i love Reno and his personality. They really nailed him in the Remake, i think they got his character and personality just right
Agree, still playing the Remake but the Turks appear great so far, exactly as I picture them.
I often hear complaints of how changed he seems, but people don't realize his new disposition ties to the fact that rather than simply run away, something he is fine with, Cloud goes in for the kill, which pissed Reno off and got his backup to actually put in an attempt to stop Aerith and Cloud of only because of Cloud's altered behavior.
This time it really is personal.
@@Konivingtbf; they nailed him in advent children too; and in kingdom hearts as axel so
The Turks and the wider Shinra network are actually the characters I'm most interested in seeing come to life through this remakes. The Turks (namely Reno/Rude but I liked Elena for comic relief as well) were among my favorite secondary characters. I always dug on their "I'm just doing my job" attitude and the way they acted while in Wutai during that questline.
great video!
Yeah I'm at Wutai now doing that sidequest, it's really a great angle for those guys... and I agree, I think the Turks were among the best secondaries we encountered in this game.
I loved how they were portrayed on Remake, seeming to carry on all the character development from Crisis Core and Before Crisis
What I love about this game is that even these minor characters have so much personality. Even someone like tSeng who hardly has any screen time I can tell what he's about.
You know... I don’t get why a vocal minority of FF7 fans are so adamant about characters being portrayed EXACTLY how they were in the original game in supportive material. Don’t they want three dimensional characters and not carbon cutout archetypes? When I saw Reno and Rude in Advent Children I just considered it character development, the company they worked for is no longer a fascist pseudo-dictatorship and now they can lighten up a bit and be more themselves.
Same.
this is exactly it, people don’t seem to understand that events in the earlier periods of the timeline affected and helped characters to mature or change as people, but they don’t seem to believe in character development and just think it’s inconsistency 🤨🤨
Yeah, Reno literally says to rude at the beginning that they have a lot to make up for, and the general attitude of Rufus and the Turks is one of remorse and a desire to make up for what they’ve done. Idk why people take issue with that
"They're appealing precisely because they're ruthless etc"
THANK YOU. I made this point on tumblr when the Ultimania guide came out stating that Reno has misgivings about Shinra's direction, and there seemed to be some celebration of this good-washing. It's so misleading, because no... he doesn't. Nothing in either the OG or the Remake gives that impression; in fact, it seems they've backtracked on Reno's character from AC to make him more ruthless, amoral, and-frankly-a bit unhinged. I was always pissed with AC because Reno and Rude (and Rufus for that matter) seemed so freaking out of character. I had pointed out that characters do not need to be boyscouts to be enjoyable, and the reason we loved The Turks in the first place was because of the criminal aspects of their behavior, and their moral ambiguity. They gave no f*cks, ever. I don't know why the developers felt the need to make Shinra sympathetic. We loved them as bastards.
"We loved them as bastards" - thank you, says it all :)
The Turks are some of my favourite characters. Thank you!
yea i def hope reno isn't comic relief like Advent Children. he can be funny, but he should still be threatening and unpredictable in his moral compass. based on the remake trailers it seems they are gonna nail it. can't wait for the game on the 10th!
He actually is acting like he should. They only went ruthless because the job, otherwise Reno is just comedic relief but a strong ass character still.
I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned it, but Before Crisis was recently remade by a fan in RPG Maker
It's not the same as the original, but it's still a pretty nice way to enjoy the story
How was Tseng retconned in Advent Children for the 5 seconds he was on screen? LoL. They gave like no care to his character design either. He looks fantastic now in the remake.
A few people argue he was killed by Sephiroth at the Temple of the Ancients... but I just played through that bit and you speak to him when you enter, so I'm not sure where the idea came from.
@@AlleywayJack its also hinted that kadaj killed him but that's quickly retconned because he shows up literally 10cseconds later lol he threw tsengs and elenas turk ids at Rufus hinting he killed them but they were then both seen alive saving Rufus
@@rosegokublack9863 They were tortured.
@@GeorgiaAndrea well when remake is all well and done I dont know how many parts total this better not be Shenmue if you heard of that 1990s games its still ongoing. The point is when we get done with remake stories I hope they do something about Doing a Advent Children into the game
My favourites are Reno and Tseng.
In my opinion the Turks derserved his own game...
Anyway, many, many thanks for this wonderfull vid! 😘😘👍👌
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
i think the thing i love most about the Turks in FF7 is that so many of there fights are optional, including your final one where you can just say "no lets not" when you run into them and they just say goodbye and leave
Hmm, the Turks always interest me on how well they complement the Shin-Ra company. It gives us perspective on how the company really thrives, by doing dirty behind the scenes work rather than the good image that they set out to the public. Even though they do dirty work, the Turk members, I think they were all kinda fleshed out and we can see and understand on how each individual members work with each other.
I'm always curious as to why there were not so many of the Turks that appeared in the original, even though the compilation has shown us that there are a lot of these guys.
Then, I known about Before Crisis, and damn, a lot of these guys are pretty fun and interesting characters. Makes me feel interested on how upbeat Turk members such as Elena and Shotgun to an extent, want to even join this group. But, knowing about Before Crisis just picqued my interest toward this group as well.
I wonder what will they do in the remake with old fans knowing that there's a lot of these guys running in the backgroud? Will they stay faithful or will they change? Since, Zack is one of the major changes in the remake, I wonder if the Turks will be more involved in the events or not. Then again, maybe it's just me that wants to know what Cissnei's real name is lol. Sorry if it's too long, just wanted to put out my two cents on the subject. Interesting analysis btw. Hope you improve more.
I think the Turks are a good example of Chaotic Neutral done right.
Great video! I hope the expand on Rufas character. I would like top see multiple 1v1 fights with him and Cloud.
Square just dropped the final FF7R trailer, Rufus looks ace: ruclips.net/video/72Y7DplcyR8/видео.html
I have hope that theyll be faithful to the original in the remake because there is that clip of Cloud dressed as a woman, which they could have very easily cut. That shows me that there are certain aspects that they know are important to the feel of 7, so hopefully that will extend to the Turks too.
I love Reno and Rufus so much
, love the Turks even more than Cloud team!
enjoyed this video,thank you!!
Thank you too, glad you enjoyed it !
Need a final fantasy mod where you play as the turks tracking the main party, idk what the boss battlea would be but let's do it
So many possibilities with Turks gameplay, detective stuff, interrogation stuff, combat stuff. I'm not usually a fan of spin-offs but there's a lot that could be done with the Turks.
@@AlleywayJack Yeah seriously, assuming they were trailing the main partyy from the beginning, would be noice to have a different vantage point to all the moments that occured over the course of the story
This doesn't have anything to do with the Turks per se, but I'd be interested while you're in a mood around FF7, to see you do some videos about the wider parts of FF7, as in specifically Crisis Core or Advent Children. Might be there's not a terrible need for it, but I know that more than once you've said something about the non-core-game lore (like something about Zach from Crisis Core", and having not consumed (or at least not really understood) some of those pieces I'm just left thinking "Oh, okay, I guess -that_ thing happened there."
Thanks for the suggestion, I'm going to finish the remake and probably discuss that, then I may dip into peripheral material later down the line, as I think it's worth considering.
Do you have a Rufus explained video?
Hi, yes I do: ruclips.net/video/UEj9ckBopxs/видео.html
Before Crisis really doesn't make since considering they have retold the Nibelhiem story again and added another character that was there again
And also just made Sephiroth just throw himself into the lifestream rather than Cloud stabbing him in the back
And now that we have a bit of the Turks in the remake, how do you feel about them now?
I thought they were great. They were offered a bit more context and three-dimensionality without compromising legacy aspects of their character. It didn't moralise them, but it did make them (particularly Reno) question the genocidal act of bringing the plate down. It worked for me.
@@AlleywayJack I also like that Reno is altered in reaction to the altered actions of Cloud.
I think they had done a great job on the remake with the Turks
Agree, they were great.
have you considered doing one on fujin and raijin?
I'd never considered it, but now you mention it I'm not sure why not, because I think those two are great.
Hope they show best girl Cissinei in the remake
I'm interested to see where they take the Turks and SOLDIER in the Remake. Wondering if they'll take the opportunity to do anything with Cissnei or Zack. Hoping Midgar is as lively as it can be.
It'll be interesting to see the wider departments and relationships within Shinra, all we saw in FF7 was some Turks, some scientists, and a couple of SOLDIER (Cloud/Sephiroth/Zack). Crisis Core expanded on that a bit, but it'll be interesting to see the remake approach.
@@AlleywayJack I'm just glad the whole SOLDIER department didn't just up and vanish after Zack and Sephiroth. It always struck me as odd that the top brass never filled those 1st and 2nd Class spots. Hopefully we'll run into more than just motorcycle-guy from the trailer.
And, presumably, SquareSoft didn't make the Turks feel remotely close to anything Turkish (not even Janissaries or Nizam-i Cedid, but, of the two I would have preferred to base Turks on Nizam-i Cedid over Janissaries, because, even though both were elite Ottoman units when they existed, the Nizam-i Cedid wasn't nearly as politically influential as the Janissaries were) because the Turkish government might have been angry back when the original game was released...
I honestly think some new game... maybe a spinoff into it's own series... coming off of the Remake series, should be a game with the Turks as the main characters... not just here or there, like with Advent Children, and the like, where they mix in with Avalanche pre and post VII, but, a full series showing them personally after VII Remake, in their own full adventures, showing a redemption arc for them, with each game, as they try to rebuild the world into a better place... Reno and Rude as the mains, obviously, but with other Turks to join them as a third member before each chapter, or mission, that they can switch out after each mission is over... possibly with replayability for each mission, to see, "Or, this is how it could have happened...", so they can see how the mission would have gone with a different member, each mission having different components that would work, or, simply work better, with one Turk over another, and new dialogue for each one used.
Elena with strength, endurance, and survivability over experience, with a mix of average melee, pistol, martial arts, and explosives attacks, the versatile member of the group, not great at any attack, but able to power through battles.
Tseng as average in stats, but, high dexterity to hit and dodge, with strong unarmed martial arts and high tactical experience, possibly with the ability to use weapons like nunchuks, or average sized swords... compared to most seen in the VII series... for slightly better range, to increase his ability to hit and dodge attacks, at the expense of extra attacks per round barehanded, the FFI Monk/Black Belt of the game.
Vincent Valentine, as he normally is portrayed, for strong long range attacks with his guns, and finding enemy weaknesses.
Reeves, now in charge of the Turks, their moral compass in trying to keep them on the good path, even as anti-heroes, working from the safety of his office, while using Cait Sith in missions for hacking and support, both moral and functional.
Possibly even finding new recruits for the Turks here and there... possibly one, or more, in each game, who could show up in future installments.
They mass slaughtered for a known corrupt, evil corporation not once thinking perhaps to join the party in helping people instead of serving Shinra. I heard people saying, "Well Shinra would kill them if they didn't do it." Well Shinra tried to kill Cloud and company too but they don't cower. Great characters but not at all likeable to me. It is interesting how they tried to make murderers likeable.
Them and the SOLDIER core were trained and to make a life off their spec ops missions just like in real life. cloud and co. Killed thousands of grunts who had families and didn’t know how bad shinra was that’s the whole point of the game it’s not black and white it’s grey. Not only that they got everyone in sector 7 killed from the plate dropping because barret liked talking to the cameras and broadcasting rather than staying anonymous so it was easy to pin them for it only difference between the Turks and the party is a paycheck
i genuinely loved the depiction of them in the remake and the the re-cast, particularly reno.
his old voice actor worked for the comic relief but now he sounds like the threat, a sinister side in his tone.
the only thing i will nit-pick is i think they’d be better off giving him a bit more of a backbone as the second-in-command because he became a little too pathetic in remake so i really hope they keep the corneo drop.
can tseng fight?
like other members, I've never seen him fight
good question, i also want to see him in battle. we know that he uses a pistol and never misses a shot. but i'd like to see him in action in rebirth hopefully
Reno is the g.o.a.t 👌🏽💯
Ah the Jerks.
Really though they killed thousands of innocent people, jerks is an understatement
Tusong protected Val.
I don’t get the Turks are they actual Turks like the Turkish people coz I had a mate that went crazy when he was playing
I think it's supposed to relate to the term 'Young Turks' which is a catch-all term for political rebelliousness. It's Turkish in origin and relates to how the young generation in Turkey fought to overthrow the Ottoman Empire... I have a feeling its supposed to hint at how the Turks are a young rebellious faction within Shinra, but that's just my opinion!
Redcoat is this meant to make the Turks look bad or what
Do they know why Constantinople got the works? Given that it's nobody's business but theirs, I would assume so.
It's nobody's business but the tuuuurks
I don't know why but honestly the Turks looked better in there navy blue business suits
God Reno is hot
Are the Turks based on a group or a culture? Turks in real life are both European and Asian depending on who you ask, the people fits perfectly with ff characters.
Are the Turks the strongest after soldiers? They are the only ones besides bosses that compete with the crew.
Have you never see the Turks game. It started the beginning of all of ff7.
Yes you mean Before Crisis?
im not saying Square should change it whatsoever, but I'm just wondering out of all names for such an elite unit. Why are they called the Turks BAHAHA it sounds goofy and does not live up to the elite status so to speak
Yeah, they're officially called the 'department of research administration' in Shinra but I think the informal term 'Turks' is supposed to allude to 'Young Turks' which is a term for rebelliousness, particularly within a political party (which is similar to the Turks in-fighting with members of Shinra I guess).
🇹🇷
The Turks are the main story of ff7.
Why are they Turks?
@@NuevoExistence okey understand but why?
What I don't like is your use of the word albeit... that's a pretentious ass word to use
I admit it's a bit old fashioned
He’s got a better vocabulary than you. Deal with it.
@@Santana_Art I highly doubt it I don't need to use pretentious words like that one to try to be eloquent.
@@Santana_Art Sure he does and you would know that how? You don't know anything about me so how would you know how I talk? Me and my friend went on a trip and I told him "Here we will be witness to a pristine unfettered sky" I talk like that on a regular basis, so much that I have to dumb myself down for ignorant people such as yourself sometimes even for white people who've only been speaking English their whole lives.
@@AlleywayJack Not old fashioned per say but it just feels to me people use that word to try to feel cultured when there are other words that would convey the same thing much better, without making you sound like a tool haha, but don't take it seriously that's the only thing that bothered me personally, overall it was a pretty intricate and well elaborated video keep up the good work
