Hello Low Tech Linux, was just wondering if installing InkStitch v2.0 extension as shown in this video bypasses having to do the "install add-ons for Inkscape" step found in your previous download Tutorial video where you installed InkStitch v1.29? I just installed Inkscape and Inkstitch today following your first tutorial download but then found this new updated one after reading some comments on that video and then searching your channel... so this caused some confusion on my part. Thank you.
It doesn't actually bypass it, but you may not have to do it again if you're upgrading the plugin. If it's a new install or if the color palette isn't there it's now under Extensions>Inkstitch>Thread Color Management>Install color palettes for inkscape and is no longer called 'install add-ons'
Did you exclude inkstitch in defender? Do you have any other antivirus program running (macafee, malwarebytes, avast, norton)? You will have to exclude inkstitch in any antivirus you are running. If it has tagged inkstitch as an offender you will also have to remove inkstitch from quarantine. iirc defender>history>quarantine> and I think it's restore (sorry, don't use windows much).
Hi! While I was working on a somehow all of my paths disappeared. My Layer still shows but none of the paths are under it. My image is also still on the screen too and every time I click a certain path in the image it never pops up on the side under my layers. Can you please tell me how to get my paths back in view? Thanks 😞
If you have the latest inkscape installed (version 1.2) see this post : lowtechlinux.com/2022/07/07/inkstitch-layers-and-objects-button/ If not, make sure you're in the right menu entry for your objects, from the top menu go Object > objects (Only if you're not on the most recent inkscape)
Hello! I downloaded inkstitch and it does show up in inkscape but once I hit params and the design builds, I'm unable to save it, get a blue wheel and Inkscape promptly crashes and is non responsive. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Hello! I’m new to all this but I recently had problems with a certain design that requires a small fill, the stitching on the back keeps on getting bundled up and creating a tight mess. I’ve tried the preset designs and the machine works fine with them so I believe it’s the design. Is there anything I can change to the design that I’m not aware of ?
The most likely reasons are your stitch is too close. Probably not that if you haven't changed the params. Also could be if you have different colors stitching over the top of each other. If not any of these, we'll try something else.
Hello I was wondering if you can help with the trim command. For some reason, I would click trim command after sewing an object. With it simulates it shows that thread is indeed trimmed ( no jump stitch), it shows up as trimmed on both inkstitch and also Embrillance Essentials. But when embroidering on my machine with the file on a USB ( brother innovis NS 1750D) it doesn't recognize the command, and my objects have jump stitches between all of them . I've tried the inkstitch fb group however they denied my questions for help even without links in the question... perhaps you have a clue? thx! :)♥☻☺ Hope to hear from you
Well, I wish I had a magic bullet answer for you, but, as they say in lawyer speak "It depends". For example. We save everything in pes for our brother machines. We have a brother NQ1600 which cuts trims, and a brother SE1900 which doesn't with the same file. The 1900 does trims when embroidering from, say, Embrilliance but not from inkstitch. Having said that, and after I read your question I did some digging on the github page for inkstitch. It seems as though some people are having better luck with cut stitches when using DST file format, which our brothers do understand. Heather and I will be trying these different formats in the next couple days but for now I cannot confirm that it works. In your comment you didn't mention which file system you are saving the embroidery file as. Look up what your machine is able to use and try a couple of the different ones. Let me know if you have any success.
@@LowTechLinux hello I am using PES, however upon first try I just now used a premade DST design on my machine, and it DID NOT trim jump stitches. I looked at the premade design on inkstitch and indeed there was a trim command on it, however I'm not entirely sure the trim command was on EVERY OBJECT. I will try to now manually add the command to every object on this premade DST and I will stitch it out and see what I find :) ♥☻☺☻♥ TYSM!!!♥☻☺
Hey! Thanks so much for all the helpful videos. I’m writing a comment as a last resort- I believe I may just be missing something right in front of my face, but when I add something to my template (could be lettering, shapes, imported images, anything!), I don’t get paths or groups or layers. 😬 I’m thinking I might have to uninstall and try again or I’m wildly stupid 😅 thanks in advance!
Ok, start a new instance of inkscape and draw a shape, simple shape with the rectangles and squares tools. Once you have inkscape running you can just press 'r' to get that tool. Draw a square(ish) shape. As long as that shape shows up and 'creates' you're on the right 'path' lol. sorry. couldn't help it.... Now, from your menu at the top click on 'Object' which gives you a drop down, now click on 'Objects...' which is the first option in the drop down under Object. You should have a window show up on the right hand side of inkscape that says 'layer' and has something like 'rect844' under it. Yours probably won't have the number 844 but should have a number. That's the layer window you will be working with in inkstitch. This simple object is stitchable just like it is. It is a path already and you can apply inkstitch > params to it. Let me know if this helps.
@@LowTechLinux omg! I knew it had to be right in front of my face 🤦♀️ I appreciate your help so much! I’ve been following all of your tutorials and I was losing my mind wondering why I wasn’t getting that sidebar! Lol, thanks so so much! (And I do appreciate the puns, keep it up!)

@@briannaleap5302 Excellent. Glad I could help. 🙂
Puns.. Sometimes they just happen. 🤣😂
i can't see my embroidery machine on inkstitch
The only real thing that matters is that you can save with the same extension as your machine can read.
Does not work in windows 10. I did everything you did .
You'll need to whitelist inkstitch in your antivirus software.
inkstitch.org/ru/docs/install-windows/#troubleshoot
I did white list it before I made the first comment. It doesn't work.
Honestly I'm not sure what might be wrong there.
