@@gurenduben2031 It was a South African accent which to the North American english speakers ear sounds very similar to an Australian accent.
As a Brit, I would say he learned his "American" accent from watching Dick Van Dyke trying (stunningly but hilariously unsuccessfully) to do a cockney accent in "Mary Poppins"!
I would have started busting out some Afrikaans the minute I heard him mumble in that horrible drawl.

I'm from Illinois and like many states, I love how the tourism images are like not representative of 99% of the state. Like here's Illinois: Chicago > suburbs > corn and soybean fields as far as the eye can see. Any tourism photos will be the magnificent mile in Chicago and like Galena.

Someone tried this with my dad. Asked for a subscription fee to invest in gold. He looked up the company’s website and called THAT number. The British guy said they never charge subscription fees and don’t have an office in South Africa.
