Great video, thanks for making it. I think the best analogy for RID is the GPS ankle-bracelet that people on home-detention have to wear. Fortunately, only those who are accused of a serious crime or convicted and detained at a fixed residence have to wear these bracelets. So what we have with RID is the assumption of guilt -- the presumption that we are all going to do something evil, nefarious and illegal -- therefore we must be tracked. The basic tenet of justice is the right to be presumed innocent. RID violates that basic tenet -- in the same way that making *everyone* in our free society wear a GPS ankle bracelet on the assumption that they are going to commit a crime.
Bruce is right, it's like an ankle monitor for law abiding citizens! Nah, I'm good. But now I regret falling for the $5 drone registration. Won't be renewing that either.
Bruce my 11 year old wants to meet you. Proverbs 23:9. ‘don’t waste your wisdom on fools for they will despise the wisest advice. Im definitely not a freaking bot. Bots don’t know scripture. Peace Mr. Bruce.
Thats not true. You can be private and not want anything to do with the government period. Doesnt mean that you are a bad person its a drone not a gun. A drone isnt going to shoot some one. Freestyle pilots are harmless racers are harmless. Its crazy that so many people agree with the government god they are not your friends they are our enemy. The poison your food, mandate shots i mean come on this sets pilots up for complete failure. Fpv pilots should not have period. We dont need it no thank you.
if a government introduces a compulsory action on its citizens that results in the citizens being forced to pay money or relinquish personal rights, that action should be thoroughly investigated for any links to corruption or benefit to anyone other than its citizens.
This whole thing is being done because they are setting up shop and want to own the air space so the little guys cant make money doing it, they are holding us back so they can get a jump on the market and stay ahead of us like greedy assholes. not holding me back is all im saying..
Fortunately I live in the middle of nowhere, the police don’t show up during ACTIVE burglaries and release car thieves caught in the act. If they even answer the phone, no one is showing up when Karen calls.
My concern is that it shows the operators location to anyone with the app. This is absurd. I am considering serving my FSDO legal papers stating they will be held liable should I be injured by someone locating me via the app. The ONLY ones with access to this should be the FAA and MAYBE law enforcement.
I am a proud Founder contributor of FPV freedom coalition and Beacon thick slab 🎉. Hope your recommendation helps. but I think FAA or other federal organizations will install an automatic operator and will keep us in an infinite loop to report. hope works and we can have our hobby back.
Fantastic video brother. Making it cost the FAA money and time is exactly the best way to get this thing modified. It's great to see your channel really flourishing.
Great video bro, yeah we need to stand together for sure, don’t loose energy by fighting each other, put your energy in to our community and fight for the community so we can all keep flying. Stay safe everyone
Thank you man!! Absolutely, we can't be fighting each other while we figure this thing out or else we all lose the ability to focus on what is in front of us and how we deal with it.
I just hope no one comes looking for me and finds me when i have my goggles on and totally blind and if I take them off I can’t see where I’m flying and result in a crash

I completely agree with the points about the categories which need to be regulated. Also reporting everything to the FAA to give them more work is genius. Hopefully they give up on these ridiculous regulations.
Glad to hear and see your video brother! Mine drops Monday and your absolutely right we need to stick together and definitely now more than ever! The FAA will be counting on our own community to turn in each other so let's not give them ammunition unless it's something extremely dangerous or that needs reporting! Great idea about calling the FAA. Do you have a number in mind that would be best for us to call so that we can be the most efficient with these aggravating calls?
I watched this and boy I'm glad I did as a weekend warrior flyer I just want to flip and roll without a Karen getting jealous or being arrogant and make cool videos doin it.ya know like the old days! When it was fun, keep those props spinning my fellow pilots!🤙
As a hobby pilot, I will not comply. Besides unconstitutional, the government can not mandate a piece of equipment for an already functioning vehicle if it was built without it.
The best thing I've heard so far is RID is Pokémon Go for Karen's, the possibility for abuse is astounding! Thank you for adding you voice to this cause. Make that call is a great idea.
Remember, the first person to call the police, wins. Your 'spotter' is best employed, watching for the approach of a "Karen" and getting straight on the 'phone to report harrassment.
What you’re describing is called “Malicious Compliance”, this definitely works in some cases, if it will works in this one is another matter. You are a 100% right on the infighting too, this did a lot of damage when it came to UK regulations, the fixed wing lot stuck their thumbs in the air and refused to help, saying they were not drones but model aeroplanes so would not be subject to the incoming regulations, we’ll more fool them because when the regulations came in, they applied to them as much as it did everybody else. The irony is now, 5 years down the line, those same (mostly) fixed wing organisations are the ones now begging the drone and FPV organisations for help as their membership die off and don’t get replaced by the younger generations as much as they did previously.
Serves them right! My MAC threw me (and several other members in good standing) under the bus during c o v i d for non-compliance with the 'mandates'. As far as I'm concerned, the official organisations representing the interests of modellers, don't. Modellers need to stick together, but that doesn't mean supporting peak bodies that represent the interests of government before those of their members.
Howdy. Just throwing this out there. I'll try to look the regulation up on it. If you feel in danger from using it. You legally don't have to turn it on. That's from the regulations. Anything that in dangers the safety of the flight is to be avoided.
I paid for a rec license. This wasn't a thing when I obtained it, I'm going by the regulations that applied to me then. I'd rather send it and walk away from the hobby.
Dude!!! This video is extremely well put together. Thanks for sharing! I agree, no matter the choice the FPV pilot does….we should come together. 🙌 Great idea with overwhelming the FAA too!
Here in europe all drones must be registered but don't know anything about app giving away position or private data. Scary authoritative system that of the US. Thanks for the videos
What will do the most to prevent aircraft crashes and the actual risks to the lives of aviators and even those on the ground? Just like the person who taught me to fly models, Fly 3 mistakes high. Altitude provides time for clearer evaluation of a situation, time for correction if possible, and time to act so as to live. FAA, you know the statistics! First, act now to modify training, beginning in initial ground and flight certifications according to accident statistics. Second, Increase in altitude the navigable airspace to 1000-1500 feet so as to give crew time to decide what to do next, to glide, to survive! And with that, give us back our airspace which is our living space and our playing space...yeah even playing with and teaching the next generation about the safer and diverse fields of aviation. Even if it is by using these extremely safe if not pesky model aircraft. Remote ID will not provide all these benefits. Current and future Aviation professionals will!
Well... Bank robberies don't use their wife's car, with her license plate. The car is probably robbed and belongs to another person. So... Anyone wanting to do bad stuff stuff with a drone... Well, let's say they won't follow the rules. So... It's just stupid. No one were ever killed by a drone or rc airplane... I know about zero cases of damage or anything. It makes no sense at all... It's true, I'm not even from the US, but I wouldn't follow this. Let this legislation die. In piece. Anyway, thanks, dude! 😊 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
It is absolutely an over regulation given the body of evidence to support it...which means there are absolutely also motivations outside of data which I doubt we will ever be fully aware of. Whatever those motivations are, we as a community can't change them unfortunately...but, as long as we stick together and look forward at how we are going to handle this we have a chance!
um, that wasnt what happened in the video....they did see it on the app, and they still called it in, then they called the fbi which had a backrecord of all the drone operators flights, and then they fined him for not having a waiver to fly over people. They're depriving those of us that bought prebuilt bnf fpv drones that can't solder of our ability to fly in essence stealing our drones from us and preventing the safe use of our private property which should be illegal...that's what should be prosecuted. The court case also didn't rule against the law, it only said there were no issues with which to set precedent because they tried to sue based on constitutionality which was completely wrong imo. Bardwell just put out a video against this way of thinking about trying to specify the type of drone that has tracking he called it, "throwing the camera drone people under the bus". lol
Really good thoughts! I really appreciate your emphasis on unity within the community and 100% agree! We cannot be throwing the "other guys" under the bus in hope of getting a better deal for ourselves. We need to stick together. I also like your suggestion of "malicious compliance" 😂 The FAA made this mess and they'll need to deal with it one way or another.
The only issue there is that you most likely won't ever know if the module fails while in flight since you won't get any feedback in goggles or audio tones from the RID module on board. The best we are going to have is seeing that it is off for some reason after we land or in some kind of status code with lights blinking that we didn't see during take off. Since the majority of them will be self powered carrying their own battery as to be able to swap them between quads, there won't be any real integration with the data they are outputting and our flight controllers. I suppose we could open the app ourselves and leave it running while we fly and have our spotters keep an eye on it for any funny business, but that is a hard one to shake out in the real world.
I haven't seen anything as of yet, but I am sure there are others who have more information on that and are in much tighter circles with the regulation. I would say there are some precedents for some steep fines given some other FAA actions I have seen taken, but where it will land officially I am not sure.
Love RDQ, thank you. …..shall not comply. This infringes upon my right to privacy and puts my safety and security at risk as a hobbyist. I shall not comply. Come and take it
My current plan is to keep it under 250g until we see how they're actually going to handle things. Right now it's vague, the scenarios they propose in their weird example video are nonsensical to the point I thought it was a parody for a while, and there's so many unknowns that I can't see this as being anything other than a regulatory dumpster fire for the first 6 months. Though, thanks to their bizarre messaging, I'll happily call to report everyone that tries to distract me from safely piloting because they've been taught I'm not "legitimate" if I don't show up on the karen app.
Thank you so much for this Bacon! We really need this hobby around for the sake of American future technologies! I hope the FAA regulates this loosely and leaves us FPV Hobbiests alone! Only go after that idiot who wants to fly their drone over a professional game stadium or somewhere alone those lines!
Excellent video, I like your well rounded take on things and ideas. I think a simple google form to document negative encounters while flying might be a good way to collect data to push our concerns, I’m gonna suggest something like that to the FPVFC. Still waiting on a sit down with my local representatives, but I do potentially have something in the works. Just because the actions we have taken have not had the desired result doesn’t mean that we should give up trying.
when stupid people do stupid things with drones, it costs us all. but it gets re-goddamned-diculous for the size most of us fly, and for Sub250 to also include an RID module that could be 25-40% of the weight. that and whoops with RID?
An unregistered RID module would be very handy. I can already think of several uses for it that will keep the FAA very busy. 😅 This scheme is purpose built for a protest group to shut down an airport. After it happens a few times the entire idea will be discredited.
let us take the high road Gents, were not going to stop flying. Our models are still the safest aircraft in aviation. Aviation safety has to improve. We can always improve as well. But we all know that our hobby isn't what is wrong with the aviation industry. Maybe it is ironic, but in many ways I feel model aviation, Stem, Clubs, innovators, pilots, our kids will be the innovators, the ones who will deny capital investors who eat up funding, make it disappear, leaving administrators to point fingers at each other as well as conjuring up scapegoats and diversions ending in an increasingly dangerous transportation systems which we know takes innocent lives. And we all probably know or are related to someone who has or will be affected.
Great video and great message. Always support you and it's opinions you are spreading like this that confirms that decision to support you. Personally, I'm just gonna post old footage from before the date RID is required 😉 I think constantly reporting them and being involved is important. Posting videos on the subject trying to get them to go viral is important too. Literally everything we are doing we need to keep doing it. Most important thing in this video though. Stop fighting with each other.
Ask yourself; "why now"? And ask if this is a test bed for remote id use elsewhere. The gov has been wanting that for a long time. Ask if this is really about safety, (because gov loves to use that excuse for most everything),. Safety for who? Who's getting hurt? Many of us who grew up flying model rc plans back in the 70's find much of this either strange or gov overreach. That maybe,...someone doesn't want the public having this ability going into the future. They want the ability to switch it off when the time comes. I do know - drone delivery and e short-range air transport from major city hubs is getting close. Could be it be that lobbyists made this happen? Amazon? Others? Those who want the rights to most all airspace around urban areas up to a few hundred feet - to be their domain in the future? Why now? Just pondering.
Don't you think that if we keep calling the FAA about how we're getting hassled as you suggest, that the simplest reason for them will be to just restrict our drone flying even more - fewer pilots means fewer calls to them...
I was recently considering getting my Part 107 cert, but I was wondering: If I get my 107 and even though I fly recreationally and would like to occasionally upload a video to RUclips, would I then be required to put a RID module on all of my sub-250g models, and also have each one individually registered at all times? Regardless of my flying situation?
You could absolutely fly under the recreational rules even if you do have a part 107, it is just going to depend on the intent of the flight or how that intent is viewed by others. I think if you are planning on just using the footage as a YT upload to share with friends/family and not mention any brands, monetize the channel, or have that content lead to any net gain for yourself or another organization, you could keep it in the recreational rules for sure.
Great video, thanks for making it. I think the best analogy for RID is the GPS ankle-bracelet that people on home-detention have to wear. Fortunately, only those who are accused of a serious crime or convicted and detained at a fixed residence have to wear these bracelets. Still waiting on a sit down with my local representatives, but I do potentially have something in the works.
Just because the actions we have taken have not had the desired result doesn’t mean that we should give up trying.
+1👍well thought; well put 💪
Fight for no remote ID on hobby aircraft under 1 kg.
But you didn’t pin 📍 the number for faa in comments
when stupid people do stupid things with drones, it costs us all. but it gets re-goddamned-diculous for the size most of us fly, and for Sub250 to also include an RID module that could be 25-40% of the weight. that and whoops with RID?
An unregistered RID module would be very handy. I can already think of several uses for it that will keep the FAA very busy. 😅
This scheme is purpose built for a protest group to shut down an airport. After it happens a few times the entire idea will be discredited.
Especially if that module was GPS spoofed to report a false location so that no airspace was physically compromised. We’er all about safety after all.
let us take the high road Gents, were not going to stop flying.
Why does the general public have to have access to this informatio? It should be kept to law enforcement only.
Absolutely insane shit going on in the states man
Great video and great message. Always support you and it's opinions you are spreading like this that confirms that decision to support you.
Personally, I'm just gonna post old footage from before the date RID is required 😉
I think constantly reporting them and being involved is important. Posting videos on the subject trying to get them to go viral is important too. Literally everything we are doing we need to keep doing it.
Most important thing in this video though. Stop fighting with each other.
Keep on finding those SD cards in the parking lot which "happen" to have some pretty awesome drone footage on them!! Always appreciate you bro!
@@BaconNinjaFPV Thanks Bacon!
Dump rules.
It's us against them, not you against me

Call them every time I fly my Avata... "Oh no my USB came out mid flight again"
