When Riddick (Vin Diesel from the Fast and Furious franchise), a Furian mercenary, is recaptured by Toombs (Nick Chinlund), he is taken to a prison moon, Crematoria. However, Jack (Alexa Davalos from Feast of Love and The Mist), a girl Riddick rescued, is locked up in Crematoria as well, and she’s willing to escape.

Over the top is an understatement.
I love the Riddick character because he is "just a guy" who is able to survive in a sci-fi world at near impossible odds with only blades and tea cups.
That's what made the character so unique. But then they turned him into some super hero that fights big monsters and that ruins the trope.
My favorite is how she is laughing to herself because she already knows it will happen exactly how he said it.

Best movie ever. It hits so many right notes. Deep mythology. Fantasy elements. Mysterious strong man. Epic music. Epic set pieces. Prophecies. Politics. Subterfuge. Backstabbing. And in the end....

This movie was met with a lot of criticism when it came out (people loved Pitch Black--which I also love--and wanted another Sci-Fi horror). It is still one of my favorite movies of all-time to this day. The movie ended up losing the studio about 50 million. It did not perform well. It is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated movies ever made. Yes, it is cheesy. Yes, sometimes the acting wasn't the best. Yes, it was doing perhaps too much too fast. People didn't realize it was technically a sequel. People didn't realize it wasn't going to be a horror. Bad decisions but fantastic movie. I don't care if people hated it - I will always love it and the cheese.
Many good movies are not performing well. People aren't going much to the theaters anymore. Now it needs to be some well stablished franchise or well marketed masterpiece or else anything with a high budget that wasn't already popular before the movie will only lose money. That and the internet is some form of bandwagon critic that everyone jumps on to shit about the stupidest things.
Yea that's the part I don't understand about horror movies or games. Let's take Dead space, the first two-game gave a good horror vibe but once the third game came out. It wasn't really capable of doing it simply because the player and the characters throughout the stories have already experienced the same conflict and horror that previously happen. Basically it "eh same shit different day".
Agreed. I think this is actually a top 10 sci-fi movie of all time. Brilliantly creative. And I love the screenplay.

I thought this movie was a huge step in the right direction. The video game too. I liked Riddick(the third movie) alright, but trying to go back to the horror roots was a step backwards. I'm sure it was the safer option and the one that allowed the movie to happen at all, but not enough for people who truly loved both the character, and universe he lived in. I'd actually rather see more books and animations that expand upon universe than more movies like Riddick if budget is the thing holding them back.

Shes a woman. They always get in the way. Best not to have them at all. Look at Lord of the Rings trilogy, so few women, such great movies.

Vin did such a great job with his character in this movie. he really perfected Riddicks bad assness compared to the first movie.

I love how it's fine to watch a guy get brutally murdered by ramming jagged metal into his chest, but saying or spelling the word "ass" is just too much for the advertisers. What a weird country we live in. Great movie though.

I loved Kyra's character.
He clearly no-clipped through the walls and found the room with all of the broken dev. weapons and items that have unlimited damage values for testing. That cup probably has an angry Daedra trapped in it.

We need more Riddick movies !
Riddick is legit one of my favorite characters of all time, he's so badass it just oozes out of him. I'm probably one of very few who thinks Vin did this role better than Dominic, even though Like the first few Fast movies as well. Chronicles isn't as good as Pitch Black and Riddick 3 was pretty much a weird and kinda boring remake of Pitch Black instead of a real new movie. The games though are both awesome, and Vin voices the games as well, so you just know he really cares about the character.
Before John Wick, there was Jason Bourne. Before Jason Bourne, there was Riddick - through out all time there will always be Batman lol

This movie is underrated. The action in this was done well. They kept the suspension of disbelief going. The sequel, which I still liked but not as much, got too silly with several of its action scenes.

Nah! That prison is basically like a hole in the ground with no way out and doesn’t require typical prison guards (on a planet that’s known for it’s insanely hot temperatures)! Those metal cups are probably a dime a dozen down there simply because they are the only type of drinking utensils that can survive that environment!
@@Bacnow That's what makes it expensive. ANYTHING that can be had would not have been easy to get and maybe provided by the guards just once and that's it. It's not a place that's going to get regular shipments of supplies.
Idk bout the rest of you but I want movie after movie after movie with the two of them. I loved watching the fact that she knew who he was and he knew she knew. And they were both ok with that.

I could get mad and say DAMN IT or GOD DAMN IT or I could look at something and go Damn that's interesting or damn that sucks. Their more to the word damn then just curseing.
