@@davids8127I am australian and Ricciardo is also australian. He has noted how he pronounces his name the “australian” way e.g Ric-car-do. The Italian way is also accepted it depends on the individuals or family preference here. Id say the way ricciardo pronounces it is the right one.
I love Danny but he never should have left Red Bull. His best shot at a WDC would have been to pull a Rosberg and just take the fight to Max, instead of running away hoping for a better car that might never come.
@@sebastianahrens2385 Agree. I actually don't blame DR for leaving RB. I think he saw himself as the next Mark Webber to the favoured Seb Vettel. It was clear that Max would become the favoured one within RB (and probably understandable to some extent) and at that point of his career wasn't ready to give up the hope of being WDC one day. In hindsight he probably would have been a more competitive teammate to Max and may even had beaten him on the odd occasion going forward (yes. I know he did beat him but Max was still developing ) and won many grand prix. But he would never have won a WDC with Max in the other car.
Monaco 2021, when Lando got to a podium finish after lapping Daniel. For me, that was the moment when Daniel realized his situation. That was the moment when we all realized that we were not going to see the old Ricciardo again.
I've been SO hopeful that 2024 would be the year when Daniel returns to his best, beating his teammates by a considerable margin. The facts are however, that whatever happened at McLaren has completely sapped his confidence, and in reality he's unlikely to get back his mojo. He MUST start beating Yuki and beating him handsomely if he's to stay in F1 let alone get a seat in a better car. I really believe he should consider retiring gracefully "for the good of the team and of himself" rather than ending his career being ignominiously "dropped" before the season ends.
I wish he would’ve taken that seat in Indy car that McLaren were offering. I really think he could be competitive there. That style suits him really well and the Americans would love it. He would be a mega celebrity.
Why does it necessarily need to have anything to do with McLaren? This is normal in all sports, athletes have a peak and then fall off. Not everybody is Alonso or Hamilton, or Messi or CR. Stop blaming it on anything else but the driver himself. In reality, his performance downfall began in his second Renault year - except it was always masked by slow midfield cars (zero expectations at results, if you get a point then great, otherwise also great), or outright shitty excuses. Now the excuses have ran out and began to repeat themselves, and it's obvious that maybe, just maybe the driver is the problem.
Ricciardo will always be one of my favourite f1 drivers. It was very unfortunate that he fell off like that, and now everyone just lost respect for him. its just so sad
Not true. If he wanted to become champion, that meant that he had to NOT drive alongside Max. On one hand, Max is a generational talent, which was obvious from his first season in F1, on the other hand, Red Bull was chose him as their N1. If he stayed in Red Bull, that meant he will be N2 at best. This is his last season in F1 and I'm not sure he will race until the end of it.
Horner is only reason he is still there. Daniel sounds like a newbie these days searching for excuses. Liam should have been in that seat form the start of the season.
I don't know if that's fair to all of the drivers, but i think Liam should get to Red bull with Perez kicked out and the 2024 RB driver lineup sustained until Yuki or Daniel manage to pull off better results
The problem for Ricciardo is that he is not very good at handling setbacks. He is a good driver though, when he is in a good mental state. I hope he gets some success soon
Danny's carreer ended the day he was blamed for the team crash with Max. This proved to him that despite his huge success, Red Bull had a favorite child and it wasn't him. This would ultimately put a dent in his confidence that he would never recover. He started being treated as a clear number 2 driver and he just couldn't take it. His huge ego betrayed him because the spotlight wasn't on him anymore. Instead of embracing the competition he tried changing teams but as we all know this just wouldn't work out. Every little battle from then on just further damaged his confidence until he was reduced to an underperforming goofball. Too bad because he had the world at his feet at some point but he let his ego get the better of him.
So what? Ricciardo, as talented as he is was supposed to do the Checo role and be Max’ little bitch and not be allowed to be competitive. No, he had to leave and try something otherwise he would be what Checo is now, just happy to still be there but Ricciardo actually showed some ambition in wanting success, unlike Perez.
Well, it wasn't his fault. Max moved over under brakes, when he saw Daniel was coming through with his late braking pass. Where the hell was Daniel meant to go at that point? Drive it into the wall to save golden boy? If Max did that in 2024, he'd be penalised by the FIA. Rules were clarified, because of that incident and other similar moves he pulled in his younger days. It wasn't ego, it was self respect.
It didn’t matter to him Max was the favorite, it should’ve been him after Seb not to replace Seb with max while he still was there. They were in favor of Max from the very first start.
@@GloomGaiGarBtw im not sided with Ricciardo or Horner on this but tbf, Danny has been fed up with mechanical failures and issues in 2018 being the driver with the most DNF's in that season (i think) and during that time Honda has a shit reputation (ask McLaren) so i kinda understand why Ricciardo didnt trust them.
I started being interested into F1 about 2 years ago through Netflix. And even though I had no idea about the mechanics, what I got from the first season was: Riccardo wanted a reliable car. The Renault engine made Red Bull problems. Riccardo went to Renault. And I was like: wtf??? How the f can you want a reliable car and then go to the people that build the engine that blew up into your face the whole season??? That was the point where i said he made the biggest mistake of his career, and time proves me right.
I'm a DRic fan, not for his media presence or his personality off track but for the old red bull days where he was one of the best and most spectacular drivers, its hard to comprehend how down he seems from those days but it really seems like its over for his f1 days. After all there is a lot of talent waiting and they should be having the chance too if not more than him that has been in the sport for years.
If anything, his "media presence" / personality are exactly what pushed me away from being a fan. When the performances suck, head down and focus on learning the technical side, maybe some hours at the sim, instead of being a full time TikTok clown.,
Danny Ric has the best PR team in sports....few have done less and gotten more press... perfect example all the chat this preseason he's ready to take #2 at red bull.. 8 wins and 80,000 excuses later he's on the grid again looking like a kid that's flunked the same science test 10 times had extensive tutoring and keeps failing with no idea why. Drivers flame out all the time. My theory why is he sucks at setting up a car. He rode Vettels and Max's set up and did ok, switched teams to be "the man" and hasn't produced remaining lost in weeds ever since.
I agree that leaving Red Bull was a huge mistake, I was a Ricciardo fan but it looked like he was running away from a fight. What really finished him off was not only a bad season with with McLaren but the fact that he wasn't just sacked he was bought out for a huge amount of money. At the time his wealth was estimated at 50 million dollars. He's got a farm in Western Australia, a mansion in Beverly Hills surrounded by movie stars - owns a brewing company and a car collection that includes at least 2 McLarens. He was being rewarded for being average, but Formula 1 doesn't reward a driver for being average. It forgets
You can't blame him for leaving RedBull cuz, RedBull sucked with "no.2". RedBull fking demolished Mark Webber in Vettel days, they support their dominant drivers and only them. If he was no.2, he wouldn't get enough care for his car and unique driving style. I feel like Checo is experiencing Riccardo's worst fear. Yes, Max is dominant af but, even if he was dominant, the team should still care about their other driver. They had a deal like, I'll pay you as much as max, I'm sure Ric felt like he's being a no.2, that deal shouts "max is superior" out loud.
To be fair, it's his inability to self analyse and pinpoint his problems, which is the biggest headache. Is it corner approach? Throttle control? His driving style? His braking habits? Data is showing him everything, yet he reamains "puzzled" all the time. At McLaren, it was "something intangible". At Renault, he couldn't "quite put his finger on it". At RB, he's "was happy with his lap, but somehow slower than Yuki" You can't rely on a driver's "Mojo" "Feels" "Vibes" forever... He needs to produce performances, yes, but also convincing explanations of his current pace, and a roadmap for mitigating his problems😅
I really hope he can bounce back. It has only been 3 races so he does have a solid chance to show what he knows he can do. Confidence really can break a person.
Ricciardo pull what Nyck Dvyries did. Too much confidence and underestimating Yuki. The experiment has failed, bring in Lawson immediately. Let’s start getting back to developing new drivers.
It'd be kinda hilarious if over time it becomes clear that yuki just ascended and ricciardo is performing at his prior level, but the car is shit. Obvs that isn't reality, but Yuki is a quiet (in terms of rep, not voice) dark horse of those lower 5 teams.
@@herewegoagain7403 imagine using DTS as a basis for a driver's personality, u guys always complained about it being "overdramatic" and "fake", yet here you guys are in a wild YT Comment section using it as a basis for a driver's personality
I was a fan of DR when the racecraft was there, but it wasnt his performances that made it hard for me to continue cheering for the guy, it was his shift towards this "IG clown" persona while giving excuse after excuse for his poor performances. Suddenly the driving became secondary (for himself and fans alike), it was all masked by tons of excuses about cars and styles (and surely a ton of """funny""" """content"""), but now it feels like McLaren Ricciardo is just who he is at this point. Kinda feel bad for him but when you remember how he ran away from the fight with Max (trying to make it look like it had nothing to do with Max), how he kept the talk like 'he's back' or 'never left' or 'still there' with zero results to back it up, yea no mate I can't be a fan, head down and maybe focus less on TikTok and more on technical aspects, or some hours on the sim like Max and all the top drivers do.
Makes no sense, what he does out of f1 has no impact on his performances, like if driving a sim race game is helping drive a formula 1 car, like if because you like makeing videos out of f1 weekends means you give bad feed back and dont care about technical aspects when in duty or dont do simulator when needed, he does and very well. Then he ran away from RB favorising max in 2018, not from max, ican understand rb since he was as good but younger and many "youngest driver records" is good for rb advertising, but dont play blind. Then "zero results to back it up" okay thats was a bad season but when he said that he just had won a grandprix in a mclaren, but okay zero results sure. You just dont like him and thats your right.
@@cursedblade525 and that's faulty thinking. sim isn't a "game" (Forza, NFS and gran turismo ARE games) and the sim certainly equates for practice hours with the limited amount of testing they get nowadays. And yea he's way too focused on tiktok and being funny but won't adapt to the car. Certainly I don't dislike the guy I'm just indifferent. But when I said this, 1 month ago, he hadn't "just" won a race with mclaren. That race was in mid 2021. That's maybe one good result every 2 years. That one Monza drive wasn't all he did with McLaren, he also drove all those other races where he looked like a ghost of a midfield driver, and stripped the team out of every last cent in exchange for some smiles. Look at the whole picture not just the happy corner.
You mean his seat in F1? He will always be a big personality in the racing world. I would not be surprised if he gets hired by the FIA for some high paying position.
@@Bisstoro it absolutely does. With the streak he and Merc were on you'd think he was gonna be in a top 1-2 car until retirement. And i thought if there was a team that was gonna nail the new regs it would be germans. Even more suprising is they still haven't sorted out the issues 3 years in.
@@diegobert4033 TBH, Lewis is a HUGE part of them not sorting it out. He has insane sway within the team and the fans/media, and he complains about stuff and changes his mind a lot. Before 2022 really panned out, he was singing the praises of how the car looked/felt, and then immediately began switching up and blaming others, calling for changes, etc. If they had been trusted to do their work, they would be in a much better spot now (look at Ferrari, who stuck to their guns much more than the others, and are now a clear 2nd best to RB) - but Merc have done a complete revamp for the third year in a row. It's not pretty...
to be fair, it only happened because Hamilton and Verstappen crashed into each other, and the Ferraris were trash that year. but still wild nonetheless.

From F1 fans, to passive Ones, the Drive to Survive series, He, himself being comfortable with speaking on camera and relaxed enough to showcase a genuine personality, like it or not, Daniel became the Defacto Mascot of the Television series, seriously who can find a actual reason for not liking him?!... A crowd favorite... His Racing skill... No amount of favor or wishing for him can make up for Lap times... Cheers from Southern California 🇺🇸...
it's interesting that a lot of the senior drivers can't come to grips (pun intended) with the ground effect cars, i think that we are simply seeing the inevitable changing of the guard, look at the top 6 in Australia, every driver is in their 20's, in my opinion the old boys simply cant keep up with the new breed of drivers coming through, except for Alonso, that man is a freak
The day he decided to avoid the Verstappen challenge was the day that changed him forever. Then Renault money rationalised that response to make it seem like the right one.
The day he left RB, was what changed his life forever. He would have stayed in a team, in a car, that he knew that could win races, if not championships, to a team that would be lucky to get a podium.
I like that you included his move to Renault wasn't necessarily a bad one AT THE TIME. Knowing the situation at the time is completely relevant to why he made that call. 1. Money - Red Bull offering him $10 million a season versus Renault offering $21 million per season. 2. Preference - Red Bull backing Max Verstappen over him. He knew he would be playing second fiddle, and at that time he was still high from a stock perspective, and wanted to win a championship 3. New regs coming - At the time the new regs were looming, and every driver though the new regs would massively shake up the field and even up the playing field. Red Bull up until that point was still running a Renault engine, and the Honda engine wasn't the best out there, so no championship in sight at that point, merc looking unbeatable. The summary being, Ric took the cash and a 2 year deal with Renault, believing what Cyril Abiteboul was saying around their plan to improve, he quickly worked out that Renault were unable too and will never go anywhere, hence why he left for Mclaren (albeit with a life changing amount of money in his pocket and a huge social net worth from a branding perspective as well).
I never understood his supposed main reason for leaving Red Bull being he didn't trust Honda when Honda showed good results while with Toro Rosso. I hated to admit it at the time but Horner was right. He ran away from a fight and thought he would have an easier time with other teams he assumed would be on the rise.
I think saying he ran away from a fight isn’t fair. He ran away from a unfair fight with red bull favouring max over him and it’s clear this was the case after the Baku crash
Like Vettel he seems to age quickly. Maybe that’s not just optics. Not everyone can be an outlier like Alonso. Even Hamilton @39 will be interesting to follow this year.
I guess Vettel's Ferrari is DR's McLaren. Unfortunately, that means that if AM was Vettel's underwhelming last stop where he just had to go "It's fine, I've done enough, I should pack it up.", VCARB will be the same for DR.
@@jinsory5582 Seb atleast was giving Lewis a run for his money when he was still with Ferrari. Ricciardo couldnt beat Vergne in 2012, Kvyat in 2015, Max in 2018 (although Daniel had like 8 engine failures that year), Lando in both 2021 and 2022. Daniel's entire career is basically a "what could've been" scenario that we could all think about if he either gets fired or decides to call it quits, 10 years ago (in 2014) he was considered as WDC material after beating Vettel (although Seb had like 3 engine failures that year) and also winning 3 races that year, now he's basically hanging on his F1 career on a shoestring (a shame to say the shoe did not have any champagne for him to pull a shoey)
As a fan of Danny from the start it's heart wrenching watching it all unfold to where it is now, regardless of how it's shaking out the faith remains that somehow he can get his shit together. Either way I'm staying onboard this ship down to the bitter end if that's how it plays out.
I wish Daniel all the best. Always rooting for the guy. It would be cool if he can somehow turn this around, but... ...anyways, excellent video. subscribed!
McLaren broke Danny Ricc. Declaring "war" on Lando (whether joking or not) a Brit (the heir apparent in British F1 worship to LH) on a Brit team in a sport that has an indisputable Brit bias sealed his fate unfortunately. You can see it. It's a shame. Ricc should head over to WEC or maybe IndyCar (we Yanks love the guy).
How does the sport have an "indisputable Brit bias"? Most of the engineering is done in England but aren't the worst drivers on the grid, taking up race seats they don't deserve, usually Russian, American or Canadian?
@@Jesus_H._Tap-DancingChristdidnt see the last race? or maybe the race before where they didnt penalize lando? you have to be either brit or blind to not see it
Ric just had to drive faster. Stop inventing these crap excuses. He's not a kid who fall and needs consolation, give him some honour ffs don't make him look this miserable. When he joined McLaren everyone, from Brown, Zeidl, himself to pundits and all the fans predicted him to beat Lando and with a big margin. Lando was denied a win while leading the team through the season up to that point. Ricciardo is his own worst enemy. He just never managed.
As an Argentinean from a family fond of motor racing, Colapinto's promotion to Formula 1 was not only a sense of pride for the country, but also a feeling, 23 years without having a driver in the big show. Seeing someone young, with so much projection, brings the illusion of old and young to see one day the F1 world championship in the hands of a Latin American again.
running away from reality (facing a fiercely competitive team mate) often is the 1st step of failure. Staying would've allowed him to learn faster where his pace deficit was and strive harder.
RB gave him everything he wanted in his new contract, but he knew he would never be the #1 driver next to max.. So instead of staying and trying to fight for his spot on the team (like Rosberg did with Lewis at merc) He left thinking he would be great at another team. thats the moment he fucked his career
I think this is just a case of athlete loosing confidence and drive. You can see in interviews that he is scared and confused on why he is slow, and that kind of mental state is a downward spiral of career.
Two things led to DR's downfall: the move to Renault and the money it brought him, and a loss of confidence. Either of these alone would have done him in. Both worked together to ruin it for him. It's a sad story.
Pride before the fall. Ricciardo clearly told the world when he left Red Bull that he cares about money more than stability and success. He also felt threatened by the rising star of Max.
I think more than anything, he can only drive a car that suits his style, and is unable to fully adapt to a car that doesn't. And unfortunately the RB19 is still that RBR that suits him, so when they gave him a second shot at a drive and had a successful test and got the seat, I think it gave a false hope as the RB still doesn't have the front he needs. It's a confidence killer, along with the incessant media (this video not excluded), and I'm curious if he can ultimately be successful at RB.
I think ricciardo still has pace, it seems like ric has a very specific driving style, which when the set up is done correctly he is very very quick. Mexico is an example of that. You dont become washed in a few months after qualifying p4 in an alpha tauri. He is a risk however, as he is underperforming in qualis this year, but I think we should just wait and see. Its been 3 races. Im not saying he will but what if from here on out he outqualifies tsunoda. Its so hard to tell. Anyways, if he continues like this he should be removed, but I think he needs more time tbh. Give him to mid season break to see what he can do and what happens.
I think thats the problem that Daniel Ricciardo brings, he shows glimpses of greatness every once in a while and his popularity rekindles, i think he will have 2 o 3 really good performances before the summer break, but they will be enough to overshadow Yuki and put Daniel back on the map of the redbull seat, because lets be real Redbull would sell more cans with a Daniel/Max pairing than a Checo/Max pairing, Redbull doesnt need Ricciardo of old, they already have Max to overperform, if Ricciardo can perform as good as Checo the seat is gonna be his.
Moving to McLaren was actually a great decision. Look at them now, they have arguably the best car on the grid at the moment. The only problem is that he couldn’t perform there and it’s as simple is that. And it’s not about the car, the best drivers should be able to adapt to car’s characteristics. The way Carlos, Lando and Oscar did and Daniel just couldn’t do that
His fall in form coincides with some big reg changes, so my guess would be that simply F1 changed in a way it wouldn't fit his style. Some cars fit some drivers more than the others. Some can adapt more easily, some cannot. I think Daniel is a driver that can drive exceptionally well, way better than anyone else, but in a very narrow, ideal scenario, where car behaves exactly matching his driving style. Unfortunately for him, F1 changed in a way it no longer suits him and he struggles because of that.
Obviously these types of things can't be pinpointed to just one factor or day, but from a fans perspective I'll have to say it all came down crashing officially at Imola 2021. Ric clearly still struggling with that car, but perhaps more relevant was the massive development of Lando Norris. Being in contention for the front row (lap deleted), but ultimately so quick in the race that the only smart thing to do was to hit Ric with that team order message. Even if Ric had come to grips with that car he would've always been in the shadow of Lando at McLaren.
you see how much marketing weighs when cartillect cites two F2 pilots who arent even leading the championship, to replace dan, and not drugovich a literal F2 champion.
Was just spitballing names, drugovich is equally deserving of a seat. Ideally f1 is in need of an 11th team to free up space. It’s cruel that the f2 champion can go without an f1 seat.
Good video, and i like your editing and storytelling style. However i have one feedback. The "floaing effect" you used at 2:59 is a bit distracting and feels clunky. Sometimes its okay to let elements stay still, not everything has to be animated and moving. Great video 👍👍
Honestamente no entiendo por que lo sacan. Ya que su nivel es bajo. Pero no anduvo lejos de tsunoda. Y con este nivel sigue siendo mejor que zhou o bottas que no se por que siguen en f1
I mean let's put aside the question of how he's doing at RB against Tsunoda - he's not even approaching Checo, and if there isn't a hope for getting back into the Red Bull in a year's time then why would anyone continue down this path knowing that much better prospects (Lawson, Iwasa, other former- or non- RB Junior Team members) are ready to show what they can do?
People underestimate his age too. He's already 35. His young fearless attitude has gone. This new generation might be the best prepared generation of all time, with the amount of feeder series and lifelike simulators, and he falls outside of that genetation. He's right inbetween the Hamilton/Vettel generation and the Verstappen/Leclerc generation. And maybe Ricciardo was never true championship material in the first place like Hamilton or Vettel or Alonso. There's no denying his talent and abilities especially during 2014-2017 but maybe it wasnt because of raw talent like these world Champions, maybe it was because of his fearlessness, which will always reduce the older you get (especially if you have children or a family; that really slows drivers down because it makes them conscious of death)
He knew he was losing the battle against Max at RB and his ego didn't let that slide and thinking he can still be that strong driver in any team. its valid that no one wants to be the 2nd driver especially getting beaten by a younger driver but from that moment his career went downhill.
There’s a reason Redbull has an entire program dedicated to finding and training young drivers. To tailor them specifically for a Redbull seat, Redbull didn’t train Danny how to drive a Renault or McLaren and now he’s back in a car that’s quite literally passed him by and sadly he’s just too “old” at this point to be able to adapt. Life, man.
Not much to discuss, he's just not good enough and hasn't been for a long time. His personality has been getting him.driving seats the last few years, he needs to step down and make way because he's dead weight now
It seems to me that he didnt like Max being treated like the star of the team, and so he chose to leave, and then he realized he just isn’t on the same level, and it got to him.
You should have pointed out that it was announced he was leaving Renault and joining Mclaren before the 2020 season had even started. I think his crash with Max at Azerbaijan was the day that changed his career. He walked away from a fight and toward a team with an engine that had given him something like 8 DNF's that year. Red Bull switched to Honda and went into the stratosphere and Daniel wasted his best year in a Renault car and engine that just wasn't good enough, which is what prompted him to leave for Mclaren. It all starts with the decision to leave Red Bull, which even he himself was his biggest mistake. Only Red Bull and Mercedes have won championships in the last *15 years*. If you get a seat at Red Bull and you want a championship, leaving voluntarily is madness.
you really cant trust your gut to win a championship with, cough cough.. McLaren (they had what was essentially a rocketship in 2012 and they still managed to screw it up even with Lewis and JB behind the wheel)
Daniel Ricciardo is a myth. He is a prime example of how important first impressions and optics are important for a driver and his image in F1. The best position an F1 driver can be is as a WDC winner. The second best position is to be viewed as a "WDC material" without having the WDC. Ricciardo effectively built himself as a "WDC material" while performing against a Unmotivated Vettel who had one feet out of RedBull for Ferrari. He was taunted as a more "adaptable driver" compared to Vettel who failed to adapt to the diffuser changes in 2014. He then used that as a bar of soap until he saw the writing on the wall which was that the extremely fast yet mistake prone Max Verstappen was becoming less mistake prone. He realised that he can't project himself as a "WDC material" if he is getting beat by his teammate. This resulted in him running from RedBull. From his point of view it was still a great move as he got a ton of money while he can be the top dog driving a midfield car and can still keep his "WDC material" image which all came down crashing due to Norris beating him up like a piñata and him complaining about how he can't adapt to Mclaren, the one scenario that he didn't foresaw which ultimately exposed him.
I disagree with this video. Ricciardo's move to McLaren seemed like a step up from Renault in terms of prospects. The challenges related to the characteristics of the car are being blown out of proportion. Both Norris and Piastri are doing fine, and so did Sainz in the past. Adapting to change is fundamental in F1, and Ricciardo simply failed to adapt at McLaren. The turning point in his career was the day he chose to leave Red Bull. Not only was he running away from the challenge of Verstappen but more importantly he was moving to a less competitive car that had no real hope of becoming a title challenger. It seemed like an emotional decision and something seemed off about his whole approach. I don't see how you can justify that move in any way. In a super-competitive sport like F1 you can't afford to carry any baggage. Ricciardo certainly had some and it weighed him down over time. He had the wrong attitude and paid for it.
I felt sorry for Ricciardo during 2018. After that win in Monaco, his season was a disaster of continuous car problems, which led to a ton of DNFs and grid penalties that compromised his race (hitting Räikkönen in Belgium was his only error I can recall). I recall it being painful to watch.
He needs to race himself, not his team mate. You can't emulate another driver's style, you have to be able to do it yourself at your rhythm. Ricciardo thrived when he was the hot new thing or the #1 driver, but when confronted with a better team mate and a design philisophy that is very different I think he looks outside to improve. Gaining some insight via data is one thing, but even Christian Horner is on record about how Daniel had obviously altered his driving and developed some bad habits from McLaren - likely in an attempt to be closer to Lando.
The most important part of this whole video is that you mention the driving style issue going into McLaren... Congrats, you're 1 of 2 youtubers who know what they're talking about. Driver61 would be happy aha
Honestly, seeing Ricciardo try to point out car issues reminds me of Nikita Mazepin, granted, i did refer to his appearance in DTS, but that's really the only thing i had to know what Mazepin was like outside the track. Anyway, this comparison is painful for me to do, specially referring to my 2nd favorite F1 driver to still be on the grid. Once a driver with such high reputation, now a conflict between the former and the latter self, not able to understand or accept what's the problem
Personally (as a 33 year F1 fan) I see the root of Ricciardo's Downfall in the 2015 season because this was his chance to be a Nr 1 and he didnt behave as a Nr 1, he was beaten by Kvyat and didnt win a race. I think that was the basics for Marko seeing Verstappen potentially higher and preparing the way to favouritism to Max which then clearly surfaced. Had Ricciardo done a better job in his Nr 1 season in 2015, he may have never faced Max so early in 2016 etc etc. Just one of many opinions of course.
i agree with so many of the summaries of his driving ability, but formula 1 has now become more than that and danny rick is marketable. that’s why he got the seat
Lot of comments here about Daniel "running away from Max". While I'm convinced he moved because the writing was on the wall in terms of where the teams' focus would be (on Max) it's worth considering this quote: "Ricciardo however over their three seasons together toppled Verstappen with a combined 626 championship points compared to Verstappen's 621".
The problem was.. Max was going to get better.. Max already was matching ricciardo at 18 to 20 years of age. He would only get better and i think 2019 was a year that if Daniel stayed he would have heen obliterated.. not as bad as Gasly and Albon.. but very badly!. That is what people mean with running away from a fight.. it was going to be VERY tough if not a losing battle for Ricciardo.
Tbh, drive to survive brought Daniel Ric into world-wide fame but also brought him down as well. Seriously, how many fans of Daniel Ric really search for his brilliant overtaking skills but not the Monaco redemption race or those "funny memes". People has long forgot how good is Daniel Ric when he and Seb in the same team.

That was definitely one of the lowest points for Ricciardo. Thanks for watching !

He was a different guy in Red Bull, he was fearless. Some of those divebomb passes he made were incredible
No chance to beat Yuki.
Liam will be taking that seat at any moment
I wish he would’ve taken that seat in Indy car that McLaren were offering. I really think he could be competitive there. That style suits him really well and the Americans would love it. He would be a mega celebrity.
DNF in Japan before even finishing 1st lap😢 2024
The day he joined Renault, was the day he chose money over actual, tangible success.
Nah when he got to McLaren .. at Renault he was very good still
Nah 2020 was a good year for him,
He was still the number 1 driver at red bull when he left.
He didn’t choose money. He wanted to be no1 driver so he left. RB favoured Max. Learn your facts.
Horner is only reason he is still there. Daniel sounds like a newbie these days searching for excuses. Liam should have been in that seat form the start of the season.
as much as i love the guy, I agree completely.

A sound assessment.

Leaving Redbull before trying the Honda Engine was a big mistake.
It didn’t matter to him Max was the favorite, it should’ve been him after Seb not to replace Seb with max while he still was there. They were in favor of Max from the very first start.
Honda's results with Toro Rosso were hardly crap either. What, did he suddenly not trust the engineers at Red Bull?
@@GloomGaiGarBtw im not sided with Ricciardo or Horner on this but tbf, Danny has been fed up with mechanical failures and issues in 2018 being the driver with the most DNF's in that season (i think) and during that time Honda has a shit reputation (ask McLaren) so i kinda understand why Ricciardo didnt trust them.
Renault and Honda...... they were both shits so..... I don't blame him.
I started being interested into F1 about 2 years ago through Netflix.
And even though I had no idea about the mechanics, what I got from the first season was:
Riccardo wanted a reliable car.
100% the red bull days were fantastic, he did very well considering he never had the fastest car. 2014 was a great season for him.
If anything, his "media presence" / personality are exactly what pushed me away from being a fan. When the performances suck, head down and focus on learning the technical side, maybe some hours at the sim, instead of being a full time TikTok clown.,
Either focus on the sport like Kimi, Seb, Alonso or just go the hollywood path. It's sad that he kinda looks like a clown on the grid nowadays
Well, smile cant help him drive that he used to
I agree that leaving Red Bull was a huge mistake, I was a Ricciardo fan but it looked like he was running away from a fight. What really finished him off was not only a bad season with with McLaren
but the fact that he wasn't just sacked he was bought out for a huge amount of money.
At the time his wealth was estimated at 50 million dollars. He's got a farm in Western Australia,
a mansion in Beverly Hills surrounded by movie stars - owns a brewing company and a car
collection that includes at least 2 McLarens.
At RB, he's "was happy with his lap, but somehow slower than Yuki"
You can't rely on a driver's "Mojo" "Feels" "Vibes" forever... He needs to produce performances, yes, but also convincing explanations of his current pace, and a roadmap for mitigating his problems😅
well said
When he says that he's confused it means he no longer has a fire in his belly and needs to retire

@@xXIcariaXx that's facts at this point. Ofc his "media kit" is a part of the deal.
What do you mean about "IG Clown"???😂😂
Extremely high quality video, hope this channel continues to grow even bigger
Max: "Where did that take you? Back to me"
RB didn't want to pay him the same as max, so he looked elsewhere and signed with renault

Pride before the fall. Ricciardo clearly told the world when he left Red Bull that he cares about money more than stability and success. He also felt threatened by the rising star of Max.
Good video yet again... As much as i want to see Liam in that seat, I'd really like to see old Danny back. But, alas i think that spark has gone out.
You and me both, i hate watching him struggle recently.
This is very true, likely a massive factor.
I think The obscene amount of money Renaults paid him is what changed him . He is too comfortable and busy minded with life
Obviously these types of things can't be pinpointed to just one factor or day, but from a fans perspective I'll have to say it all came down crashing officially at Imola 2021.
An 80 point gap in 2022 is crazy
He's my favorite driver, and im sad seeing him back down, i hope he will get that RedBull seat
you see how much marketing weighs when cartillect cites two F2 pilots who arent even leading the championship, to replace dan, and not drugovich a literal F2 champion.
I actually edited that 11 months ago for another video i never ended up posting haha, i agree completely. Thanks for watching!
Father Time & lack off adaptability remains undefeated.
With outstanding younger drivers available, Daniel time is ending.
Honestamente no entiendo por que lo sacan. Ya que su nivel es bajo. Pero no anduvo lejos de tsunoda. Y con este nivel sigue siendo mejor que zhou o bottas que no se por que siguen en f1
This was a pretty nice video man, more than enough for a sub. Keep it up! :D
Thanks a ton!
Hope Dan can get back to high point's finishes & back to a top team & WIN!! HE CA DO IT!!!
I will always support you Daniel Riccardo no matter what ❤❤🎉
He knew he was losing the battle against Max at RB and his ego didn't let that slide and thinking he can still be that strong driver in any team. its valid that no one wants to be the 2nd driver especially getting beaten by a younger driver but from that moment his career went downhill.
He was loosinbg tyhe battle because Marko wanted Ves to be clear number one so he got the new stuff way before DR same for Webber and Vettlel
he pretty much had it with Helmut (but then again, Marko has 2 eyes and only 1 of them functions properly)
everyday i think of what he could’ve been if he didn’t leave redbull
He needs to stop obsessing about the Red Bull seat and just embrace and focus on his opportunity at VCARB
Life, man.
Albon?
Great video! Thanks 😊
Not much to discuss, he's just not good enough and hasn't been for a long time. His personality has been getting him.driving seats the last few years, he needs to step down and make way because he's dead weight now
There's too much talent in the next generation. I think he could have a huge role in the media if he wanted to.
From his point of view it was still a great move as he got a ton of money while he can be the top dog driving a midfield car and can still keep his "WDC material" image which all came down crashing due to Norris beating him up like a piñata and him complaining about how he can't adapt to Mclaren, the one scenario that he didn't foresaw which ultimately exposed him.
amazing video
He had the wrong attitude and paid for it.
it has been 14 years since his first race in F1. That is plenty of time if he had something to proof. It is better to give the seat to younger drivers
Him being interviewed on drive to survive and leaving Red Bull. Idiot should’ve stayed in rb.
What ever happens from now he has had a great career.
Very true
The most important part of this whole video is that you mention the driving style issue going into McLaren... Congrats, you're 1 of 2 youtubers who know what they're talking about. Driver61 would be happy aha
Danny Ric, the only driver who actually challenged Max at Red Bull. He should've stayed at keep challenging Max, instead he ran away.
The races he was able to beat the much faster Mercedes shows he had something special. Lewis has not been able to do the same in the last 2 years.
This will either be the greatest comeback or the worst fall from grace in F1 history
I think Ricciardo is also just not as well suited to the 2022-2025 generation of cars as he was previous generations.
I think you are right
Personally (as a 33 year F1 fan) I see the root of Ricciardo's Downfall in the 2015 season because this was his chance to be a Nr 1 and he didnt behave as a Nr 1, he was beaten by Kvyat and didnt win a race.
Kvyat was absolutely underrated, shouldve got the promotion to RBR instead of Albon (which did more harm for his career than good)
Watching this after he being fired is pure pain
Bro, watching Danny every weekend is what keeps me going. Hopefully he continues driving somewhere, even WEC 😭😭
Dude, great video! Your thumbnail is a killer, do you have any guide to how to do it? In wanted to make exactly that type and you video popped up
i agree with so many of the summaries of his driving ability, but formula 1 has now become more than that and danny rick is marketable. that’s why he got the seat
