I really only play tourney online now, I told myself not to play cash online I’ve seen to many fishy stuff. But I still took the bait
Playing 2/5
I flopped a set of 4’s opponent flopped a set of 7’s hey shit happens
2nd night
I raise 15 with pocket 22’s get re raised to $40, don’t hate it but don’t love it I call. Flop comes low and I flop a set of 22’s, dude pushes all in and I snap call he has pocket QQ’s and a Q hits the river
3rd night I’m big blind with 10/4 suited first to act makes it $20 and 3 callers before it gets to me, I’m BB so $15 to call, ok I’ll see a flop
Flop.... 10/10/4..... I check and guy who made it $20 pushes all in for close to 1K... again I snap, he shows A/10 and A hits the river
I don’t play cash online anymore, figure combined loss around 3.5K for my online lesson of don’t trust high cash poker unless your playing live
I love the way Daniel looks at Gus the second time he says “so sick.” There’s no animosity. Just “this is how we chose to make a living and crazy shit like this is part of it.”
That season Daniel had some awful luck. He was bullying the table with $1M that went down to $225k before a small comeback. 😆
it's an insignificant slice of Daniel's net worth lol he wasn't affected at all by it, would make the same bet again and again
They also generally own equity in each other to smooth out the variance. That way they bet these huge amounts for TV and even play entertaining poker - like a 22-year-old Dwan bluffing six figures - without being financially harmed by it
The classic check raise all in with quads. Old but gold

lol at all the people saying that daniel should've folded. maybe you guys should sit down with a 100k buy in and show donk daniel how it's done.
The way the hand played out Gus easily could've had pocket 9s, I wouldn't have guessed quads but if I was in Daniel's spot I would've seriously considered the fact that Gus has 9s (or better but most likley 9s) in that position. I've folded sets to higher sets when playing so it's not impossible to make this lay down
yeah you've folded sets in your local 1-2 game. great correlation. congrats for that.

This is why Daniel will always be my favorite player. Very mathematical, and keeps his calm (at least on the outside) once he finds out Gus sucked out on him. VERY classy at the table and an amazing player overall.
There's another hand several hours later where Daniel loses it, after like 3 more coolers.
Gus didn’t really suck out on Daniel; he really had no reason to believe he didn’t have the best hand on the flop. The turn just sealed it.
@@wickedcurve Of course he sucked out. Given the hand strengths on the flop, he hit a miracle card on the turn. It doesn't matter that he was crushed pre-flop.
@@terracottapie on the flop there was 65 k in the pot
its not a suckout ... its a cooler ..
a suckout is when most of the money is in the pot and you suck out on your opponent ..
if they would have done an all in on the flop than yes it would have been a suckout ...
hand strength changes according to the board ,, what defines if it was a suckout or not is when most of the money went in ..
it would be like me having AK and you AQ and we dont raise the preflop and the board goes AAQ and than all in .. would that be a suckout out ?
nope .. just a cooler
@@terracottapie it would be a suck out if they went all-in on the flop, but its definitely not a suck out like the hand played out (over 80% pot size got in after the 5 hit). Its just a cooler for daniel, especially playing someone as agressive as gus.
Daniel looked like he was gonna throw up after this hand but I’m glad he’s now (and has been for years) in the top 3 Poker money earners in history 👌🏻😁
Do you know how much money he spent to make that top 3? He's notorious for firing a ridiculous amount of bullets to win some of those tourneys. Daniel is way overrated. He's solid but he's no where near the top of the poker talent.
No such thing as 'skill' in Poker. It's literally 80% chance and 20% knowing basic rankings and percentages. You have to fire bullets to win anything.

I remember watching this, what a great fold by Esfandiari. Not because of how the hand 'unfolds', but simply bc of knowing this is not the spot to play AQo against these players OOP unless you want to risk to lose a lot of money. That's discipline.
For sure. How many of the new vloggers, like Rampage, would have folded AQo there?

If u are playing AQ out of position and with 2 raises i bet u are losing a lot of money right now
Out of position AQ should be an auto fold after UG raises and next position reraises.

That was the MOST entertaining poker hand ever televised, with the best possible commentary ! Respect to Gabe Kaplan.
Kaplan: "Gus is gonna lose alot of money on this hand, the only that can save him is a 7 or 8" Wrong, wrong and wrong. Entertaining none the less.
One of the sickest coolers in televised poker history.
Yeah, but I recall I think it was at the WSOP where 3 players made sets. Can't recall which year tho. It was a sick thing to see. Think another player had Queen's also and folded it but I might be mixing up 2 hands in my head.
@@Kazeshini11 it was a set of 6s vs set of 3s vs QQ. :) Only set over set, not set over set over set.

This for me is the most memorable televised quad over a full house I’ve ever seen. Each time I watch it I totally feel the pain for Negreanu. On the plus side he’s still playing his A game nowadays.
Roberto Romanello folding a full house is good, too.
The whole event was sick. Super action every hand. Daniel flopped nuts several times just before this hand and lost it all. How he didn't go full tilt here speaks to him being one of the true GOATs.
That is so F ING sick
Daniel new the options and correctly stated them, and i know he was working out the odds on each one in his head. He knew there was a chance but also knows Gus plays loose at times and its hard to figure what Gus would go all in on.
Great dignity by both players!!! THAT is what makes champions.
That river check by Gus was amazing!
This actually happened to me some years ago in a live cash game I attended. My first live cash game ever, had 88 and flopped a set. one other guy had 99 and one of the 9's flopped as well. I rivered the 8 for quads. Good times!
I am happy for you!!
You were playing for 1 dollar
I once flopped quads on a €5 twister on PP with the wheel hitting 40 I doubled up too as the guy turned Kings full of Jacks I check raised the flop and 3 bet shoved on the turn then went on to win the game by hitting a winning boat a few hands later
i was at a house game and aksed the dealer for a royal straight flush. i got it
"I wasn't too happy on the flop" yet raises :)
It's the right play though. Sometimes you have to raise even when you don't like your hand.
He didn't like the flop for that exact reason ... he raised and get called
This guy has the best poker face I've ever seen. Like no emotion ever. Quite amazing.
Gus blinked 100 times in 4 seconds when that 5 hit the turn. Haha.
Gus has such a good poker face!!!! He has the same expression with 7 2 off as he does A K suited and pocket Aces !!!
Bunch of geniuses in the comments who dont realize how easy the game is when you can see the hole cards after the hand.
That delayed WOWWWW from Gabe will never ever get old
Ill never forget daniels face when he says "huh!?"
In watching Negreanu for some 16+ years I have always seen him jolly and losing with a smile on his face....however, I don't believe I have ever seen him so PISSED until just now..... Daniel handled it like the ultimate pro.....and yet you can see in his eyes the HURT and the PAIN...and twinge of RAGE.....I believe his eyes are saying...."my gut said GUS had it and I should have listened to it".
One of the best people in the game when it comes to reading people. You can't fault a man for losing to quads when he's got a full house. He's folded to better full houses before. So he is capable of making the lay down, but when do you ever suspect quads?
That check on the river. So satisfying.
absolutely unreal.. sick-hand wow.
I don’t see how you play vs the dudes that can basically read your hand. Crazy how smart these dudes are at this game
He called out the only 3 hands he loses to, all of which are unlikely but totally possible. Daniel had a bad habit of running into the few hands that had him crushed on this show lol
Regardless of this hand they are still pretty good at reading most hands
what an insane hand, there is no way on earth that daniel could lay down that hand, he made the right play..................he is a class act all the way, took the loss like a gentlemen......................
Ironic that Gus went broke while Daniel became one of the top earners.

he was too loosey goosey, at least he wasnt eating a sandwich
Too loose goosey this time wasn't you, Daniel the doughnut 😄
“You might have the nuts” my boy DNegs nearly talked himself into what would be the most legendary fold of all time
He always says crap like that. I'm not impressed. Flop could be 9-10-J and someone goes all in he'll say, you probably got Q-K or 7-8.. Wow! What a legendary read. No..its always an obvious read.
@@bignickdigger7105 That wouldn't even be an obvious read. That would be such an obvious bluff that it's not even obvious anymore.
BigNick Digger going all in with KQ is actually a garbage play
Nah, there's no way he was ever folding. You can only ever fold there if it's like a late-stage of a big tournament (like main event) and you know your opponent is an amateur incapable of ever bluffing or value-betting anything other than full houses or quads (cause 6s is the worst pocket pair on that board after all).
It's just an automatic pay-off, Gus might play same way with a straight or even trip 5s considering his image. And since Daniel played so passive he could easily just have an overpair as well which means Gus's value range is super wide and you beat almost all of it with a full house.
Daniel has "called out" a lot of hands, but unless you actually make the fold it's pretty much irrelevant to say "I had a feeling you had that". Like yeah, if there's a lot of action and you don't have the nuts, it's not hard to figure out what beats you.
@@TheCabIe There aren't really any bluffs on that board though that bluff shove because there was no flush draw or any reason to bluff shove there. If he had 85 or 75 he check calls. There are no hands on that board that Gus bluff shoves. He has 99, 88 or 55 everytime. Every other hand check calls. 97 check calls. 87 check calls. 95 check calls. 85 check calls. 65 check calls. 75 check calls. Gus is a loose maniac but he never bluff shoves there. It's always the nuts.
"ah so sick, so sick" 🤣 Legendary

Wow Daniel doesn't show his frustration that much despite losing so much money and here I am always wanting to throw my phone everytime I lose my virtual chips lmao
99.999% of players snap call that all in. The fact that Daniel actually took the time to consider that he was beat is really a testament to how good he is.

Exactly. People who said Daniel should have folded the full house would had the fastest snap call ever in their life and then rage, scream, shout.
After the check raise on the flop and the check on the river this is a snap bet fold
