Can't wait for the first ride impressions! I'm waiting on my Izzo Pro to get here next month, I have to live my Izzo life through RUclips videos right now.
It’s worth the wait! I’ve had my IZZO launch since the first week of June(ordered the first day they were released) it’s a do everything trail rocket, PR’s on every ride and I’ve been riding a long time. Good luck with your new IZZO Hardcastle!
@@pathayes9982 Can't wait, shipping date is supposed to be 8/12 so I'm at the home stretch now. I'm still looking forward to any and all RUclips videos to keep me satisfied while I sit here watching the days tick by!
Its golden hour for downcountry at the mo with this, the spur and the sb115 all arriving. All the bike most people need. My lust is mostly pointed at the spur - saw one in the flesh other day, lush (not too light though...)
100% agree, really exciting time for these bikes which are absolutely what I want and need from a mountain bike. That Spur does look the business. Tough decisions with so much good choice
One ride yesterday and so far it's definitely fast, not quite in the same league as a XC bike but not far behind it at all. Climbing performance is superb especially when you firm up the rear shock, though even in open it's composed. It's a hoot on the descents :)
Pretty much set on an Ibis Ripley but now with the new Yeti sb115 and this YT Izzo I'm scratching me head again. Looking forward to the review of this one David
@David Arthur - just ride bikes Having trouble, please help: Jeffsy or Izzo? The geo, price, and specs are very similar. However for the 20% of the time that I’d like to get the bike worked out more, I’m afraid the 130 mm would hold back Please let me know your thoughts!
(More for your reader’s sake, someone will benefit from this) Jeffsy 29” has 150mm travel which may take too much away from the trail, additionally the shock takes up bottle space, and bike is slightly heavier. I’ve decided to purchase the Izzo, extend the fork travel from 130mm to 140mm, and compensate the 0.5* slacked HTA/STA by keeping the flip chip in the high setting. This way can keep this nice looking frame, shorter CS, vertical shock configuration, remote lockout, and lighter weight.
Stunning bike .. really is. I was about to pull the trigger on this one till I came across negative reviews on the after sales team/customer service. most negative comments were about the slow responsiveness and very long waiting time to get parts replaced... how has been your experience dealing with this brand so far ?
Hi Dave great video, look forward to your next video on the izzo. My next mtb is the izzo or the canyon lux cf they are both about the same money so which one do you prefer Dave? Thanks
For me the Izzo is a more suitable bike, better geometry for descending and having fun which is why I ride these days. The Lux is the much faster choice ideal for XC and marathon racing
@@davidarthur I was a little surprised the other way. I was hoping for a little less. My XL Pro Race Izzo came in at slightly under 28 lbs out of the box (with tubes and the stock Forekasters). Given how nice the kit is on it, I was hoping for a lb less. Still light I suppose.
@@davidarthur Yours was Large so that and different scales might be the difference. It would be interesting to see bare frame weights. I bet closer to 7 than 6 on a L with maybe 250 grams extra for XL? It's just interesting to see. Something like a Ripley with slightly less travel is supposed to be 6.2 and elite level builds are coming in at 26 and change (for thousands more...)
Is it twist to unlock the shock or twist to lock? seen a few reports that the grip tension fails which releases the cable locking the shock?? would like to know your thoughts once you have had a chance to blast it. Mines on order, just waiting for delivery.
It's press to lock and twist to open the shock. Dropping my first ride video tomorrow so check it out if you want to know my first ride thoughts on it :)
I switched to a Wahoo Bolt a year ago and won't be switching back anytime soon. It just works with no issues at all. I like that after years of bugs with various Garmin computers
@@davidarthur hi David,, I ride in several groups but my main one has six regulars. Between us we have about 20 bikes, mostly full suspension, six of which are relatively recent YT''s (within two years). One of my friends has a Jeffery same model as mine the frame has split in a circle around one of the bearings, he is quite lightly built and he uses the YT for singletrack, nothing crazy or high impact. He sent it off for a warranty repair they have sat on it for months, he has spent over 5 hours in calls trying to resolve it, he is constantly fobbed off and has lost an entire summers use. I am not a frame expert but he looks after his bikes properly, he is a light weight rider using the bike as intended this type of break would imply the material around the bearing cup was too thin the wear on the rest of the bike minimal. The whole experience has been very badly handled and from posts seems to be endemic at YT Europe, my understanding in the US it is totally different, I guess they don't value UK business. All five of us have followed his trouble with YT and all decided we will not buy another one. Real shame but learn from our experience..
It’s not gripshift, it has the standard trigger shifter for your 1x12 on the right side of the handlebar. The left grip has a remote lockout „lever“ for your rear shock in the style of a gripshift. You can easily use traditional grips and then use the lever on the shock itself if your into uphill pedaling with a lockout platform.

12kg not light? You're hard to please ;)
That's a fantastic looking bike! I don't normally like mountain bikes, but this is gorgeous! Will look forward to your (off-)road test.
cracking bike! looking forward to your ride review. i've heard that like the spur, the izzo can give an xc bike a run for its money.

I know right, some really good choices at the moment. Have a Yeti SB115 on the way too...
I was pretty much sold on an Ibis Ripley until I saw this, value wise I think this is superb. I pulled the trigger this week on a pro race.
It comes with a bottle and cage! Such a cool detail🤗
Such a rare thing these days!
@@davidarthur Is the bottle provided by default with the bike or did you order it apart ?
I would bet it has to be ordered separately.
Sick ass bike so sharp hope they make an alloy version
130 is typically considered mid travel not short travel. And the NP Reactor is the most exciting 130mm bike on the market in 2021.

@@davidarthur And compared to the Neuron?
I’ve not ridden the Neuron, but looking at the geometry Canyon isn’t quite as ‘progressive’ as YT, if that matters to you?
Do you think it looks good Dave? 😁
What stand are you using? Also, it urks me that my 2020 Jeffsy cables arent run as smooth and clamped as that.
I also have the Izzo Pro Race. Have you experienced any failure of the Twist Lock? I hear they fail a lot
Not had any problems with it yet, apart from it being the wrong way round
@@davidarthur haha, agreed!
27 lbs wow !
My road bike in the 80's was well over 30 lbs
Not bad is it. There's a lot of carbon on this model which helps :)

That’s interesting. This was weighed with tubeless out of the box and bottle cage and bottle - maybe I could remove the bottle and weigh it again?

The biking world's answer to Henry Catchpole. 😉
You are too kind sir! I can't even hope to be anywhere near as good as Henry's awesome video reviews yet but something to aim for definitely
I'm in between sizes L and XL, could you me which one I'll get.thx
Hi David, do you any recommendations for bike computers? Deciding between the wahoo bolt and the Garmin 530/830
I switched to a Wahoo Bolt a year ago and won't be switching back anytime soon. It just works with no issues at all. I like that after years of bugs with various Garmin computers
Nice bike YT 👍 but better front shock 150mm travel
If you want a bike with 150 front, just get the Jeffsy!
Anybody know what bike stand that is he is using? Really like it
How tall/inseam length are you? Trying to decide my fit for this bike
I'm 5'11"/180 and the fit is good but it's all about how happy you are with the longer reach on bikes like this
nice looking bike
Its funny hearing 130 as 'short travel'.
It's all relative
@@davidarthur this is size large, how tall are you, and how is the fit?
What bike stand is that??
That is what I am wondering..?
What DT Swiss hubs are these? And are the rotors centerlock or 6-bolt
They are 180 with Ratchet EXP 36 hubs and using centre lock
david arthur thanks for the reply, can’t wait to get my hands on this bike!
The 1 thing that would make it perfect switch from crap sram. To Shimano xtr 👍
Agreed. Hoping they do that next year.
Id pay more for XTR too. Im hoping for update fox suspension and the same wheels, no e13 BS.
How do we change the left grip with the lock?
I've not tried it myself but I've seen someone using a Bontrager DropLoc remote lever. I guess any sort of lever should work really
How tall are you? I'm about to order a Pro, but can't decide on the L or XL.
I'm 5'11" and one ride so far and the sizing feels spot on. I could go longer on the reach but the overall balance of the bike is good
Thanks, I’m 6 foot. The YT tech guy says go L, but some on RUclips says XL. I look forward to your next video.
Surprised it doesn't weight less, my alloy 08 Kona Hei Hei 29er weighs about the same
Pressed BB?
It is yeah
Shame the warranty cover is so awful
You’ve had a bad experience with them personally?

Is it press fit bb? Deal breaker.
I’d rather have a Tallboy
1.7kg more +-, in the same configuration, 10mm less rear travel.
And 3k more in price for the same spec. I own 2 SCs but yeah..
gripshift ruins it. limited choice for upgrades.
