On short vacations - say 4 days - non stop flights are imperative. I used to fly out of Baltimore at 8:15am Thursday and be in Montego Bay, Jamaica by 11:25am. Carry on only. One time I was checked into the hotel and in the ocean by noon. The flight going back was at 5:30pm Sunday night. I was back home by 10pm. I was lucky that I could arrange my 2 days off of one week (Thursday/Friday) to be adjacent to my 2 days off of the following week (Saturday/Sunday). That way I use no vacation or personal days - just scheduling. But I did have to work 10 days in a row on the back end. Over the course of a few years I made 17 trips to Montego Bay, mostly in the winter. I found inexpensive hotels on the water to stay at and by the end the locals knew me.

Great video, y'all! We have found that my husband's company allows him to swap a day near a company day off. Meaning, say we want to travel the week after labor day to avoid the crowds and get lower prices. He can work on labor day, and then use that holiday a week later. Boom, one day fewer of pto usage. =)

Perfect tips. One thing that’s helped Trae and me is to also alternate vacation times with family. Not all of our trips are with the whole family, but we try to be as even as possible with both sides of the family.

All excellent tips, especially maximizing compay observance times as well as stacking time off. Work Workcations are a brilliant way to utilize what you are given by your employer like hotel and food allowance to add-on personal time. I've been able to get the company hotel rate for my extended stay instead of paying a typical price.
