    Oh boy do I get it. I too am a single income household. Make fairly decent income working in healthcare but with my mortgage company increasing my mortgage payment I can see why people loss their home for financial burden. Not much is left over for the home renovations but I make do.

    It's fortunate that the house looks pretty much intact unlike some of the other Swedish farm "fixer-uppers" I've seen. I can't imagine how one can afford to keep an apartment and a house (although I imagine you are renting out your apartment). Brave lady.

      @@antirrhinum130 I agree 100%. If the state of the house would’ve been too bad I couldn’t have taken this on as a project as it’d have ended up too expensive! So this has the exact right amount of work needed for me and my “skills” 😅
      And yes I agree, that’s why the plan is not to do this situation with two places for much longer :)

    I did what you are doing at the age of 64. I now have a 120 year old house in Texas, USA. I did it all myself and it is a challenge. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. You will make it and look back on this time and be thankful you did it!!

      @@sophiefalke Doing fine but more dreamer and you seems to be a more doer, we Swedes are so urbanised these days that we foeget most of the old torps or small cottages in the country, its sad, but wonderful with people like you and many others who are trying to live in the country side.

    Sorry but I don't see the difference between the decor now and over a month ago, even the empty bookcase in the living room is still empty and in the exact same spot. If you want a place not to feel "cold" & you want a house to feel like a home, then make it your own. This is my advice to you, less talking and more doing.

    Hey Sophie, amazing video! ☺
    Glad I am not the only one that experienced similar struggles - especially when it comes to retaining a rental flat + a house. 😅
    I am currently in the midst of getting my whole water pipes and bathroom renovated because Winter wasn't kind to my house - so happy it didn't happen to you! 🙏

      @sophiefalke  Месяц назад +1

      @@nordlicht.stories haha yeah retaining both is definitely not the ideal situation - I am glad I am not alone in this!
      Aw no so sorry to hear that your pipes didn’t make it through winter 😅 must be quite the project now to get it fixed - hope it’s not too much damage 🙈
