Nicely explained, I am from India we do 500+ of them on daily basis in akhara... Also it is extremely powerful in shredding body fat than any other cardio movement.
Indians have not forgotten about these exercises. People of all nationalities have been doing squats and pushups in different styles during a single workout for years.
Do these with a jump and go for 3 minutes straight. Heart rate similar to sprinting. Great idea one of the best exercises i have ever done. Plus you can do it anywhere!
Sapate is a great exersise which is help to gain stamina and endurance and same time it will help to burn fat just serch in youtube SAPATE u will get more information there
I did that with normal burpees. Slow creates the time under tension that builds strength. Going to try this version as it looks so much more controlled than standard burpee.
That's so great to hear! And thank you for the encouragement. Beyond Bodyweight Training DVD - That was a great DVD. Sadly, and quite embarrassingly, we actually sold the master copy by accident. It is lost forever except for what remains inside John and my head...Unless someone returns it!
Hi Tim. What are your thoughts on the third part of Matt Furey's "royal court," the back bridge? Would you say it is a reset too? I find it's a great way to stretch out the lumbar spine (as well as thoracic), while forcing the hips and shoulders to stabilize, almost like an elevated roll. Is there a reason why you haven't done a video on it? Thanks in advance.
Hey, thanks for the question. I really like back bridging and think they feel amazing. Furey has lots of movement wisdom and has been an influential person in my movement journey. I haven't done any videos on bridges because I try to keep my videos "doable" for most people, though I may not always hit that mark. Not all people have the shoulder, thoracic, or hip flexibility to perform back bridges - YET. Maybe we can help with that, huh? As far as it being a reset, well, i suppose it could be, or at least breathing while bridging could be. Thank you so much. You've given me something to think about as far as helping people bridge. I appreciate the question!
I call that type of push-up a "half Hindu". Don't understand why you don't sort of duck down between your hands on the way back up, basically the reverse of the first half of the move. Makes it a far more effective move. I did 90 of them Sunday, and my tris are still sore.
Yes, the move you are talking about I call Dive-bombers. I don't do them because I don't like them - no other reason. It's a great movement, I just don't enjoy it. The half hindu feels good, that's why I do it. Thanks for sharing!
Tim, another great video. Super stuff. I did this for 5 minutes last night and it felt good. One question, when coming back up to standing should you put your heals back on the ground or stay on your toes.
Thanks Gareth! When standing back up, if you want to be more inline with the traditional Hindu Squat, go back to the toes. However, it is okay to stay on the heals. It really just depends on how you want to play and explore your squat. Keep up the good work!
Tim, I am started to use this in a pyramid daily (i.e. do 1 hindu squat, then 1 hindu push up, then 2, 3 etc) and then all the way back down again. I have got up to 8 which means 64 reps of each. I want to get to 10 so that I am doing 100 of each every day. One question, how do you compaure hindu squat to a deep bodyweight squat?
I’m not a stickler for how to breathe as long as you breathe. BUT practicers would probably tell you to breathe in as you sqaut and exhale as you stand, and breathe in as you fold into a downward dog and and exhale as you dive through.
I have a question please on how would you modify this for a beginner who does not have the strength to do the pushup (even on its own with the forearms on the ground)
I may start here: ruclips.net/video/afRQnOfU8sY/видео.html - work on building control and fluidity and then go here once I'm ready: ruclips.net/video/PAaKYS3hYp0/видео.html You could also work on holding the downward dog position and work on transitions back and forth from the cobra pose. Hope this helps.
@@OriginalStrengthSystem Thank you Tim. I have been watching many of your videos and podcasts and they are so good. I have purchased the live stream of the Pressing Reset and just started that today. I think I will start there first and work my way into the above videos as I have a long way to go before being able to do the hindu pushups. I am loving reading the Pressing Reset book.
No, they may actually be good for your knees. If it helps, your body is made to move and it’s made to move well. Is it logical that your body would easily and naturally move in ways that were bad for it? Of course, let your body guide you. IF something hurts, don’t do it. Don’t move into pain. But curiously explore where your body will let you move. It knows what to do.
But its beautiful amd good and white or not he walks with God because his showing and sharing for free amd hes got my approval and i bless him with my heart ❤ as hes not a foreigner he 1 of us as learning or teaching of whats good and we are good and bless it our ways spread throughout the world so all man kind would benifit with healthy minds and body
Try other variations of Hindu pushup (dand) like the RAMMURTI DAND, Hanuman DAND, Chakar dand and there many more. Challenging yes, tough Yes good for endurance and conditioning Yes. Fun??? you decide 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Nicely explained, I am from India we do 500+ of them on daily basis in akhara... Also it is extremely powerful in shredding body fat than any other cardio movement.
I think these are some of the most helpful, strengthening and healing movements. So much more to them than meets the eye. Thanks for commenting!
You mean as the 2 exercises separately or combined together?
Separate, apart from one another
@@OriginalStrengthSystem Fair enough, thinking of getting back into doing them, after my main routine for the mixture of cardio and strengthening.
How does they compare to surya namaskars? Thx!
I am so glad I found this Channel, he looks so calm and genuine and explains it all so easily
Good to see that foreigner showing interest in Hindu exercises. This is the irony that almost every Indian forgot these exercises.
Prakash Usha yes bro

That's fantastic! Thank you for sharing!

This combo is already a fully body exercise: excellent! upperbody and lower body. Talk about time saving
Throw in a pull
Hindu Burpee! :-)

Hi, The slow variant that you demonstrated was truly amazing. The slow variant tests both strength and patience.
I'm glad it was helpful. Thanks so much for commenting.
Awesome books tim! You have given me my life back! Whatever happened to the beyond bodyweight training dvd with you and John Brookefield?
That's so great to hear! And thank you for the encouragement.

Very functional training 😎 It’s crazy so slowly you can do the exercises 👍🏼 - it’s really nice and very inspiring 🙏🏼 And cool T-shift 😛🤩

Are those squats bad for your knees? The knees need to stay behind the toes, no?

Sir, can i do hindu pushups daily.
Absolutely! They are a fantastic daily movement
Breathing pattern?
I’m not a real breathing pattern purist. I am a fan of just trying to breathe in a rhythm that allows me to move fluidly.
Or walk the hands forward
Im practicing hindu squats lately next i will practice hindu push ups and do the Hindu burpee...
Enjoy the practice, Andrew! It’s hard to go wrong with these movements!
It is called ' Sapate'. Indian wrestlers practice this
And the Sapate is awesome.
Basically a burpee variation

This is called sapate in Indian wrestling. Its simply burpees with dand and baithak combined.

I love all the dand versions!
Hindu burpees nice!
The combination of Dand (Hindu pushup) and Bhaitak(Hindu squat) is called sapate
Thank you!
One could call it a Hindu Burpee😊
Combining these two exercises = SAPATE ...yes we call it in sapate exercise in hindi
Wow! Thanks so much for the information!

This called sapate in india

Why bother?
Do a set of each one after the other.
