving in Wakanda, the portals, and Quicksilver's Sweet Dreams.
It's funny that you get Martian Manhunter and Green Lantern confused because originally at the end where Bruce talks to him, it was meant to be Green Lantern aka John Stewart. They cast actor Wayne T Carr to play him and shot the scene in Zack's driveway (they also did the same with that Knightmare scene with Joker in the driveway too.) but WB didn't want Zack to use him even though nothing of their DC slate would be effected by the inclusion. Terrific reaction Addie. If you do decide to watch the theatrical, have some drinks cause it's a painful watch especially after seeing the true vision of the film. The only DCEU movie's you can react to if you want would be Aquaman and Birds of Prey. They carry that unique style for their directors standing on their own but having that vibe of this era of the franchise before everything went downhill.
This Zack Snyder's Justice League was supposed to be a trilogy. Film 1 they beat Steppenwolf, Film 2 they loose to Darkseid (you get a glimpse of the the world Darkseid creates in the Joker scene) and Film 3 they beat Darkseid. That would've happened but Warner Bros had no faith and cancelled it. Bit of trivia: that scene with Alfred and Superman was originally supposed to be Green Lantern and Alfred
The only thing you are missing from this version that was in the Theatrical cut, is the fun post credit scene where Superman and The Flash race. Just look it up here on you tube.
Yes. Superman is wearing the gray and black suit. Or maybe it's silver and black. Remember, General Zod wore the same color in Man of Steel as well. But I think Superman wore that color as a reflection of his mood or status quo. Much like people wear black for funerals. Superman is wearing it as a similar sign now that he's resurrected. At least, that's my take on it. Of course, it's also a reflection of the comic books. Superman wore black in his return, followed by the death of Doomsday when they killed each other. -OG
In my opinion I think you should watch Aquaman (2018), Shazam (2019), The Flash (2023), The Suicide Squad (2021), and Peacemaker (2022, TV show). I think they're all solid films/shows and while not neccessary, I think they would be a fun time. Also, The Sucide Squad and Peacemaker tie into James Gunn's new DC Universe so I would recommend those the most :)
Nice reaction. BTW Lois's death doesn't turn Superman evil, per say. He succumbs to the anti-life equation used by Darkseid on him and is being controlled. Of course, Louis' death made him mentally weak. That's why Darkseid kills her first, knowing how powerful Superman really is.. And yes, I guess there are many possible futures where the world looses. This was supposed to come before Avengers Infinity War, btw. Thanks for the reaction.
- A lot of people think that the Green Lantern movie was bad, but personally I love it and watch it at least once a year, so I think it would be worth your while to give it a watch, I certainly think it's great, but everyone has their own personal taste so until you actually watch it yourself, you won't know if it is good, because there really isn't any such thing as a good or bad movie, it all depends on the person watching if they like it or not. I say give it a go, you may be like me and love it.
The ONLY thing the theatrical release had over this one is ONE joke... concerning the lasso of truth, Wonder Woman and Aquaman, It's not a super good joke but Momoa's delivery for it is perfect.
Sadly there is no Justice League part 2, there are a couple of more movies left but this is the end of the Justice League. The DCEU ended in 2023 and it has been rebooted into the DCU with James Gunn (the director of the Guardians movies) spearheading the new DC Universe.
Superman is usually OP everywhere, lol. That’s why he’s called Superman. And as for Cyborg’s heartbreaking story, IIRC, he was one of Zack’s favorite parts of the movie. And they were gonna give him his own movie. I would also at least watch Aquaman. That grossed over a billion dollars at the box office. If you’re attached to or love the characters, might as well finish off the rest of Zack’s movies, despite what other people think about it. You be the judge of that. Whether it’s reacting to it, or on your own time.
@@prion42 Same here. It doesn't always work (like I actually stopped watching Suicide Squad a short time in, and the other one is stilled wrapped in foil), but I generally like to "ignore" stuff that might not be the greatest idea ever, and focus on the fun parts of a movie. Worked for Green Hornet too.

Yay part 2!!!!! ❤ love watching your reactions!
Zach killed it... in the good way
26:21 “At The Speed of Force” by Tom Holkenborg/Junkie XL
I FREAKING LOVE THAT SONG!!!
"What can you do Flashman?" Lol. Best line of the reaction.
Yeah, but you could take on Martian Manhunter by luring him into a room full of Oreos and then catching the room on fire, so....
Idk about that...
but even if I'm wrong, Supes just gotta get under a blue sun 😋
The flash scene at the end was the most epic scene.
Every time WonderWoman appears on-screen: 'WAHAAHEYYYYYHAAAAAAAAAAAA!'
XD
I love that superman is the goat in the Synder cut and you see he's full power. And the bit where he takes the hit from the axe and shrugs it off then just goes god mode on Stefenwolf has got to be the best entrance in a movie. It really shows why they had to wait for superman to be gone before invading.
Such a shame this will never have the trilogy it deserves.
This movie was long enough to be a trilogy by itself.
26:14 The story of The Flash's life. He saves the day by going back in time to fix things and he's the only one who remembers the past
Don't stop with Justice League. There are a handful of great movies left.
With it, he bends Superman to his will and that's the future you keep seeing throughout the movie.
braces* there's no letter r in that word.
@@chrismeulen8108 wow are you dumb... A bracer is a strap or guard that protects the wrist or arm, which is predominantly used by archers. So - before you correct someone maybe actually know what you're talking about.
Superman is always Stronger than wonder woman with or without bracelet its just that he doesnt have same skill and battle iq as her
@@SivaSiva-gg9qeAnd she have a Magical Sword. Superman is weak against magic. And Superman is not smart than Batman. We sow Batman beating Superman.
@chrismeulen: Yes, there is. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bracer
It wasn't a "possible" future. It was going to be the future. Remember, the Kryptonian ship warned the League not to wake the box, but in doing so, the vision of the future that Cyborg saw has taken roots in the present.
The only thing I miss from the theatrical release is Superman's line to Batman after the resurrection.
"You won't let me live. You won't let me die."
Is that a pregnancy test?!
The Pregnancy Test: 🧿👄🧿
Congrats on finishing this $700 million dollar vanity project. The fandom will literally never recover from the damage Snyder did to DC.
Made it interesting?
13:56 "Panic-Mode Addie" is among my favourite Addies. 🤣
“It’ll happen in the future”…
Oh poor naive Addie lol
25:24 Yes, the Flash(es) do have healing powers... Kinda...
They heal faster, but only to the standards of normal human healing. This resulted in an absolutely BRUTAL scene in a run of Teen Titans where Impulse (Flash's grandson from the future) catches a shotgun blast to the knee. He has to be rushed to the hospital for surgery, where he is literally healing WHILE they're operating and gets NO anesthesia since - because of his heightened metabolism - the drugs wear off before they even take effect.
Yes The Green Lantern is a DC character.
Bask in the beauty of this movie as much as you can because it’s the last of this entire universe, and will not progress further from here 😢
The dreams aren’t a “possible future”, they’re the actual future that we were meant to experience across several more movies that we’ll never get to see;
- Justice League Part 2 (partially filmed)
- Ben Affleck’s Batman
- Man Of Steel 2
- Justice League Part 3 (partially filmed)
The studio had zero faith in such mature versions of superhero movies, that they instead handed the keys over to James Gunn, who is making his own child-friendly superhero universe now, while excluding all previous DC superhero movies aswel as Zack Snyder’s.
They where on the right track finally with ZSJL and have now flushed that away. Only to repeat old stories of the past yet again and recast superman. Such fools.
Take a shot every time Addie says "Superman".
What an excellent movie. Solid reaction, Addie.
U still got Aquaman movies, Shazam, birds of prey, etc
I think you should continue and finish off the DCEU if for no other reason than to suffer as we all did, but you could also just watch The Suicide Squad and call it done. That movie, as well as his work in the MCU, is a great example of why Gunn got control of the new DCEU.
It’s kind of a tragedy that this story will never be finished.
Loved the Supes vs Jla fight.
7:40 that is the Martian Manhunter..
👍
4:32 'What's our vector, Victor?'
My impression was Lois’ death weakens Superman enough that the anti life equation takes hold of him.
In case you're curious about the DCEU moving forward, here are the films that I recommend:
Aquaman
Shazam!
Birds of Prey
The Suicide Squad (2021) The first one to be directed by James Gunn, and I believe is the beginning of the soft reboot for the DCEU moving forward.
Blue Beetle (Which I also heard will be part of James Gunn's universe moving forward)
And I've heard good things about Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
After the theatrical cut of Justice League, they tried to go in a more lighthearted tone moving forward, and these are the films that I've personally liked the most out of it.
Great reaction as always Addie! I was really excited for this one! And I'm excited for more reactions moving forward!
Ah, the epic finale. I loved the Flash reversing time scene a lot, but the rest of it is just so good.
Supposedly, there was going to be two more parts , Zack Snyder's Justice League Part 2 and Part 3 to conclude the story arc.
My reaction to seeing this video published: "Ooh; nice." Now I'll watch.
yes...power-wise Superman is on a level of his own. Wonder Woman isn't THAT far behind, but far enough that it is easily noticeable...but when you are comparing power levels that are THAT extreme, even significant differences don't seem like that much in comparison!
There is an alternate reality superman, his name is ultraman
(Tis gory though)
And of course, as a lot of people have stated, you cannot go wrong with Justice League TAS
Superman is so powerful that it was his death that woke the mother boxes and allowed Steppenwolf to attack earth without fear.
Superman is vulnerable to magic. So the lasso of Hessia, can affect him if he was held long enough.
Take it from someone who’s seen all of them. I think you should check out Aquaman, Shazam!, The Suicide Squad, The Flash and Blue Beetle.
Technically Aquaman's movie would be after this one.
That movie was part of the Weedon cut. Not Snyders.
@coreymckee4844 still would be next in line if Addie is going to continue her DC movies.
@@karlthomastheoriginal if shes going to watch the weedon cut then yes.
Cyborg is the heart of the team. Wish more Green Lanterns were in this.
The only thing you are missing from this version that was in the Theatrical cut, is the fun post credit scene where Superman and The Flash race. Just look it up here on you tube.
This movie was so satisfying after Josstice League.
Aquaman is the next movie to watch after Zack Snyder's Justice League. Yes. It's worth the watch. 👍 -OG
The Snyder cut is so good. Had so much more potential for future films, but now we will never know. Such a shame that the snyderverse is over.
-OG
I think the only other person i've seen swooning over Superman that much is Angryjoe lol
This is the only time I'll recommend watching the theatrical cut cause it's a very interesting comparison
Amazing reaction!! Great movie!!!
Zack Snyder had Christian messages for Superman in his films which makes it more special to me. ZSJL is a masterpiece
There is a TV show, Superman and Lois, that features an older Clark with twin teenage sons.
I know people really dislike The Green Lantern movie but I thought it was kind of fun and it does have Ryan reynolds so maybe a rewatch
I liked it lol
@@prion42 Same here. It doesn't always work (like I actually stopped watching Suicide Squad a short time in, and the other one is stilled wrapped in foil), but I generally like to "ignore" stuff that might not be the greatest idea ever, and focus on the fun parts of a movie.
Worked for Green Hornet too.
Such a better design for the Joker 😄
the animated "Justice League" series would be a fun watch 😉😋
