Action VS Reaction

  • Time = Bullets
    This video piggybacks on an old video by pfc_training which did an excellent job of demonstrating the huge reaction time disadvantage that exists. I think they deserve alot more credit for the points in that video.
    We've added what that time disadvantage looks like in bullets.
    This video isn't to endorse a gun being drawn at any small suspicion of harm, however it does show that when enough evidence of harm exists, your only hope is to act on it and have your gun drawn.
    Over anything else; train to use that gun with tremendous discernment, and then train at speed.

    Dude great video. Active self protection channel has a saying "Don't draw from the drop unless you have to". This truly hammers it home. You are not going to out draw someone that already has their gun up and ready.

    "Don't draw on a Drawn Gun."
    "Learn to use your Brain and empty-handed skills to win."
    "Keep your head on a swivel."
    "Don't be the last to the party."
    All solid principles taught with minimal wording, just excellent visual teaching with appropriate cues. I guess this is how I learn. I could absorb a lot of this type of material. Quick and to the point.
    Thanks!

    Well I’m glad I saw you kick The Machine challenge in the ass because I probably wouldn’t have seen this wonderful demo. Great way to illustrate action/reaction. It would be cool to think up a safe way to do some knife attack vs pistol action/reaction. If you haven’t already, that is 🤓

      Thanks for the feedback man! That's a great idea for the knife vs gun. It would be interesting to add the processing speed of random things in the hand as well. Like the Tueller drill but with the added pain of deciphering if it's actually a lethal threat. I'll add this to the lengthy list! Thanks 👊

      Policeman can be injured with just a knife despite being trained, so, reaction time can easily kill me and it's not about phisical training but more like tactics.
      Fantastic demonstration.(I wanted to say this) Everyone should be aware of this.

    So in scenario if you have to fire on the move, being accurate is important, but I feel firing on the move is more of a suppressive fire factor to gain appropriate cover to then work on accuracy to neutralize the threat.

    I mean yeah, if you watch a dude already holding a gun walk up to you, and you dont react until he raises it at you,
    duh youre not gonna shoot first
    be proactive, not reactive

    • @SHEPDEV.ONLINE
      @SHEPDEV.ONLINE  Год назад +1

      You're right, we don't win in any of these scenarios and especially not if we are reacting... the old saying of "Never draw on a drawn gun" applies to a certain extent as well. Gotta find a way to disrupt the opponent's OODA loop before trying to turn the tide, otherwise this video certainly applies.

    • @ch3cksund3ad
      @ch3cksund3ad Год назад +1

      @@SHEPDEV.ONLINE again yes, sure, but it's extremely rare someone just walks up with a gun out to shoot someone point blank. And you're not gonna be a target for that type of interaction typically unless the person knows you, and it's personal.
      So coming back to, if you see someone being sketchy coming up from a distance, prepare while they're at distance. Don't wait until they're less than 10 feet away.
      Also, don't stand in one spot while you draw, "get off the X" as people like to say. Get distance, put objects or walls between you, draw from concealment in some manor if possible. Or while they're walking up, turn your body so it isn't visible.
      Unless you're working a job where you operate a cash register, this situation should almost never happen like this. You have to be aware of your surroundings though, or really anything could sneak up and surprise you
      I never wait until the last second to draw my firearm, and I've been in well over a handful of self defense encounters

      @SHEPDEV.ONLINE  Год назад +1

      @@ch3cksund3ad right on, those are great ways to mitigate the situation/risks. This video wasn't trying to be scenario or tactics based though, it was just displaying reaction times in different "readiness" positions to show how poor our reaction time is (regarding how deadly it is in situations involving firearms) and ensure guys know we can't rely on it to be winning any races.
