Part 2 of We Come From Warriors //Shaun King Speaking in Jordan about the Martyrs of Mu'tah

  • Sisters and Brothers, I said it before, and I will say it again, we come from warriors! We come courageous men and women that not only fought for what they believe in, but we came from warriors that willingly gave their lives to confront injustice face to face.
Today, I traveled from Istanbul to Amman, Jordan to show you what you are about to see. Learning of the Battle of Mu'tah changed my life. Our dear Prophet, peace be upon him, sent three of his most beloved companions, Zayd ibn al-Harithah (ra), Ja’far ibn Abi Talib (ra), and Abdullah ibn Rawahah (ra), deep into the desert to confront the Roman Empire over a grave injustice that was done.
But when these beloved companions showed up with 3,000 Muslims prepared for battle, the Romans had 150,000 soldiers, and what happened next changed the future of our Prophet, peace be upon him, and the future of Islam.
Let me break it all down for you, OK?

      Watched the 1st part👍
In addition to what you mentioned during your holly visit to Mu'tah:
Zeid may Allah have mercy on him, married sayeeda Zainab, the cousin of the prophet pbph, then got divorced before the prophet married her, that's why adoption in islam was banned since that.
Once the prophet married her, poeple were not allowed to call Zeid as Zeid ibn Mohammed (zeid the son of Mohammad) as they used to. The verset in Quran inform poeple to call kids in the name of their fathers only, so zeid felt a bit sad about it, he was known as the son of Mohammed, now it's only Zeid ibn Haretha, so Allah put his name on the Quran as a confort to his heart, he is the only companion mentioned by his name in the Quran among all family and companions of the prophet pbph,
Check Sourat Al Ahzab, verset 37
He married again and had a son named Oussama ibn zeid (son of zeid) , a famous follower of our prophet Mohammad pbph, a hero and a famous teller of hadiths
Thx for sharing pics of his presious tomb.

Indeed Allah has rewarded Br Shaun the ability narrate historical events with so much passion. He practically takes us there in mind and body. May Allah give him the needed resources and motivation to continue to inspire us. He has learnt so much in past 6 months what we seem to have forgotten. Maybe one day our Muslim leadership will wake up and muster enough courage to help our sisters and brothers in Palestine. Today they martyred our brother Haniyah while we look on.

There's something about the way you're telling these stories and describing these companions (May Allah be pleased with them all) of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), that is hitting me different from when I have heard about them from others.
When you described the relationship of Zaid (May Allah be pleased with him) i'm on the verge of tears.
Please keep sharing these amazing stories and reflections. Even when it may be a story someone have heard before, the one telling the story can provide a different effect and appreciation for the listener. Alhamdulillah.

Bear in mind brothers and sisters, that these tombs for the companions are in a place that wasn't a Muslim land yet. Meaning, these companions didn't witness their results of their Jihad. All they had to do is the due diligence, and Allah is not going to judge the results, but the actions. May Allah use us and not replace us.

Please keep doing what you are doing right now, watching your videos make me realize how beautiful our religion is and how much sacrifice ummah has given so far and still sacrificing their holy blood in the name of Allah. I am so happy that you keep mentioning, Muslims must do something with their hands to stop the genocide and I believe there are many Muslims feeling the same and would love to become a martyr in the name of Allah, for this we need a leader! Prophet told his companions to fight and they did, today there is no leader who unites Ummah and asks them to fight for Ummah. InshaaAllah, Ummah will find their leader and unite under his leadership and fight for our deserved right to live in this world!

Brother Shaun, the Arabic verse that is written around the tumb, talks about surah tawbah verse 111. it says: Allah has indeed purchased from the believers their lives and wealth in exchange for Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah and kill or are killed. This is a true promise binding on Him in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran. And whose promise is truer than Allah’s? So rejoice in the exchange you have made with Him. That is ˹truly˺ the ultimate triumph.

I was disheartened previously due to my ignorance about the history of slavery in Islam as well as about adopted children not being allowed to inherit the name or wealth of adoptee parents.
However, coming across the story of the prophet’s own beloved Zaid gave me a lot of reassurance about the practice of those concepts in Islam.
He was a great example for Muslims of how the prophet treated a slave turned adopted son turned companion and how Zaid also loved him in return.
So I appreciate you visiting him and talking about him today.

My brother Shaun King, I learned that you are a professor of history and love biographical stories, and I think these books are very wonderful for understanding some aspects of Islamic history:
    1. Biography and Mission of Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab by Jalal Abualrub
    2. The Biography of Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal by Salahuddin ‘Ali Abdul-Mawjood
    3. Shaikh-ul-Islam Ibn Taimiyah Life and Achievements by Syed Abul Hassan Ali AL Nadwi
These three had a heroic role in Islamic history. The first, Imam Muhammad Abd al-Wahhab, returned the Arabs to Islamic monotheism after the spread of polytheism in the Arabian Peninsula.
The second, Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, was one of the most important Islamic scholars in the first centuries. He challenged the political authority that tried to force him to say that the Qur’an was created and not the word of God, and this was because of the Mu’tazila scholars who tried to create a new eaqida.
The third is Imam Ibn Taymiyyah. He was the most famous among Islamic scholars in the Middle Ages. He played a heroic role in stopping some Islamic scholars from immersing themselves in philosophy and using it in the attributes of the Creator. Therefore, he argued with them, challenged them, and guided them about the necessity of adhering to the correct approach in following the early Muslims in understanding the attributes of the Creator. These imams wrote some of the most important Islamic aleaqidah books taught in Islamic universities and religious lesson councils, such as:
    1. Commentary On Kitab At Tawheed by Salih Al- Utaimeen or Concise Commentary on the Book of Tawhid by Dr. Salih al Fawzan
Sheikh Al-Fawzan (One of the most important basic books that explain Islamic monotheism.)
    2. The Creed of Al-wasitiyyah by Ibn Taymiyyah ( To know the attributes of the Creator in Islam) >>>
Sharah al Aqeda al Wasitiyah 2 Volume Set by Shykh Muhammad bin Salih Al Uthaimin
    3. Explanation of a Summary of Al Aqeedatul Hamawiyyah: Authored by Ibn Taymiyyah
    4. Towards Understanding of Tadmuriyyah by Shaykh-Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah
    5. Explanation of the Three Fundamental Principles of Islaam by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-Uthaymeen
    6. An Explanation of the Four Rules Regarding Shirk of the Imaam and Mujaddid Muhammad Bin Abdil Wahhab by Luhaydaan Fawzaan
You can find Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Wahhab Mosque in Diriyah, the capital of the first Saudi state. It is a World Heritage Site and has become a tourist attraction for tourists from everywhere.
As for Ibn Taymiyyah, we consider the Cairo Citadel prison to be linked to him because he is considered the most famous prisoner in that castle. The Ash’ari scholars imprisoned him because they wanted him to abandon belief in the attributes of the Creator that are clear in the texts of the Qur’an.
As for Ahmed bin Hanbal, he was tortured in the prisons of Baghdad from one prison to another during the time of the Abbasid Caliph Al-Mu'tasim Billah in order to change his mind and believe what the Mu'tazilites believed in.

@@ShaunKing There is no need to thank, the challenges are not in the military and political aspect, but even in the religious aspect. Islamic history has gone through many challenges, and Muslim scholars had the greatest role in protecting the fortress of Islam, as it was in understanding the first generation of Muslims.

The first translation on the tomb of Zayd, its the verse 111 from surah ”tawbah” .... you were talking about honoring that promise of defending justice, i think youll like this one ”Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah, so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah? JazakAllah khair, our brother Shaun. Alhamdulillah, Allah guided you to islam so that you could be a source of goodness and inspiration for us
I really am in tears. It makes me think, we have become so weak as an ummah. But there is no point in just moping. Each one of us has to do what they can do. To carry this banner of Islam forward, the purpose of our creation - for as long as we live. Qe are so focused on livign a 'good' life - but by what standards? Is living (materiastically) comfortably truly a good life? Because many of the sahabah (ra) and the Prophet ﷺ did not live this way.
We need to come together, and be more efficient, to reinforce our imaan, and use this gift Allah has given us
