Super Mario Bros 3 (Warpless TAS) 🤯 NES Atlas
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 14 июл 2024
- Featuring the longest Atlas Video ever created with a complete, warpless TAS of Super Mario Brothers 3 on the NES! In addition to the 100+ hours of my own editing, this video also includes the work of expert TAS'ers adelikat, andymac, Lord Tom, and Tompa as well as visuals by Atlas Map cartographers J.J. Maxx, JonLeung, KingKuros, mephea, Revned, and Zeric. So a special thanks to the TASVideos & VGMaps communities which helped make this video possible! Also, I consider this only 85% complete as it's missing some special effects and for that I apologize.
Let me know what you would like to see next!

34:08 Just realized this world is shaped like 3 pipes. 😮
:000000
DAFUUUUC
in words, it's called pipe land, and as the game is the 3rd in the series (except smb2j), what else could they do other than shaping the world into the shape of 3 pipes
This perspective makes you realized that the game has tons of secrets above and below.
Only ur perspective, to people who finish the game without warp zone, already knew all this secrets
@@luisangelcastillo289 eran días muy entretenidos
@@luisangelcastillo289 me too.
Already know most of them anyway
@@luisangelcastillo289 You are a liar.
Man, replaying SMB3 recently, the levels all seem way, way smaller than the MASSIVE LANDSCAPES FULL OF ADVENTUUUUUREEEEE they seemed to be when I was a tiny child and the game was the state of the art as far as video games went. But seeing them like this, they feel even smaler still... it feels so wrong, man! Every single one seemed like such a sprawling, fantastic world full of imagination and heart in 1990 but now they just look like tiny little chunks of turf. Really, really fun and masterfully-crafted turf, though.
i suppose the levels in SMB3 were designed to be little short bursts of challenge. Perhaps that is why each world can have as many as 8 of them
Levels were shorter but still a great game
The fact it wasn't possible to save back then probs didn't encourage long levels.
You're not wrong. To me the levels always seemed really short in SMB3. But it worked for the concept.
Something to keep in mind is SMB3 levels have no checkpoints. Instead it's a way larger quantity of bitesize levels.
I love that approach.
3:59 that moment when you grab the scepter and that tiny room disappears, to reveal a sky that takes up the entire screen as you fall back to Earth...
gave me goosebumps! Well done!
Wait...... oh nvm that definitely does not happen (it does lmao)
35:40 Favorite level right here.
Lol, skipped! 😅😅
Me to
Boss time
This is cool! It’s like watching a TAS run through a Nintendo Power magazine. 😎
Lol I was going to say, this looks like the maps from Nintendo Power magazines.
9:40 Haha, the programmers drew a face in the sky using coins and a track at the end of World 3, Level 2. I've never seen that before. Thanks for making. This is cool!
+Rickman Origami I noticed it, and thought the same thing. It's like a extra bonus of watching this.
Rickman Origami i thinks it resembles an elephant
Rickman Origami im pretty sure that was in the original game
that's what he said fool
Definitely does not look like a fucking face. Looks like scrambled mess.
"Lord Bowser, Ludwig's airship is reporting. They have just engaged Mario."
"What?! But that's impossible! It's only been a half-hour!"
"Reports from defeated platoons indicate the enemy has been... phasing through walls, sir."
"Mario...!"
supercomputer276 lol
Super Mario 64 also confirms this
i wanna like but its at 69 D:
"Anything else he's done?"
"Jumping at walls, ducking for no reason, I could go on! Heck, he's even killed Boom-Boom in a matter of seconds!"
"Shit."
I was thrown by how the enemy characters mostly stay still until Mario's in the area. Then I remembered: The basic premise of this game is that the characters are actually putting on a stage play. They're just waiting for their cues! Brilliant!
Or it's because it's a waste of resources to move characters that are off screen
@@ninjaguyYTThat's the technical reason, but the narrative justification is a fun framing device so it's both at once.
Coolest TAS I've ever seen. Now I want to see SO MANY GAMES done like this! Excellent work!
I uhhhh just checked out the channel (which I had no idea existed)... so yeah. Subscribed.
This hurts my head as to how much work must've gone into it. Everything is animating when technically off screen, this is simply remarkable. Absolutely brilliant.
It's finally here! So cool. Only halfway through, will watch rest later. I love what you did with the map screen scrolling.
9:41 Whoa.

This is an amazing perspective that I never knew I've always wanted. Thank you for your time an effort on such a task.
Is there a way you can give Super Mario 2 the same treatment? Preferably a warpless TAS, so as to really enjoy the nuances of all the worlds and levels. I'd really look forward to it.
***** I'd also really like to see this done and I think it'd actually take a lot less work compared to SMB3 as well. I think I'll make it my next project ;)
I’d like to see that
@@NESAtlas sweet
Going by your anime pfp i think your talking about the japan smb2
@@YoudonknowwhoIam That's quite the baseless assumption
Feels so strange seeing nearly the whole structure of a world at once.
18:38 LOL
Haha
Very out of sync though. Which is terrible since it is a TAS.
@Manuel Salokangas Do or do not.
@darvinrajYT I'm always chill.
Wow, really puts a new perspective on things when you see the big picture.

(slow clap)...Beautiful..just..BEAUTIFUL! SMB3 is one of my all time favorite NES games & to see it done "atlas style" was 49mins & 30secs of joy! Been waiting for this one for a while & I gotta say, worth it! Thanks AV :P
18:39 Lol, Mario's jumps sound like airship soundtrack xD
Haha.
@Some Random Drawing I don't know if Tomi was making a joke, but either way, Imma r/woooosh you. r/woooosh
@Some Random Drawing I think Tomi has making a joke.
@Some Random Drawing Ok.
@Some Random Drawing RIGHT
I'm always coming back to this masterpiece.
This is amazing, I can only imagine the amount of work put into this.
This is such a cool perspective to see one of my favorite games of all time from! It's just a shame it took me 6 years to find this video. Thanks for the effort put into this project.
Me too.

This is absolutely amazing! It showed up on my recommendations. I already subscribed to the channel to check more videos! THANKS!
I watched this with the sound off and I could still hear it all in my head
I've been playing this game since 1990 and I never knew how much stuff was hidden in these levels until today.
This is simply amazing ! I really can't imagine how you're doing this. I'd love to see complete regular longplays of many games done this way, like Legacy of the Wizard or Zelda II for example. I'd be willing to pay to see that.
"Lord Bowser, Mario first engaged our troops about fifteen minutes ago, and he has already defeated three Koopalings. At this rate, he will be here within the hour. Your orders?"
"...Give him hell."
"Yes, sir."
The overworld and the maps are like the world's largest Pac-Man maze game were you play as Pac-Man and go through a lot of custom mazes online.
Amazing work guys!
the best 49 minutes of quarantine :)
Oh so this is what you've been working on. This is gonna be awesome.
Wow this is just amazing!!!! I wonder how hard it must had been for you to get this
I cant even imagine the time and effort that went into this. Truly impressive video!
These can be Almost Perfectly Recreated in Super Mario Maker 2!
But the pñprobelm is that that would take way too long
This was well worth the wait. Awesome!
i had subscribed to you years ago when you suddenly stopped making these. it's nice to see you back
This was the best way imo to watch any run. I just literally watched my childhood struggles squashed in like 5 seconds xD
Interesting. I never knew the monsters and traps were inactive until they were on camera.
Oh look, it's Super Mario Bros 3K
It's 1:30 AM, I'm really tired, and I want to sleep...
BUT THIS IS SO ENTHRALLING!
What I find impressive about this video is that, unlike most of the other ones, it actually tracks the behavior of off-screen enemies. It definitely adds a bit more insight into the workings of the stages, as well as making the stages feel more "alive".
It's my favorite Mario of all the time... it's hundreds of times better than the world one on snes. The first time i've played this, was the remaster con the all starts version. Every time you defeat a koopaling and mario floats to the ground again gives me chills, so nostalgic. Amazing job. You've won a one more sub.
i like the color palette of each and every level!
how you actually pre-render enemy movements before they enter the actual screen makes this very favorable to watch!
I love how they made it so you can see so much of the map on screen
It's great to see the hidden things as well, like the face at the end of level 3-2 :D
Gosh that was so gooooood to watch! Well made video :)
This makes me think of those flash games that show a LOT of the level.
Fyrurtfsffdbi
Really really good guy! I notice his attention to innovate in their work for a few details that may go unnoticed. eg now all over the map this interacting with the animations. this gives a much more realistic view of what is observed an atlas of the game. I also have to congratulate the player responsible for the gameplay. proved to be a fine connoisseur of classic games! The least I can do and let my like and favorite. congratulations, great job!
Very interesting to see a greater portion of the screen. I never knew about the "face" at the level at 9:45. Neat!
Dudfufifififu
wow, this wide screen is refreshing to watch.
i love it
You can swim under the second and third ships in the second level of World 8. That red liquid is not lava, it's water.
but its slower
@@telaketju621 It's an auto scroll level, which nullifies any speed advantage you'd otherwise have by not swimming.
What an interesting perspective! You can practically see the "screen" around mario, when enemies become active once they're within X amount of pixels to him.
Excelente video!! Muy bueno todo.
Fascinating. What a neat idea, and a great way to gain perspective on the level design.
Man!!! This is so Cool and intresting !! Bravo and tnx 🙋🏻♂️
too amazing :D wonderful job!!
This is amazing. Good job :3
I've wanted this type of view on asonic level forever
8:54 just noticed the toad house island is shaped like a mushroom which matches perfectly with the toad houses
I've always wanted to see the whole view of it such a master piece
This is so amazing!!! Why have I never seen this??? ❤❤❤❤😱😱😱😱
VGMaps.com brought me here, this is the first time i saw this thing, nice to meet you
Yes quack!?. Yes Acro :(
This perspective reveals a lot about the game
It's finally here! PRAISE THE ATLAS!
This is your masterpiece.
Really cool stuff, would have been even cooler to see somewhat of a guessed position for hammer bros and stuff out of sight just like in world 1 but as you said, this is probably a lot to ask seeing what you already did. Great job !
Cool concept!
Best SMB3 video, EVER.
This is incredible
World 4 almost looks normal sized in this resolution. xP
The power of Ultrawide
What sorcery is this?! Seriously though, how did you do this? Amazing work.
excellent work
通常の画面で見ると早いはずなのに、画面が広いからすごく遅く感じるww
素敵な動画ありがとう♡
this view is genius. subscribed
(18:39) When the TAS'er gets bored...
Lmao he looked like he bad total ADHD
If you look at the level timer, he's going so fast it's actually getting relativistic
Neat observation
Now this some great info I still remember most of the secrets of this game still amazing after 30 years. I still got the guide to this, I don't know where I put it.
I've seen a lot of TAS runs of many games, but none of them were as beautiful as this one... Pretty awesome!!! Wonder if you have other games with screens like this one.
Sir, I think you just won the Internet. Bravo!
Freaking excellent.

Yeah. I’ve noticed that.
hehe
wtf
Heck yeah got that early hammer in world 2 🎉
This is impressive. Needs more hits! Well done.
RUclips algorithm bring me here, and I love it!!!!
same lmfao
Beautiful
Wow! What a good gamer. Respect for you.👍👍👍
Mind Blown.
Its so trippy to see things suddenly dissapear from the screen thanks to the camera placement.
This is what gaming was like in the MS-DOS era for games that allowed you to change the resolution, like if they were 320x200 by default but had the option to go 1024x768.
BEAUTIFUL
I never realized how small the levels actually were
This is an amazing video but if i were a millionaire i will pay you to finish all of the levels
at world 4 the levels and their assets make this start to look like a weird online flash game
Wonderful!!!
I would love it if you do this with Adventure Island II or III!
Flawless Victory!
