@@brentfarvors192 We’re not a bank. It costs the amount of the check plus $25 in a return fee. So if you bring in one of these checks for $1,000 and it returns, it would be $1,025, which we would never be able to collect on. Terrible for the victims, and the institution. Which is why we’re trained to spot these scams a mile away.
@@KHTimeProtecter why does it take so long for a cheque to clear in the US? Where I live, it takes half a day. If I deposit a cheque before 12pm, my bank will phone me if there's a problem with the cheque before 5pm. Yes, they make a phone call for every cheque, because usually, most cheques clear with no problem. I don't get charged. Issuer gets dinged $25 if it bounce for insufficient funds. Its a smaller country, but cheque images are sent electronically, so distance does not cause delays.
@@danielch6662 If your country is small enough that it only has a few banks, then that’s probably why the checks clear so quickly. We have a large number of different banks and credit unions, but LOTS of customers and money coming and going between these institutions. And that’s not taking account of some banks coming from different states with different banking jurisdictions. We also have to keep in mind how much the check actually is, i.e. if the check is $200 then it should clear quickly if there aren’t any problems. A check over $1,000 may take longer (On the rare occasion, I handle checks well into the mid-to-high five digit range, and even six-digit). Because of this, coupled with not-so-fast programs and internet, it takes a while to process and clear the checks. There’s a phase about banks being “too big to fail”, but that also means that they’re slow as molasses.

Yeah, it's a good laugh. But it's disheartening when you realize this is just the tip of a very deep, disgusting iceberg. For every crook foiled like this, there are 1000 more who are successful. (That's why this kind of thing keeps on going and going.) And even if they're "caught", since they often live outside U.S. jurisdiction, nothing can or will be done about them by law enforcement. They'll just keep going until they find a desperate, gullible sucker. So frustrating...
Imagine the fun in the Kaiser Permanente mail room when the clerk looks up "Mike Rotch" to see what department to route the mail to. When he/she can't find them, they'll ask their boss, "Do you know Mike Rotch?, I'm looking for Mike Rotch", and then it gets awkward from there.

The moment they wrote "routine" instead of "routing" number, I knew. I work for my state's unemployment office by doing online chat and they will often misspell it that way. We've developed a few tricks to help suss out these bastards as they'll try to hide themselves with a VPN, but without even needing to be told by our supervisors, we've gotten to work listing ways they stick out. Usually they want to update the payment method to a different bank account to launder the money. As of today, all payment method changes must have a photo ID submitted. That was music to my ears! We're also mandating claimants refile a new claim every three months so as to throw them off from receiving money from an account that may have passed under the radar. We can catch it the next time they file. Screw these scammers. 😈

I love how creative you’re getting and how you don’t give up when you hit a speed bump with these scammers! You’re videos are so entertaining to watch!
Best 14 minutes I ever spent since the last Tuesday. My brother passed due COVID-19. I was no able to laugh since this tragedy but your video made me laugh after all BS me and my family went through. Thanks a lot, man!
I work at a financial institution. I cannot tell you how many times my customers come in with checks from these scammers an not even realize it.
You mean the victims
How much does the bank charge for a returned check fee...?
“With the name and adress of the FBI special agent in charge” I started fucking rolling😭😭😭

Very well done and keep up the good work. I despise scammers and anyone making money off the hard work of others. Coming from a working class family, that owns their own business, I know personally how devastating these scammers can be.
I just love this guy! He is always catching these crooks and exposing them.
We need more guys like this to expose these scams and alert people who may fall for them.
Oh my shock, the source was from Nigeria, same as they catfish scams on dr Phil
@@paulfuray8557 There's lots of them, like scam baiter, scammer payback.

Not really. Anyone watching this video odds are have either seen other videos from Pleasant, are aren’t dumb enough to fall for these scams anyways. It’s just entertaining, it doesn’t actually save anyone from getting scammed. Someone dumb enough to fall for these scams isn’t on RUclips watching Pleasants videos, they are watching squirrels fight over a peanut, or a screaming goat or something.

This guy is fun, trying to catch scammers while advertising a scam product which won't prevent any hair loss. 😂

Minoxidil actually works though. Plenty of guys use it and a lot of empirical research to back it up.

Thanks for putting this out there, I almost got scammed while trying to sell my fifth wheel trailer.
I wanted $18000 he sent me a cheque for $24500. I texted why so much. He replied that was to pay the trucker and he is picking up other things on the way back. If I would have followed through I would have been out $18000 for the trailer plus $6500 to the driver. I also got a second one similar but not as much money. I took the cheque to the bank.
The manager checked it out and it was phoney. In fact she read back the letters at the top left and said their credit union gets about eight of those a week. The police department said just rip it up we can’t help you. Thanks a lot coppers.
Thanks again Pleasant Green you saved me!
Sending it to an FBI agent was the funniest thing ive ever seen lmao
