What happens when you add longer travel, burlier suspension and fancier parts to an already fancy, burly long-travel trail bike? You get the YT Jeffsy 29 CF Pro Race.
Good review dudes.. Once you get used to how the bottle relocates, its actually quite good.. Took me a while to work out the best way but it's deffo something I'm pleased with!!
What is both of your heights and inseam? It really hard for readers to gauge what size they should get in an online brand bike if they don't know how the reviewers size data compares to theirs.
I appreciate your clarifying comments at the end. My other RUclips persona did car reviews....I got sick of essentially saying "So automobiles are now pretty much all good, so don't whine about a new car." Oddly, I thought you would have hit a little more on price/value since that is typically one of YT's strongest selling points. Also, why no as tested weight? (especially with those carbon wheels)
I am also curious as to how tall you guys are. My husband is 6' and trying to decide between the L and XL. How do you think a large would have felt for your heights? Do you think it would have felt maybe a little less stable on the downs, but more flickable and "fun"? For us, the climbing ability is definitely more important than the fast downhill ability.
Hey Bikemag You guys make a good bunch of test videos. Like that, but some of your video clips have such a high frequent tinnitus sound and that is a bit annoying. Maybe you could change that. Greetings from Germany :)
I’ve had the exact same YT bottle on my zerode taniwha for a few months as well as fidlock’s 20z bottles on my hardtail and gravel bike and trust me you get used to putting the bottle back! The closest thing I can relate it to is learning how to get back into clipless pedals for your first time. At first you’re not sure where to put your feet or how/when to apply pressure but eventually you can slam your foot in without looking and get it immediately. These bottles are easier than that since the magnets help get it in there, but yeah it took me maybe 5 rides until I started being able to put the bottle back right away but as noted all my bikes have their bottles now.
I have the 27.5 and absolutely love it. It’s my 3rd Jeffsy honestly and love the 27.5 Pro race, favorite bike ever and super confidence inspiring. Great bike.
I guess it will be a little bit less than 2019 29 CF Pro which is 13.9 kg in size L with tubeless Maxxis Agressor/DHF and flast plastic pedals (my bike).
So, the question is: How do you get such a capable bike to be more playful? What makes it capable: • 29” wheels • steep seat angle • short seat tube length • balanced head tube angle; 66/66,5° (& possibility to use angle set to modify 1° if desired) What could be things that make it less playful: • only 150 mm drop • long reach (470 in L, 490 in XL) • “long” 50 mm stem • not 27,5” 😆 • what else?
This is great bike in terms of geo and specs, but the thing that pushing me away from a lot of direct sales bike companies is that they make bikes with freaking press fit BB!!
bitumen83 hear ya man. I have the 2017 Jeff and the press fit is a pain... once you get it sitting sweet you forget it’s there, but I reckon I will be looking for a threaded for my next one!!!
matthew chase Not yet, but I am heavily leaning towards the XL over the XXL. I talked to YT and they think think the XL is the better move. I don’t like my bikes overly huge and I think the XXL would be overly huge.
matthew chase I ended up buying the XXL. The seated position with a 34” inseam is very similar to the old jeffsy in an XL. The reach is way longer, but after riding it for about 20 minutes it started to feel natural. Because the reach is longer, you have to push your weight back more aggressive to get the front end up for a bunny hop. The old jeffsy was so short that getting far back was never an issue. You could probably go with either size but the XL might feel cramped when seated due to the steep seat tube angle. The XXL might feel long when riding down hill depending on your style. It also seems to require more effort to get off the ground due to the long reach.
Cringe at Guide R, precious much?, You both look about my age, come on we rod trails on rigids with Caliper brakes. Or we moved to Dualys with like 3inch travel and flew down firebreaks. I cant help but feel we have all become super soft and ungrateful. The 'trail' bike I ride now after an 18 year gap is FAR more capible downhill then my late 90s downhill bike ever was
I can't help but feel the same sentiments. I am still riding a hardtail with V-brakes and 2.5 inches of front suspension(I realize its finally time for a new bike, hence watching reviews). I heard someone say on a review of the new IZZO that its "short travel at 5 inches"........short travel!?! Its going to be super weird riding something like this, and awesome.
Yt problems: knick knacks. If you ride in places like finale ligure you can hear a yt bike minutes before you reach it on your climb. Every bike! No matter capra or jeffsy. I'm not lying
First class review. In any field.
These tests are getting insanely good. 👏
I have to say this was an amazing review. Absolutely spot on. I’ve ridden this bike and the Capra and all of their descriptions are spot on
lol - I've noticed that - often when speaking in terms of $4k+ bikes - people usually end up deciding based on the water bottle. lol ha ha ha.

Great test. Very Nice bike check👍🏻
Why dont you do also the capra ? Please i want to see it

Great review!
Would love to see you guys do the Fezzari La Sal Peak
Good bike 🤘🚴
Amazing...
Hey Bikemag
You guys make a good bunch of test videos. Like that, but some of your video clips have such a high frequent tinnitus sound and that is a bit annoying. Maybe you could change that.
Greetings from Germany :)
Yeah. No need to make those high frequent noices. It is just annoying and causes video to close.
YT has been foing domething right lately with their price points and overall amazing bikes. I wanba see the Capra reviewed next.
Ok sorry for all the typos but ya get my point
there is one just look at the bible of bikes test

Which wheel size would you say is the better one for me? I mostly ride tours with big climbs, but also ride some trails.
DarkDiamond YT probably a hardtail
I have the 27.5 and absolutely love it. It’s my 3rd Jeffsy honestly and love the 27.5 Pro race, favorite bike ever and super confidence inspiring. Great bike.
Better review style than that bike bible.
Great vid btw!! On the YT website wheelset is not carbon for the Jeffsy 29 CF Pro Race? Does it come with carbon wheelset or no?
Jay B yes it’s carbon, it’s not in the description for it for some reason but it is. I have one.
@@treycox706 Thanks for the info it really helped, especially now that I know it's carbon for sure I will purchase this in a large.
great review. Weight of the bike is missing (Real weight)
I guess it will be a little bit less than 2019 29 CF Pro which is 13.9 kg in size L with tubeless Maxxis Agressor/DHF and flast plastic pedals (my bike).

What could be things that make it less playful:

• “long” 50 mm stem
• not 27,5” 😆
• what else?
Kinda too bad you didn't test the non-race version vs Gen-4 Ripley vs 2019 Canyon
What size frame is that
How does this pedal/descend compared to an Evil Offering?
it doesn't
Nice review, but omitting the ad tested weight in the specs at the start is a major boo boo.
Well i mean this isnt really a trailbike. The new IZZO is the first real trailbike of YT
@d0mm3y1 Suspension Travel and geometry most for all. Trail is up from 100-140mm. Enduro is 140-170mm. DH is from 180mm upwards. Basically.
This is great bike in terms of geo and specs, but the thing that pushing me away from a lot of direct sales bike companies is that they make bikes with freaking press fit BB!!
bitumen83 hear ya man. I have the 2017 Jeff and the press fit is a pain... once you get it sitting sweet you forget it’s there, but I reckon I will be looking for a threaded for my next one!!!
s o what? you can change it easily. Some say that for carbon bike , presfit is actually good solution :)
How much is it?
Go to the YT website - it’s really not that difficult.
please test the decoy. pleeeeeeeeease!
Well, bye then. Dont let the door hit your ass. I'd like to see a review on that bike as well...
there is a nice test here on YT of it, just search
so your opinion between Jefssy Pro Race 2018 and 2019 is ???
How can you call a 150mm bike a "race" bike? What am I missing? Also, did I miss the weight? What's the weight?
Enduro race.
"Race" means you can add more value, kinda like a "tactical bag" just bag cost you $50 but add "tactical" and it's worth $1000
Hey guys, you say you rode an XL. What is your rider height, and did you feel the XL was a good fit? I am just over 6'2" and looking at an XL. Thanks!
did you order one? im also 6' 2" and torn between the xl and xxl.
matthew chase

and what about all the Tues that are doing well in Whistler riding DH tracks?
@@hobmarg i don't know. Never been in whistler and never seen a dh bike peddling.
Martin Prinz weird. I have no such impressions. I’ll try to listen though haha
My Jeffsy is nice and quiet 🤫
29in wheels look absurd
