I have the same model but without the serial connection since about 2 years or so. I put it into my own case together with a mains switching power supply and a fan. Works just fine since day one.
Dustin Watts After I got mine they announced the upgraded model with serial (I believe there was an usb and a WiFi Version available or was it Bluetooth?) Anyway I was about to buy it but never did. Until now I had no need for this connection and I’m glad I did not spend the money for the version with serial.
I have a power supply I made from one of these units (lower power model) and it's perfect for my hobby needs. Definitely a cheap alternative if you're prepared to build your own supply.
Hello, I have this DPS5005 with this case. I just need to connect the power supply. What type of power supply should I connect for it to work correctly?
I use a Meanwell power supply that supplies enough Voltage and Amperage my unit. For the DPS5005 in your case. the first 50 means the Voltage and the second 05 means the current. To get the max out of your unit, the voltage (which is usually adjustable) should be 55VDC (this was said as the max in the datasheet). The output current is 5 Ampere, so your power supply should be able to supply 5A. So look for power supplies that supplies 50V and 5A. And... BE CAREFUL with AC mains voltage.
Hmmm 🤔 Both Dave Jones and Dustin Watts releasing videos on PSUs from the same company, it’s likely coincidence, but damn talk about suspicious timing 😆
4:27 - Hmmm... that plastic peel back felt really satisfying. Thank you! (The remainder of this video is pretty nice too...)
Thank you Marcel! I wish they would sell some kind of apparatus that only does that... all day long!
thank you for making this video, good work
Rd Tech Thank you for making a great product! Next for me is the RD6006 ;)
@@DustinWatts thank you :-) we will keep developing our products

To be honest, I have used the serial connection once. And that was just or testing if I could get the communication working :)

Hi Gartmorn! Yeah I also really like it. I’m glad I decided to buy it. It’s sufficient for all my projects.

And both names start with the letter "D"! Illuminati confirmed! :)
Dustin I never thought of that, illuminati is indeed confirmed 😳😆
