I haven't really been the receiving end in person anyway but there's definitely also cliques within the homeschooling community and with my chronic pain in my leg and feet, it's hard to go to every event or have my kid socialize. My son is special needs and very shy so he doesn't do well in a big group setting and find that the kids don't play with him much. That's the hardest part of homeschooling for me. I can so relate to those comments online though! I'll ask for advise and they'll sway you into sticking with the curriculum or get hate bc you want to try something else lol especially with math! It's so hard to find something that will work for both of us. I also want to say that alot of homeschoolers bash on parents who send the kids to public school and vice versa. Now i live in the state where the education is scored on the bottom compared to any other state and i haven't had a great experiences with public schools and private is too expensive but we should definitely have grace to other moms who send the kids to public school 🏫 😅 sorry for this long comment 😂😅

I'd suggest you give your daughter the 5th grade tests or review lessons for each chapter right now to see where she truly is. Elementary math is extremely boring for advanced kids, so that is why many of them skip into middle school math early. Your daughter might surprise you with her current level of understanding. I, too, am working on better planning. Using different curriculum for subjects, so looked through each book for how many lessons and days. Some are for 25 weeks and 4 days a week, some 30 weeks and 5 days a week. Some subjects I am looping, or rotating, each week. Such as financial literacy 1 week, next week character building. Sometimes there is so much you want to cover, but not everything has to be daily or each week. You are not alone in the struggle. We want so much for our kids. So just to gain more perspective from us that don’t use textbooks here…. History is broken into four cycles or 6 when you’re using literature based learning. For example with a gentle feast we are doing early america only and adding in British history (our island story) and child’s history of the world. So we are doing Middle Ages with early American… because Charlotte Mason did multiple streams of history for form 2. So it really comes down to your own philosophy and what you desire to teach your children. I have notgrass star spangled banner and better believe I’m just picking stories that pertain to early America to add in because I want a few biblical perspective stories. So you most definitely can make it your own. 😊 You can look at that book as time period and break it up. That’s why some probably just do the first book one year and the second another year because they are looking at it as a spine. So you can break it up and focus on living books that go with it and do other things. Our island story and child’s history of the world take more than one year to read. Look at it as a spine and you go from there. Textbooks cover all of it quickly rather than chewing slowly. Do you want an overview and keep salting that overview or slow down and simmer those different time periods. ❤

@@Making_Homeschool_Happen when I first learned about Charlotte Mason and neo classical way of doing history it really blew me away. I was so used to public school textbooks where it covered the whole year every year and just either built on stories or added new ones in. But you can use a whole book as your “spine” and break it up to focus deeply on one time period or section. Charlotte mason was an advocate of using many books and didn’t necessarily use the whole book. Like for child’s history of the world we begin at ch 47 with it because that’s where the Middle Ages begin. Or let’s say you spread out the first half of your book to a year, you can fill in with picture books, chapter books or assigned readers to beef up the experience. Not sure if you’re familiar with any of the literature companies so a few would be sonlight (they originally made theirs for missionary families so lots of missionary stories are added in), beautiful feet books, Ambleside online and a gentle feast. There’s more haha but don’t want to overwhelm you. Simply Charlotte mason has the best video explanations on everything. Might give you a good idea to visually see or even take from their booklists. Anyway no two curriculums are the same. So it really is up to what you and your student what you desire.
