The first 2 sectors were very good. That last sector was INCREDIBLE.
The way he passed to the swimming pool, it's unreal. Just like it was nothing
so tight through all sector 3... that's pure skills

As he's exiting the chicane at around 1:06, he loses the back end and steers into the slide to correct it, with mere feet to spare on that side. That's how you know F1 drivers are truly in a league of their own. Can you imagine steering TOWARDS a wall just a few feet away as you're accelerating through 120 km/h?

I love watching on boards of Monaco. Shows the mental strength needed to race around the circuit at those speeds while going so close to the barriers.

Although I agree that it’s amazing how close they get to the barriers in Monaco, he doesn’t get closer to the barriers than any other drivers. In Monaco this is not too special compared to other drivers.

That's *still* him. He did really well at Renault but never fit at McLaren. People have really short memories.
Every apex is hit with almost perfection. He is absolutely sending it in this lap!
that little counter steer after the chicane and then how close he gets to the wall at 1:05 is insane
My favorite circuit. Requires absolute focus and precision. The drivers love it for a reason... Disappoints me that many fans disrespect Monaco. Racing is not just about constant overtaking.

The first sector could have been a few millimeters better but the 2nd and 3rd were just perfect, truly amazing
It's truly remarkable that he did not even think about lifting through the Swimmimg pool. Absolutely stunning lap, one of those laps you get once in a life round Monaco.
It is amazing how the drivers get so close to the barriers especially on the apexes without touching.
The speed that he takes through those corners... truely incredible.

I love the noise of the wind rushing past when the cars are going through bumps at relatively high speed. Very satisfying.
Daniel is the guy with the biggest unfilled potential in current F1. Shame he didnt reach what he should.
It's just insane at what speed and precision these drivers drive with, especially at a track like Monaco, every micro second you do something wrong could be the last thing you ever did.
The swimming pool section :O Absolutly briliant
1:05 piscine in the pool section, that last chicane is usually the make or break spot. He nailed that right apex to setup the 2nd one part. Wow. One of the best behind Senna's "perfect" pole lap.

I think we can say that overtaking will be completely impossible given the increased width of the cars.
Deplorable Citizen They were that wide up until the early 90s and overtaking did happen back then. But of course, it's much faster now so it's probably going to be realky difficult.
Entity Peavii and probably verstappen will do that overtake.

Agree. He is nowhere near his peak form now. Is that because of the change in machinery? Or loss of confidence? Wish he had stayed in RB.
@@AdhiNarayananYR Danny is never the same since he left RB. Hardly seen him doing late breaking overtake in Renault or McLaren.
@@AdhiNarayananYR Surely it has to be that the machinery isn't comfortable for him to drive, this would also play with him mentally. You don't just forget how to drive, I'd say machinery and the mental aspect are what's causing Daniel to be in his slump at the moment.
These cars were much more nimble
They are much smaller than current cars, around Monaco modern f1 turns into parade cause you can't even think about overtaking.Truth is people complain about sound while the biggest issue nowadays imo is the size. They need to downsize the cars further to make it more old school cool similar to the past. Especially if they want to retain Monaco in the calendar.

I think so too. Perez can't qualify worth a d*mn and we all know that Ricciardo beat both 4-time champion Vettel at Red Bull in 2014 and 2-time champion Max Verstappen at Red Bull in 2016 and 2017. Ricciardo finished 3rd in the standings in 2014 and 2016 despite not having the best car. Perez finished 3rd in 2022 with the best car.
The fact that the McLaren car didn't suit him (he is still the only driver to have won a race for McLaren these last 10 seasons) doesn't mean he's not a top driver.
@@paulallen8109 Daniel needs a stable front end just like Max. I think Mclaren used Daniel to make Lando look like a super talent but Lando didnt really show it.
They gave Daniel a nervous braking Lando style car.
The Red Bull will suit him fine and Max will have more poles taken away from him. But this time for real and not with his teammate in the barriers.

I was there for this race with 2 aussies who were screaming in happiness at this and then screaming the next day for the messed up pit stop. I watched from a balcony at 0:07 on the left hand side. Everyone need to go to Monaco at some point in their lives!
