I am 27 years old. I have been a long-time sufferer of anxiety and depression. I grew up on Madeline, and remember renting episodes of the cartoon from Blockbuster. I owned this movie on VHS (and probably still have it somewhere). I never knew that, years later this song would come back and hit me so hard, and that it would resonate with me so deeply in terms of my struggles with mental illness. I know this might sound kind of silly to some people out there, but I find myself singing this to myself sometimes when I am alone. On some level, maybe I'm hoping that it will give me the courage I need to survive and persevere.
I remember crying at this song as a kid, mostly because it was just so beautiful and uplifting. Now I'm crying for those reasons as well as for nostalgia. I swear I watched this movie so much and I never stopped loving it!
Funny how I hadn't watched this move in YEARS yet it feels like it was just yesterday when I was in my pj's, sitting on my bed while eating popcorn and singing along to the songs.

I feel you I used to relate to Madeline a lot when I was little. As someone with autism I really found it exciting to be rebellious and drumming my own beat.

That was very brave of Madeline to defend her very ill friend Fifi although she got thrown into the dungeon as a result.
