+Luke Davenport Just an FYI, the DLC for this game is planned for seasons, like an actual episodic series. So depending on how that goes it may work out but you have to realize they didn't make this multiplayer for a reason. In a world full of multiplayer all about bang bang shoot shoot this type of game is actually very refreshing to have.
Yeah, except in case of this game though. Not really a very good game. Visually impressive if not stunning at times, yes. However the game as a whole is really quite bad.
I’m very late to the party and only just now playing this- I really regret waiting so long, it’s a fantastic game! I thought I would hate the live action part, but it actually adds to the experience. And despite the over abundance of time travel themed sci-fi stuff, they actually find a take on it that is a bit outside the box and very entertaining!
The best thing about remedy games is the immaculate, spectacular and jaw dropping sound design in each of their games , it adds so much to the experience
I just finished Quantum Break on Game Pass yesterday. I hate that the streaming doesn't work (as of Oct 2023) so I had to watch the episodes on RUclips. But the glitches are unbearable, especially the glass shader glitch where it turns your screen to colorful hues.
@@Greybell So true I just played it and had to restart multiple times when I got blinded ....And I was somebody who did not know that we are supposed to watch live action episodes in between . I only realised that in act 3 when I was lost like how the heck are these characters related , what's going on lol .
The biggest problem with Quantum Break is about storytelling. It's just to bad. The story is amazing, gameplay is absolutely insane, but its just too much CG!!! And it breaks the feeling and sense of progression. So when we're really excited about combat and gameplay, there's a CG or walking simulator to break it. It's really annoying.
I'd like to see something like a "Shrodinger's dodge" or something. Like where you could either be shot, or not shot when heading straight into bullets when its activated.
+PANDORASBOXRELEASE while that power would have been amazing, they actually do bring that up in the game in such a way that, if there is a sequel (there needs to be), i think that could be in it
So true . That scene where the brothers walk out of the university entrance and time freezes for the first time I was like where have I seen this before 😅
honestly i love this game to death except for ONE THING this game has one of my all time biggest pet peeves, it provides you with a TON of stuff to read and look at but when you stop to look at or read something....the friendly npcs you are with keep trying to rush you. i fucking hate this, if i want to take the time to enjoy the world you made for me....dont make someone or something make me feel rushed. there is a time and place to rush the player of a game, when they are reading a world building piece of material you left in the game is NOT one of the times to rush a player.
+demon2thousand this is SO TRUE thank you!!! this kinda bugs me in games as well. don't rush me unless i'm in danger or getting shot at! i wanna enjoy the story pieces.
right? i mean dont get me wrong it is a situation that you would need to rush in in REAL life, because people are after you and time is unstable and what not....but maybe just...i dunno....pause the game world when you open a document or something? that way you can still rush us (Since in real life who WOULDNT be rushing you to move your ass in these situations?) but at least then it wouldnt happen while we try to read in game documents or other such things.
+demon2thousand yeah exactly! it seems like it pauses the game/story when you open the menu to like, level up your powers and stuff, so why can't it pause when you're examining things that are essential to your understanding of the plot? It wouldn't even be a stretch story-wise, you could literally explain it in game by having time stutter or by having Jack time bubble himself when he does that kind of interaction, so he can take as much time examining evidence and stuff as he wants to
I just got this game yesterday and just finished the second episode. I really like how the live action worked into it. It wasn’t forced and it made me consider my decisions a lot more before making any. The live action also gave you a break from the amount of information you were getting in game. The amount of lore you get is amazing but I can also understand that it can be really overwhelming at the same time. The narrative/lore is pretty easy to find and it does a great job of letting you also understand the mindset and motivations of characters and gives you some early background on their real intentions.
Man, I was pretty stoked for this one because I'm one of those people who complains there aren't enough single player game, but it looks like I'll be waiting for this to be 20 - 40 dollars in a few months.
I agree with the collectibles/narrative situation. I find myself missing a lot because of the forward progression. Luckily there is a timeline that tells you what you've missed and where to grab them for a second play through.
Kinda wish it came to PS4, looks great, really enjoying Control at the moment on PS5 and would love to play this. Same with Alan Wake🤣 got to track down a copy of that for my 360.
You’re in for a treat. The last two acts (as well as the end of the third one) are full of surprises, “plot twists”, and the two most important junctions.
bought it should've rented it. beat it in one sitting. it took longer to download everything for it than it did to beat it. and yes the game looks great at times and shut other times
This is my favorite game I've ever played. I think it's so unique in it's elements and how it incorporates live action and decision making into the game. I really wish it got more press because I thought this game was magnificent
just clued into this game because of Alan Wake 2 - just needed more Remedy in my life! Really loved it. Agree with the criticisms, but ultimately will probably replay and am in the bag for a sequel if they ever make one
Wish that way more gms we got were more focused on the single player story & experience. 1 of the better gaming experiences & stories ive had & taken part off. There's nothing better than playin thru an emotionally indulging, gripping, & immersive experience of a great single player campaign.
I actually picked up this game because of this video. I wasn’t blown away by most aspects of the game, but I think the story is very strong. Really unique and mostly fun. Worth it at a discounted price.
Honestly my favorite parts of this game don't really have much to do with the gameplay, but the story and the visuals. The story is really compelling and I've gotten REALLY into exploring every last detail of this world, and I'm already curious about the stuff they didn't expand upon. And the visuals during the time-stopped sequences are AMAZING, the stutters/fracture are my favorite part because being able to move around with sparks stopped in their paths and falling objects frozen midair is SO cool, plus that fractured glass looking glitchy effect that ripples through the world when you use any of the time powers is super neat. The scene on the bridge where you're basically platforming along a bunch of broken pieces of the bridge as it's frozen falling into the river is AMAZING and I would probably play a game made up of just gameplay like that. Especially with how pretty it is and how nice the colors are. That's another thing that struck me about this game, visually speaking, is the color palette. It reminds me a lot of why I liked Pacific Rim so much when that movie first came out, because it was so colorful and bright and interesting, and there are a lot of similarities in the use of blue/yellow contrast-y stuff. It's just pleasant to look at. Anyway I think you can tell that I REALLY love this game, and I thoroughly look forward to buying it when I have saved up enough money. Sadly I can't afford much of anything right now, but when I can, this is one of the first "frivolous" purchases I plan on making!
I somehow missed this game completely, I think because I wasn't gaming much when it came out. But wow seeing this for the first time I knew immediately it was from the devs that made Control which I love. I might have to go back and play this
Quantum Break is the best game I've ever played, and I've played a lot of games. It is by far my favorite. I think that is because I don't consider myself a gamer. If I could divide my time between gaming and movies/tv, I would do 30% games 70% movies. I am much more enthralled by watching a story unfold in full than I am by the actual act of playing. In most games, the unfolding of the storyline suffers due to gameplay. By that I mean if you play on Easy you get the story, but if you want the challenge of a good game, you end up repeating levels 50 times because there is one part you can't beat. I know that doesn't bother a lot of people, but it really takes away from my experience of the story. I never had this problem with Quantum Break. Even playing on hard, the game still flowed well and felt like a story. I think if you are really into gaming, rather than story(movie/tv type) this game will feel a little flat, like it falls short. But to someone like me (who would rather watch a good movie than play a good game), Quantum Break is a revolution. I would rather play Quantum Break than watch a movie. And the strong feeling of the story keeps driving me to replay it again and again.
I'm finally playing this game in 2022 and I'm really enjoying it! Not perfect but a super fun single player game! Wishing I played it sooner. Over all I'd give it a 7/10.
I think its a great game. Solid story. Quick thinking fast fighting firefights. This game has incredible pace. And its voice acting is flawless. Because the voices really belong to those faces. Its very credible. And not to mention os has replay value.... Because you make many choices throughout the game. 9.8 out of 10.
I think an idea similar to this would make for an awesome Flash game. As the Flash you would always move at normal speeds. but when you use his super speed, the world would slow down around you.
It would be cool if this game was a prime stealth game, where the protagonist kills guards to progress to areas guarded by them, but can reverse time so they are back alive and you're past them. Would be cool seeing them get absolutely rekted and you rewind it so they never knew what happened but you do.
It was a little off for me when I saw that the movie cutscenes were live action. But I guess I can overlook that flaw since the game does look pretty good
+Jemsys might not be that bad but I feel like there is too much going on according to this review in a Linear Shooter game, I would have been more happy with an opportunity to mess around with the Quantum Break power in a free roam environment............
+Jemsys not really. QB actually delivers and it looks good specially some sections look amazing. this game is more like a love letter from Remedy to its fans.
your channel is so nice, we see you try to pick out every pros and cons about the game you're talking about, that's so nicer than some "video games" channels ^^
I fucking loved it. Beat it already. Very rich and interesting story with many twists while at the same time, having time powers is bad ass I would give a 9/10
This game was a lot of fun. Would like to see them go back to it in some way. Not sure how exactly, but would be cool to play again. One of the best time manipulation games I've played.
I would sell my soul to the devil to have Remedy remake the first two Max Payne games reaching contemporary AAA Remedy/Rockstar standards (same as Quantum Break).
OMG you said it before I could comment the jumping and climbing my God horrid reminds me of old uncharted. That being said I love the game. This, the new tomb raiders, uncharted all of those with a solid story that makes you feel like you're living out a movie
+Ace's Channel I'm playing as I'm typing, I'm really enjoying it. I love max Payne too, I think this isn't quite as good as 3, but is a very fun and memorable game.
T.J. The Gamer I'd assume max payne is too but this just looks like another one of those games that people are going to love but completely forget about about a month after release and never remember what it was.
Amazing game, graphics are beautiful and facial animations are one of the best i have seen. Took little less than 13hours to complete and i read 80% of the emails.
Yuquico Schwartz Back before Microsoft released the name of their future console "Xbox one" rumors of the name of the console was going to be Xbox 720. Since this game has a 720p resolution. . . get it now. It was a bad joke lol
+Hitsugata The game actually uses 4 x 720p Renders and merges them together to then output at 1080p not upscale. Get it right if you are going to spew Bullshit and stupid jokes. Its old.
thanx jake I asked you on your channel to do a before you buy for this and you did man you are awesome i love the look of the game im getting it asap once again thanx
u see how the scoring system has changed for a lot of people now. He said he was very mixed and unsure about the game but gave it an 8. that's an amazing score
This is free on Xbox Game Pass and I just downloaded it. The combat with the slow-mo reminds me of the old FEAR games (the first two, primarily. The third one was trash). This looks cool and I think I'm going to enjoy it 🤙
Just played this and it was the first FPS where I did care for the story and wanted to know how it ends, probably thanks to those real live action films. They add a lot!
+Chris Watson most games with a 4-6 hour campaign (likr COD) have a very big multiplayer aspect to it. 10 hours really is short for $60 but that is just me
+Chris Watson ya but just because a lot of games have short campaigns doesn't justify anything😂 also i disagree most campaigns are at least 10 hours. unless if you are playing indies or AAA titles with most likely tact on campaigns.
You are very mixed about it but would give it an 8/10? That doesn't add up, an 8/10 game will have problems like any other game but not as many as you described
+John Shearer It's 'cause people these days don't know how to give a score properly. 5/10 is seen as terrible and 7/10 is seen as average, for whatever reason. Like if something is a 7 it can't possibly be great.
+mrcheesemunch I think it's because we generally associate the numbered rating system with grades we would get in school. 5/10 is the same as getting an F, and 7/10 is the same as getting a C.
I would like to mention that the live action video segments aren't actually on the disc. They stream whenever you watch one so if you have limited internet or a bad connection you may want to wait for this game. That being said you can download the videos to avoid issues, but the download size is around 80 gigs.
I am not a sophisticated player so I like the game. Concept is amazing. Wish it could be a movie. Made me think later about how I have lived my life, and what I would change and what I would leave alone if I could go back and change mistakes. Made me appreciate who and what I have now.
+Johnny Campos maybe yea because super hot wont take much time in development as this one but time shift was in 2007 and it was one of the first games who used the time mechanic thing was so good imo
A l i v e 么 doesn't mean it "owns" the time mechanic... Do you call out battlefield for copying call of duty? People are getting really annoying with the whole "this is totally a copy of..." Mentality... Just play games and have fun... Like I almost feel bad for people like that because it seems like they can't enjoy anything
Everytime I think about getting a game first thing i do is search 'before you buy' XD shot man you have a great channel and I really dig your honesty in all of your reviews, keep on keeping on ;)
i got the game on release day. i love it. the story is great the gameplay is great. like you said i noticed a few glitches. during cut scenes it can be hard to see some people because there would be a time rift covering them. but overall i would strongly recommend the gsme for its story.
1/10 - I've never given a game a 1/10. 2/10 - Same as 1/10. 3/10 - Games like Ride To Hell Retribution and Sonic '06 that are bad but could have been okay 4/10 - Games that are okay but they're lacking or broken. 5/10 - uninteresting, mundane, or just okay games that I would recommend to people who were interested. 6/10 - A little bit of replayability and decent gameplay/a good story. Limbo, Resident Evil (PSOne). 7/10 - Something worth recommending to a friend. Good mechanics, good story, good gameplay elements, a decent amount of content. Resident Evil 4, Prototype (1 and 2), Dead Space. 8/10 - A great game. Something that's close to a work of art that leaves me satisfied at the end of a gaming session. Fallout 3/New Vegas, Naruto Shippuden UNS3/4, Dead Rising 2 OTR, Skyrim. 9/10 - An amazing game, truly spectacular. Would recommend to strangers on the street. Fallout 4, Until Dawn. 10/10 - It's impossible to get a 10/10. Nothing is perfect.
10/10 never really has to mean it's perfect, just a way of saying, you definitely shouldn't pass the game up and it'll likely always be a enjoyable experience. Also, Dead Space a 7... it's how you feel, but really?
+SCARS FOR ALL Nah, it's dated and hasn't aged well. I love Resident Evil and I PERSONALLY prefer RE4 but Fallout 4 is a million times better in terms of graphics, content, replayability, size, and it's just generally better. I don't like letting my subjective view get in the way when I'm critiquing a game unless it proves a point. I've played Resident Evil since I was like 4-years-old. It's my favourite game series and if I had to choose 5 games to play for the rest of my life, 3 of those 5 would be a Resident Evil game. In my head, Resident Evil 4 is a good game. But in my heart, it's an amazing game. I still remember the smell of the Limited Edition case when I first got it. I've spent more hours in RE4 than any other game.
+GameRazor247 It's not necessarily my opinion (not saying it's a fact). It's open to debate. When I played through it I really enjoyed myself. The game was the right amount of "scary" and had enough action to keep me entertained while a dismembered necromorphs. The story was okay but the thing that kept me interested was the immersion. I actually felt as if Isaacs character was developing as he was further exposed to the world around him. The weapon upgrades were awesome, the lore was intriguing, and the monsters weren't all the same. It certainly isn't a survival-horror though. Anyone that considers the re-skinned RE4 clone *ahem* I mean Dead Space as "survival-horror" really needs a lesson in video game genres.
Ive had it since 2018. I bought a cheap gaming laptop on blackfriday 2018 and got this game for 2$ on disk shortly afterwards. The gaming laptop had a 1050ti and technically played the game but not that well. Bogged down low framerates on lower settings. Everyone said it was power hungry so i put it down. I just got a new Asus a17 4060 laptop and now i can play it on ultra with great fps. I think the game itself was just ahead of the average graphic power at the time
Really good story if a bit short, the live action segments were very well executed, and felt very much connected to the main game. The main flaw was though that I felt I knew more about the side characters than the main characters by the end of the game. Game play wise the time powers were very fun and interesting with the extra dynamics they added to fights and how they could be use to solve puzzles, unfortunately the guns weren't quite as good quality as their damage and aim was a bit inconsistent and the infinite ammo pistol you had permanently slightly ruined the tension you get from running low on ammo (although I understand they had to do it otherwise some of the fights would've been impossible without ammo). Overall probably my favourite single player release for the Xbox One thus far, with it being packed with action, a decent science foundation to base the fiction of the time travelling science on and plenty of interesting, likeable/ purposely dislikeable characters, that will hopefully be expanded on in future iterations.
I am very late to this comment, but I think we get to know a lot about the side characters because they do play very important roles from behind the scenes, and I feel like the main element in the story is the end of time itself.
I did actually buy it and play a few hours after sending the comment, I'm just interested to see what gameranx has to say about it lol. What about you guys? I keep screwing up at the fourth boss
+The Unbreakable Nut to me,when I first saw the trailer I was like"awesome xbox is gonna have their own kind of infamous" but then when I saw people actually playing it,i was disappointed, everything look and sorta feels wrong, the power is cool and all but they should've give you more options to choose from,i mean heck, its time powers, there are limitless options,it doesn't give you the freedom of exploration like infamous does,i mean if only they copied infamous' exploration/area freedom,it'd have been a game that would go head to head against infamous, but to me it feels like the game is unfinished.
Masterking I don't see why people are comparing this to infamous, just because you have powers? I remember when sunset over drive was out, everybody was also comparing to infamous, and all of those 3 games are totally diferent, all good games, infamous adn sunset overdrive has more this feeling of open world while quantum break is more linear, straight forward because is meant to be like that, the game is not perfect but is great, you enjoy it in a diferent way you would enjoy Infamous, the narrative, the motion capture, the cut scenes are great, I would just say go and play they game, don't judge it by watching some youtube videos and we should stop comparing games that are totally diferent.
Thanks for the video, I almost bought this game right away but realized I'd rather prioritize my focus on the games I haven't finished yet. That being said I will be adding this to my list of the games for the upcoming months. Thanks again for the review.
Somehow this looks boring. Who needs guns when you have a kickass supa powah, too much shooting that actually require so less accuracy. And the powah is useless when it comes to mobility, like you can’t run over the sky high buildings etc. Maybe the open world is just flat. Also the main character doesn’t look mysterious or interesting at all. I am just waiting for prototype 3 here.
That's the point. The gameplay is about comboing your powers in careful ways to deal with enemies and not full rely on guns. On the surface. It looks generic, but it actually not.
+Birdy Brain I agree to an extent... WAIT LOL yep I was about to say the same thing.. This game would have been amazing if it was an open world kinda game like prototype... That game was amazing!
I'm glad you lemme know that it's only 9-10 hrs, because for me that shows that there isn't much replayability to it, and probably not worth my money until it's on sale, granted there is always going to be completionists out there that'll say there's more, but to me the game should be based on the main story, as it seems you kept to. So thank you for the review, I'll be happy with Enter the Gungeon (which by the way is incredible and you should check out).
The biggest issue as a PC gamer I have with this isn't anything mentioned but the fact that it's hosted solely on the Windows 10 Store rather than Steam. Not only does this mean no Steam sales for it ever, it also means pretty much forced to 100% Mircosoft rules and regulations. Mainly, no returns...
Finally played and finished the game (All collectibles, chronon souces, intel, and ability based achievements, going to start my hard playthrough next)! Oh man do you all have to give this a try if you have Game Pass! At the time of me posting this (26-Mar-2023), this game is on sale for $10 which I would say is a steal for the experience and quality of game you're getting so I would get it! Big pros: Abilities are some of the coolest and most fun to use in a game I've tried like this. Story felt a little all over the place at first, but the game does a really good tying it all up near the end. For this being a 2016 game, the graphics are absolutely gorgeous (the FPS I'll mention in a bit) and can stack against some of the big AAA games being released today! Minor complaints: Similar to jake, the platforming/jumping doesn't feel the best/clunky (but the places you platform through are super cool). The FPS isn't optimized at 60 even playing on a Series X which explains some stuttering in certain cases The collectibles did feel, a bit much. First playing through all of Act 1 I was able to enjoy reading through them however later on in the game, there was so many and they were so long that I ended up just collecting them for the achievement and reading them later. All in all: 9/10 worth your time! (SPOLIERS DOWN BELOW) They definitely set this up for a sequel for two main reasons: a) Martin Hatch does pop again at the end of the game even though L. Bruke literally stabbed him in the head/eye!? Like what?! Leaves the question if the fracture was really fixed. b) There is an anomaly in the final act (turns out to be Dr. Kim) that goes around and literally kills everything in site, and one of the notes before reaching Serene's office is from that him stating that he has almost mastered/preferred this state of being. I thought this was going to be the final boss and also, where does this anomaly even go? Does it get resolved with the supposed CRF fixing the fracture? RIP Lance Reddick however so it's almost not possible to continue a story arc with him as the main antagonist since ya know.
+The Only Bane I dig the art direction of the game. The overbright regions, the wide angle setting shifts due to the time manip, the general scale of destruction around you that's interactable with and especially the stutters. Fuck haters
This helps me a lot to have an idea about the game, and I think I will like it, I love reading a lot of things to get deep into the story, and the shooting looks more like an old school game so it's a must buy for me
just finished the game, and it is soo frickin good! sad to see people hate on a game when they havent even tried it out.. Best game in a long long time in my opinion because its so refreshing and different to other typical shooter games. Just try it out and you will be hooked!
I'm playing it right now, as I watch your commentary, the game is awesome. love it. The one thing I do not is the jumping, climbing walking and running they are far too slow don't the main character does not appear to be the superhero well trained type, just make the jumping better and the walking not so static, the running Faster, still pending comment on the melee attacks. Do you live action TV show interaction is genius. Mobility is critical to me in every game so my rank for it would be a 7 or 8 like yourself. No all and all to beat the game is Platinum, Ultra if they fixed the mobility issues Ultra being a 9-10.
Alan Wake- Light is your weapon.
Quantum Break- Time is your weapon.
+Jacob Latham Max Payne - weapons are your weapon.
+gameranx lol
quantum break was a bit educational in the beginnig
+gameranx I like it!

WOW Amazing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Quantum Break is fantastic. Mechanically sound, visually different and thematically unique.
Thoroughly enjoying it!

+Al3jmE I don't really care about graphics but all these next-gen games all look plastic, red dead redemption from 6 years ago looks better.
One of the most underrated and unique games I ever played. I can honestly say that I never played anything like this.
I just beat Control a few days ago and I just picked this up to play! Can’t wait!
Bro these are in my cart right now with the ultimate game sale. This, Alan Wake 2, Median Man, Ash House, etc all dope AF!
I was freaking out during the cutscenes! Then I heard the commentary "live action cutscenes" my mind then relaxed
I agree with the collectibles/narrative situation. I find myself missing a lot because of the forward progression. Luckily there is a timeline that tells you what you've missed and where to grab them for a second play through.
Game is on Game Pass and I'm on act 3 and so far, I'm having a blast. . Fun mechanics, feels like Max Payne on 6 Red Bulls.. lol
@@dustinakadustin it's an Xbox exclusive
@@king_of_failure that's what my comment says yes.
@@dustinakadustin oh ok sorry I misunderstood what you were saying
Who else is watching this after they bought quantum break? Lol.
me, great game
+Marley Ress That's why I did not get it lol I could tell before the game came out it was not with its price tag maybe £20 at most.
Im watching it before my xbox arrives even lol i got the quantum break bundle so ya :p
bought it should've rented it. beat it in one sitting. it took longer to download everything for it than it did to beat it. and yes the game looks great at times and shut other times
im watching it after finishing the game😂😂😂 its pretty awesome game!!
Agreed. Looking forward to the sequel!!!
Adam Majoria its made for casual gamers
That really is an unpopular opinion
Couldnt agree with you more....
yeah same tho.
I'm finally playing this game in 2022 and I'm really enjoying it! Not perfect but a super fun single player game! Wishing I played it sooner. Over all I'd give it a 7/10.
Alan wake
Quantum break
Rubber snake
Chocolate shake
Meh
+Jack Hadaki Ahahaha.. totally didn't expect it as I was scrolling thru the comments... you made me spit the water I was drinking onto my monitor.
For some reason I thought of that when he mentioned the unintentional rhyme
😂
I thought he was listing remedy games😂
Fairly odd, comment
The teleporting soldiers... never fails to amaze me
I think it is the first time that in the picture of the video, the head matches with the body :)
i don't have the game or the xbox1 so i just watched this video for fun
U can get it for pc
+Mr.Mr1313 Yeah, but you would have to deal with the Windows Store.
+Spirit in Black windows store?
It's the app store for Windows 10, and it sucks. The worse thing is, all of Microsoft's first party titles will only release there.
+Mr.Mr1313 and it requires a pretty decent machine to run
I think its a great game. Solid story. Quick thinking fast fighting firefights. This game has incredible pace. And its voice acting is flawless. Because the voices really belong to those faces. Its very credible. And not to mention os has replay value.... Because you make many choices throughout the game. 9.8 out of 10.
I think an idea similar to this would make for an awesome Flash game. As the Flash you would always move at normal speeds. but when you use his super speed, the world would slow down around you.
this is why I loving having the ps4 and Xbox one cause I get to play really good exclusives like this one.
+Rudy Castañeda They're both great and powerful consoles. So, how lucky you are for owning PS4 and X1 :)
But I guess I can overlook that flaw since the game does look pretty good
I love Jake's voice gives me warm feelings inside ya know. if only he could narrate my life
Quantum Break is basically Xbox version of Order 1886 but much better
+Jemsys might not be that bad but I feel like there is too much going on according to this review in a Linear Shooter game, I would have been more happy with an opportunity to mess around with the Quantum Break power in a free roam environment............
+Jemsys not really. QB actually delivers and it looks good specially some sections look amazing. this game is more like a love letter from Remedy to its fans.
Not really
+Jemsys I thought it was basically Super Hot...with a bigger budget
+jay kj Yeah that too
your channel is so nice, we see you try to pick out every pros and cons about the game you're talking about, that's so nicer than some "video games" channels ^^
I fucking loved it. Beat it already. Very rich and interesting story with many twists while at the same time, having time powers is bad ass I would give a 9/10
This is a game that I've thought about playing for years and just never got around to it. Will have to give it a shot sometime.
Really cool game. I like the story and I like how they blended live action elements into it. It all flows really well
I love playing this game on my Xbox one. I love that there is an time manipulation mechanic that is similar to bullet time used in Max Payne!
Probably my favorite game to come out in the 2010's
This game was a lot of fun. Would like to see them go back to it in some way. Not sure how exactly, but would be cool to play again. One of the best time manipulation games I've played.
I would sell my soul to the devil to have Remedy remake the first two Max Payne games reaching contemporary AAA Remedy/Rockstar standards (same as Quantum Break).
OMG you said it before I could comment the jumping and climbing my God horrid reminds me of old uncharted. That being said I love the game. This, the new tomb raiders, uncharted all of those with a solid story that makes you feel like you're living out a movie
But will this game replace the thousand's of Max Payne 3 games in the discount video bin?
Dunno
Eventually
T.J. The Gamer Sad truth
I guess the xbox 720 rumor was true all along
what?
Yuquico Schwartz Back before Microsoft released the name of their future console "Xbox one" rumors of the name of the console was going to be Xbox 720. Since this game has a 720p resolution. . . get it now. It was a bad joke lol
Excuse me but are you high, incredibly stupid or came from another dimension?
+imverykawaii that's a good one xD
+Hitsugata The game actually uses 4 x 720p Renders and merges them together to then output at 1080p not upscale. Get it right if you are going to spew Bullshit and stupid jokes. Its old.
thanx jake I asked you on your channel to do a before you buy for this and you did man you are awesome i love the look of the game im getting it asap once again thanx
Does gameranx reply?
+Yuab Teweld sometimes
+gameranx savage
+gameranx Never seen them reply, like ever. Have you?
+gameranx no chill XD
Stop e-beggin
It’s almost the end of 2024 and I came late to the party. This game is like Jake said, a very Remedy game and I’m here for it. I absolutely love it.
5 years later and I'm just starting it woohoo
How is it so far? It's still on game pass right? Maybe I'll give it a try.
u see how the scoring system has changed for a lot of people now. He said he was very mixed and unsure about the game but gave it an 8. that's an amazing score
This is free on Xbox Game Pass and I just downloaded it. The combat with the slow-mo reminds me of the old FEAR games (the first two, primarily. The third one was trash). This looks cool and I think I'm going to enjoy it 🤙
Is it just me but when I saw the photo for this I thought it was Sam for corridor digital
Just played this and it was the first FPS where I did care for the story and wanted to know how it ends, probably thanks to those real live action films. They add a lot!
i'll play it when it's $20.
I agree. 10-9hours of gameplay? Not worth £50/$60
+Renegade So now 10 hours of game play isn't enough? You do realize majority of games story/campaign are 4-5-6 hours right?
+HackingSpartan but i wan't to play the game :/ imo $60 isn't worth a glorified tv show. but i'm not saying the game is bad.
+Chris Watson most games with a 4-6 hour campaign (likr COD) have a very big multiplayer aspect to it. 10 hours really is short for $60 but that is just me
+Chris Watson ya but just because a lot of games have short campaigns doesn't justify anything😂 also i disagree most campaigns are at least 10 hours. unless if you are playing indies or AAA titles with most likely tact on campaigns.
its a refreshing take on fps, definitely a valiant effort to push the genre and im 6 years late to the party but hey ...times relative
You are very mixed about it but would give it an 8/10? That doesn't add up, an 8/10 game will have problems like any other game but not as many as you described
+John Shearer Was thinking the exact same thing.
Maybe because they are minor complaints.
+John Shearer It's 'cause people these days don't know how to give a score properly.
5/10 is seen as terrible and 7/10 is seen as average, for whatever reason.
Like if something is a 7 it can't possibly be great.
+mrcheesemunch Angry Joe doesn't add up to those tho!
Who's here after the steam's sale?
I am not a sophisticated player so I like the game. Concept is amazing. Wish it could be a movie. Made me think later about how I have lived my life, and what I would change and what I would leave alone if I could go back and change mistakes. Made me appreciate who and what I have now.
this game maybe took the idea of time mechanics from time shift or SUPER HOT
this started development before superhot
+Johnny Campos maybe yea because super hot wont take much time in development as this one but time shift was in 2007 and it was one of the first games who used the time mechanic thing was so good imo
A l i v e 么 doesn't mean it "owns" the time mechanic... Do you call out battlefield for copying call of duty? People are getting really annoying with the whole "this is totally a copy of..." Mentality... Just play games and have fun... Like I almost feel bad for people like that because it seems like they can't enjoy anything
+Johnny Campos better ?
A l i v e 么 yes
Everytime I think about getting a game first thing i do is search 'before you buy' XD shot man you have a great channel and I really dig your honesty in all of your reviews, keep on keeping on ;)
Huh. I had no interest in this game, but this video has made me kind of want to play it.
I'm still playing it, and at first I wasn't sure about the live episodes...but I'm loving this game.....
HAH THIS IS UNCHARTED AND INFAMOUS MIXED TOGETHER 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
i got the game on release day. i love it. the story is great the gameplay is great. like you said i noticed a few glitches. during cut scenes it can be hard to see some people because there would be a time rift covering them. but overall i would strongly recommend the gsme for its story.
1/10 - I've never given a game a 1/10.
2/10 - Same as 1/10.
3/10 - Games like Ride To Hell Retribution and Sonic '06 that are bad but could have been okay
4/10 - Games that are okay but they're lacking or broken.
I'm sorry but RE4 is 500x better than Fallout 4.
+SCARS FOR ALL
Nah, it's dated and hasn't aged well.
+Terry Kawve tl;dr
+GameRazor247
It's not necessarily my opinion (not saying it's a fact).
I think the game itself was just ahead of the average graphic power at the time
Maybe its just me but I get a real imfamous vibe...
Only thing they have in common is that the protagonist has powers
Enter The Gungeon - Before You Buy?
upvote
no, just but it. right now
+No Time To Explain buy it its great ;D
I did actually buy it and play a few hours after sending the comment, I'm just interested to see what gameranx has to say about it lol. What about you guys? I keep screwing up at the fourth boss
It's great get it
I had a dream that I met Jake baldino and it made me happy as shit. I'm a huge fan of his and gameranx is my go to place for videogame stuff.
It looks like infamous
+The Unbreakable Nut sure the time effects, the shooting, the cut live actions scenes and the motion captures make it look like infamous, right?
it kinda is
+The Unbreakable Nut Yes! i know!!
you right! xD
Masterking
I don't see why people are comparing this to infamous, just because you have powers?
I am just waiting for prototype 3 here.
powah
Agreed
That's the point. The gameplay is about comboing your powers in careful ways to deal with enemies and not full rely on guns. On the surface. It looks generic, but it actually not.
+Birdy Brain I agree to an extent... WAIT LOL yep I was about to say the same thing.. This game would have been amazing if it was an open world kinda game like prototype... That game was amazing!
prototype 3 would be fucking awesome
I'm glad you lemme know that it's only 9-10 hrs, because for me that shows that there isn't much replayability to it, and probably not worth my money until it's on sale, granted there is always going to be completionists out there that'll say there's more, but to me the game should be based on the main story, as it seems you kept to. So thank you for the review, I'll be happy with Enter the Gungeon (which by the way is incredible and you should check out).
Watching 5 months later because of steam release! :)
Funny how people categorise this game without knowing what makes Remedy games so special. and this game is no different.
Loved this game! Hoping we get another!
a great $20 summer sale title
True definitely not worth full price
+Rian Zzz Sadly.
+Rian Zzz Extreme face palm
And The Division was for alot of people? Get the fuck outta here.
Big pros:
Abilities are some of the coolest and most fun to use in a game I've tried like this.
Story felt a little all over the place at first, but the game does a really good tying it all up near the end.
For this being a 2016 game, the graphics are absolutely gorgeous (the FPS I'll mention in a bit) and can stack against some of the big AAA games being released today!
Minor complaints:
Similar to jake, the platforming/jumping doesn't feel the best/clunky (but the places you platform through are super cool).
The FPS isn't optimized at 60 even playing on a Series X which explains some stuttering in certain cases
The collectibles did feel, a bit much. First playing through all of Act 1 I was able to enjoy reading through them however later on in the game, there was so many and they were so long that I ended up just collecting them for the achievement and reading them later.
All in all: 9/10 worth your time!
(SPOLIERS DOWN BELOW)
They definitely set this up for a sequel for two main reasons:
a) Martin Hatch does pop again at the end of the game even though L.
"Looks like shit"
"Looks basic"
-every Playstation gamer ever on Quantum Break
Hey that's not true. I'm a playstation owner and i think quantum break actually looks generic and shitty.
oh wait, nvm. Caught myself
It looks fucking gorgeous. Though it does look basic.
+The Only Bane I dig the art direction of the game. The overbright regions, the wide angle setting shifts due to the time manip, the general scale of destruction around you that's interactable with and especially the stutters.
Fuck haters
I play both consoles cause both are good 🗿
This helps me a lot to have an idea about the game, and I think I will like it, I love reading a lot of things to get deep into the story, and the shooting looks more like an old school game so it's a must buy for me
Works better as a TV Show than a video game
I'm your '2,955,000 + 1' subscriber and your channel is awesome bro
Honestly loved it 8.5/10
When he said the TV show part looks a bit higher quality then a CW show, I looked at he Flash
I love gameranx upload rate every morning I began my day with a gameranx video 😊😊
I just want to freeze time so I can walk around the enemy's and take their guns.
just finished the game, and it is soo frickin good! sad to see people hate on a game when they havent even tried it out.. Best game in a long long time in my opinion because its so refreshing and different to other typical shooter games. Just try it out and you will be hooked!
Yet another game that was sold as a 10/10 but is actually a 7ish/10.
+masscashstacks Yea pretty much
+masscashstacks that's still a great score
Never Heard of marketing? Jeez, i‘d be suspicious if a Company wouldn‘t sell their game as a 10\10.
I love when Gamepass chucks up some rando game and I get to go back and listen to young Jake tell me if I wanna play it or not
Dark souls 3 before you buy?
+carnostorm shit game...
YES PLEASE!!!
+carnostorm why
Not necessary. Dark souls 3 WILL be good :D
+UNseen Masamune cant handle dying?
I'm playing it right now, as I watch your commentary, the game is awesome. love it. The one thing I do not is the jumping, climbing walking and running they are far too slow don't the main character does not appear to be the superhero well trained type, just make the jumping better and the walking not so static, the running Faster, still pending comment on the melee attacks. Do you live action TV show interaction is genius. Mobility is critical to me in every game so my rank for it would be a 7 or 8 like yourself. No all and all to beat the game is Platinum, Ultra if they fixed the mobility issues Ultra being a 9-10.
Great game. Purely brilliant.
yes
Especially after the credits i was like holy shit.
