So sad we dont get a good hdr expierience in a sci-fi game with all the stars, suns, lasers and so on. Not to mention the "pitch black" sea. Bethesda really missed a chance to shine here.
The elevated black levels are really annoying. Overall, I think it's a very good update. The 40 FPS mode runs really well, with some dips in New Atlantis
The raised blacks and slightly flat presentation is obviously an art choice. Especially because the title screen uses real blacks. Sdr is pretty much the same minus the highlights. Can't say I love it but it does seem to be implemented properly.
Bummer they didn't improve it. Sadly most devs don't make any effort to improve HDR after release. Keep up the good work, my dude. Hopefully you'll revisit Elden Ring once the DLC is out.
@@XDLugia I don’t think BGS think the HDR is a problem. It’s their “artistic choice” for the washed out black levels. It looks terrible but it’s what they want. I play on PC and fix it with Reshade
@@teddyholiday8038 The lack of surface maps was also an artistic choice, but they changed that recently. I'm not holding my breath, but I know there is a chance for improvement.

@BewareofGR I think everything is loaded at the same time though. I think they said that is part of the reason of so many loading screens is because of that. It's why you can leave like a sandwich on the floor and it'll stay there forever.
I've been using the Nvidia rtx hdr along with some Reshade settings, and to me it looks quite a bit better than the game's regular hdr. Just annoying to use on my setup, because I have to disable all my other screens for rtx to work.

Finally started playing this again. While not perfect, it’s much much better than launch. I just adjust the black level in the LG settings, it looks good enough
auto hdr outputs what you set in windows calibration app. Also sometimes windows doesn't care what you set in windows calibration app and it defaults to 1499nits even if it shows what you set in advance display settings . its a bug of windows to fix that just change refresh rate and revert it back to what it was.
To clarify for people: the shader injector was broken by the May 15th update, which Luma relies on. So Luma has also not been updated, so to use it you have to use an older version for the time being. This game looks so washed out without Luma, so I am still on the older version with no maps.

@RealTroyE23 the game engine is outdated the scale has nothing to do with it. Each loaded area is incredibly small.

could you compare rtx hdr and native hdr and tell us which one is better? thx for your amazing vids as always
it looks amazing with RTX HDR and i recommend installing the ( Neutral LUTs - No Color Filters ) Mod before using RTX HDR to make it look better
There is no native HDR. It's AutoHDR.
