Classic Game Room reviews YASI for the Vectrex released in 2003, a homebrew game that plays a lot like the classic Space Invaders (in fact, pretty much identical). The package seen here has custom art by the way.
Blast those invaders from space on this sweet Vecrex homebrew game that comes with Protector, a clone of another game where you defend things... yay! CGR Yasi review was recorded from Vectrex at the Intergalactic 70s Space Bar!
The dancing Mark reflection on the YASI menu made my day.
Mark's wet dream: EDF x Truxton on VETREX!
"You need to dim the lights in order to make out.." say no more Mark. I'm already one step ahead of you!
5:26 nice Futurama reference.
pixel graphics on a vectrex? SACRILEGE!
Do an update video once you get the voice adaptor working! :)
So I'm guessing copyright on the Space Invaders graphics ran out? XD
So when can we expect a 32X device for the Vectrex?
+tignesboy YES.
Take a drink everytime he says Vectrex. See you in the E.R.
I just go to the toilet.
"Yet another space invaders" LOL
Space Invaders REMIX
i would like to see a sakura wars review someday.
yay more vectrex reviews THEVECTREXISDABEST
If I had Vectrex I would def get this...or should I say...when I eventually get a Vectrex. Not getting one is not an option
that was awesome. I think vectrex was ahead of it's time when it came out. thanks again for the video.
Ahead of which time? We aren't all using vector displays, are we? Vectrex is beyond all time.
... Huh. So... Replicating scanline graphics on a vector display... Interesting. XD
CGR: Now from the Intergalactic Space Kitchen...
The AtariVox+ works on both Atari VCS/7800 and Vectrex (w/ both VecVoice and VecVox modes), and just needs a joystick extender cable that fits the Vectrex, since it physically won't fit in the space available on the Vectrex.
Want another Space Invaders knockoff? The first level of Pigs in Space on the 2600 is exactly that!
Is it just me or the arcade picture seen in the cartridge has the similar look to Earth Defenders coin-op mini arcade box? o.o
AtariVox+ will work, it just requires that you have a Sega Genesis extension cable with a plug that's shaved down. On the controller you can see how it needs to be shaved so it will fit.
Why would anyone drink beer while playing video games? Have you ever heard of Marijuana?
+lemon slice
I was talking about back then. SMH.
Real cool real cool but where is the Doom 2016 review? Don't make a brother wait for it
I think your the only person in the world who could do an 8 min review for a space invader clone, and that's awesome
holy crap, he is doing a raster on a vectrex!
I haven't even seen the review yet, but I know I'm going to like it because it's on the Vectrex!
What?! That's just Space Invaders!
I always hated this game no matter what system it was on....and whatever it called itself!
What happened to the vector graphics !!!!!!!!!! ]:(
lol dancing reflection in vectrex.
I can't get passed that wallpaper! It reminds me of a 70's camper. Are you filing in a camper now?
There are two words that come to mind when I see that wallpaper: style and taste.
Reading out the names at the end really creases me up lol
YAS!
I thought this game was supposed to come with an overlay...?
Problem is, he ate it.
YA$I looks pretty hard
Awesome sound track!
5:48 Dancing mark
awesome
hi
Much better port than the other ones.
that wallpaper tho'
first coment
YAAASS
yass
I'll tell ya the secret to space invaders - clear the lowest lines of enemies first and leave the higher up lines till the end.
Go horizontal not vertical.
Ah, cause the speed depends on the bottom invader(s).
If you shoot away the bottom ones first there's more space and time to shoot out the top invaders as the game speeds up the more you shoot away if that makes sense.
Daniel Flego The reason for shooting at the outside columns is so the invaders take more time to move from side to side (it speeds up each time they bounce off the wall).
Good point. I'd like to combine the both methods somehow. I think that's the way to go.
no overlay ?
Space Invaders was black and white originally so no need for an overlay.
+Mad Ape Productions Many Space Invaders arcade machines actually did use overlays to add color to the game.
Jeffrey Jackson was just about to say the same thing
+Kurt Angerdinger I believe this is using an overlay, but it's only varying colours of grey.
Hmmm, looking at the video more closely I see what you mean. It's an interesting effect to say the least.
Hmm why use my name!
