The reason I like to homeschool year round is for the routine. It's so hard to get out of the school routine for my kids and then difficult to get back into it. Rather than having a summer break, we use the sabbath schedule and then have light weeks at certain parts of the summer when their public school friends are most available.

@@Sandyyyyyyyyyy I feel you on the breaking from routine. You’re right that it is so hard to get back into.

We're pretty similar I guess. I don't make my own curriculum, not because I can't, but because I don't have time.

@@wvfarmersdaughter that is definitely an issue also. It would take me soooo long to figure it all out.

Our schools sound very similar. I'm not ashamed to say I'm too scatterbrained to make my own curriculum, and then I feel like we aren't missing anything. We don't do "morning time," we just start with devotions and then pull everything out onto the kitchen table. My kids are so close in age (7&9), we do everything but math and language arts together anyways, so it all feels like bonding time. We didn't school year round, but we did go a week into June to finish my son's math. I have a rough schedule, but more like a daily checklist, that sometimes takes 2 hours and sometimes 5 depending on how agreeable everyone is feeling that day. Honestly overall it's been easier to handle this way, and I like the setup. Your style matches mine more than most of the HS moms I've watched.

@@Endolei we do sound so similar! And I’m just trying to keep it real over here. 🤣🤣 Thank you so much!! 😊

I have 7 kids who all wake up at different times. My early riser gets started with school right after breakfast, he would not like stopping for morning time.
I have no desire to make my own curriculum. I don’t think I would do it well.
We homeschool at the table and on the sofa. We’ve never had a dedicated school room.
We’ve done year round and had summers. Both have had advantages.

@@Grace_Filled_Homeschool oh I bet trying to get 7 kids all on board in the morning would be a task! I have to agree with you now that I’ve read your comment… not only do I not feel capable of making my own curriculum, but I really have no desire to either. Same mama, same. 🤣

@@Making_Homeschool_Happen yes! Two high schoolers , 2 middle schoolers, 2 early elementary ages and a 2 year old make our mornings a bit too difficult to accommodate gathering together. I read aloud to my younger kids in the morning and my older kids after dinner.

What are some things you do or don’t do to make your homeschool work better for you?

I tried to do a morning time type of thing but it doesn't work for us either 😕

@@sadie6586 no worries! It’s just not your thing and it isn’t ours either. I used to think that we would be reaching some better homeschool level or something if I had morning time or a morning basket. But now I know it’s just not part of our groove and that’s fine! 😊
