Honestly, this captures what the creative process feels like completely. When it's difficult to connect with one's creativity, it's easy to see it as almost a separate entity from one's self, and almost try to bargain with it to try to get that spark again. But, at the end of the day, it's a part of you and if you don't connect with it, it won't magically do the work for you. At the same time, taking a break and having fun is a great way to do that! I am unsure if that was intended, but that's the vibes I got.
Emma! I am such a lurker and way too shy to usually comment but LOVE your videos. I HAD to make an exception. This was SO GOOD! How did you shoot this in 3 hours?!! It's not just the astounding time constraints though - I love your homage, your concept. I knew you were a puppet person but the design was great and the overall theme just screams Time Piece (1965) to me and I cannot tell you how beautiful it is to see stuff like this coming from you. I love so much of the stuff you do, but the creativity you're showing here is a wonderful little treat to get to see out of you! Thank you so much for sharing!
I just gave my granddaughter your Coming Out video. She’s 13 and recently came out as Bi. She loved it!She told me she has gone through much of the same stuff you did. I think you have two fans for life😊😊
4:02 that look of pure disbelief. 😂 i really liked how puppet emma almost felt like og emmas big sister, even though she has only been alive for a few moments. sure, she has og emmas memories, but the state of being alive and feeling things seems like it has to be much more than "just" memories. oh and i am really glad puppet emma got to stay. while i like og emmas dry humor and *amazing* teeth, i think i prefer puppet emma because her humor even a tad more dry and her nose is so much more boopable. 🤩
I can't tell you how much I love this. Puppetry, creativity, humor, a touch of philosophy, and a whole lot of silliness. I aspire to be a creator like you.
I really enjoyed this! Love the ending, "Do you think she noticed? Nah."! Sometimes you just need what my coworkers and I call a "Mental Health Day". Spend time with yourself, family or friends, accomplishing much while not really accomplishing anything. Every once in a while you need a day with no agenda.
This is so well done. I was laughing my tuchus off the whole time. Normal Emma voice coming from Muppet Emma was incredibly adorable. In an ideal world, I'd want muppet versions of all my favourite RUclipsrs. (Also, and I don't know how, but this comment ended up getting posted on a different video. If they saw it, I'm sure the folks at Spacedock would have been quite confused about all this talk of muppets on a video about mean-looking alien spaceships.)
That was fun, humorous, and insightful! Plus a sneaky peek at what an Emma/Kermit love child would look like. At least we know Matt wouldn't notice anything suspicious. That healthy green glow looks good on you btw. Great stuff👍
thats why we have familys, let go of the self in part by creating a part that can go on and experience things you never could or will. a little half version of you is just what the world needs
This is adorable. Tiny, green, Emma and big, pink, Emma sharing the load is amazing. ❤ ETA: Originally made this comment before finishing watching the video. A beautiful and uplifting video.
Excellent work. That's a lot of video for just 3 hours of shooting at multiple angles. You did great! One tip: When you're working a puppet, move your thumb down inside the head, instead of lifting your fingers up. The goal is to move the bottom jaw down while "speaking" instead of the top of the head going up. It looks more realistic when just the bottom jaw moves. Or mostly just. I could never keep the top part from moving entirely. That's professional level puppet stuff and I only did it for a couple years back in the day. Oh, and thanks for making me think about the meaningless treadmill slog of existence on a Saturday lol
Thank you so much! Green Emma is my first full size puppet and it's so much harder than you'd think 0: I've been tempted by courses a couple times, I really want to improve :3
@@EmmaThorneVideos You did a good job syncing the mouth with the dialogue. That and the lower jaw bits are kind of the first two basics, and they go a long way. Moving both hands with the two rods just takes practice learning to manipulate them with one hand. You can cross the handles in an X shape at the bottom and it gives you better control to move the hands separately. You did a good job of moving the head realistically too. You've probably already done this, but you can get a lot of good ideas on movement and such by watching good performances and noting the less obvious things they do, like how they move when the puppet is walking and such. You're already doing great. Good luck as you keep moving forward!
Came from your Short - Who Am I! It had me thinking of The Rainbow Connection "The Lover's. The Dreamers and Me" I didn't reach that crisis point till I was in my mid to late 30's, trying to provide for a growing family in a dead end job! Such is life! Take care, Emma and Matt! Peace, Love and All Best Wishes from the frozen North! ;)
I like the idea that the clone was made of felt because Emma had more felt lying around than human skin. It opens the door for future Emma-clones to be made out of stone or metal... or FIRE! Yes.
Now I can't stop picturing Emma wanting to go out so she leaves the puppet to cover for her, then her partner there does the same... So the whole night the puppets are hanging out thinking they are with the real one. Meanwhile the real Emma runs into her partner and it turns out they were just both embarrassed to admit they wanted to watch a certain movie or something. Lol
Thank you so much for the reminder:) I loved this so much!!! Please make more if you enjoy doing these because it had me giggling all the way throughout.
This film touches on the inexorable quandary of existence. Using puppets. Green Emma is very wise. And might be a bit sickly sweet, but spending time with yourself is good advice. I go bonkers without it! Love the twist at the end.
Background static noise on the audiotrack: First, always capture silent room, that way you have a noise sample of all the gear and the environment. Then loop it and use that as a filler when you edit. Constant noise is not disturbing, intermittent noise is. Then, if you do want or need to use gate, leave a lot of "floor": do not cut the signal completely but only attenuate it a bit. Again, on/off intermittent noise is worse than slight noise or gradual, subtle noise amplitude modulation, in this case using gate. The first trick is used on the field constantly, it can save the whole scene or even the whole production, 30 seconds noise sample would be great, it prevents looping: we have a pattern recognition supercomputer so it detects.. patterns very easily. True noise is always changing, artificial sample loop repeats. It has to be long enough for our brain to forget something we weren't suppose to pay attention to; our internal cache needs to clear up. Sometimes sound engineering is about mixing just noise. Intermittent noise breaks immersion very well, you are aware you are watching. It is like window opens and closes and we are moved to a different space-time. Two characters, dialogue and cuts back and forth: if the noise changes then they are not present in the same room or at the same time. We do not notice subtle things like constant noise that well, until something changes in that noise. Having just a bit of actual noise, like pink noise that has a gentle hipass filter can be inserted thru the whole piece, and it actually works as a signal when you cut it out when the "The End" text is shown. Audience does not notice it but they will know it is the end and react to it accordingly. It often happens accidentally, like in a movie theater in the past as the noisy optical audio track ended but... no one said you can't use it elsewhere..
Love this …. It’s a great combination of the serious and lighthearted …. Puppet Emma is bloody awesome ….. love how you do all the voices too x This made me smile so much it was just what I needed ….
For some reason, the way you interacted with emmuppet reminded me of low budget childrens shows I watched as a kid in the early 90s lol. Honestly though, I feel like with some rehearsal and time spent on a script, you could come up with something really special. This was truly charming
Knowing that you're going to create a copy of yourself _with your own mind included_ is so freaking dangerous... from existential connotations (especially for the copy) to sheer ease by which conflicts of interest could arise, just for a start lol
Beautifully done Emma, a relaxing, delightful interlude on an otherwise hectic Saturday afternoon. Keep up the excellent work, I'm really enjoying your content. Cheers from southern Ontario, Canada!
That was so great. ❤💚💛 Good acting, puppets were very nice (the yellow one was hysterical), fantastic editing. I like your suffocating schedule of coffee and games. And the title cards had a little bit of a Monty Python vibe 😆.
I really really enjoyed this movie! It's a refreshing change of pace from the usual content, it's amazing the talent and variety on your part. Keep it up!!❤
I hope you’re happy! I’ve become addicted to your voice. I hope you don’t mind that I do all my household chores with you yapping away in the background 😂❤
Brilliant, film, Emma! I have to admit, if it wasn’t for Clone Emma’s superior fashion sense, it would have been a lot more difficult telling the two of you apart. I am looking forward to seeing Clone Emma’s take on some of the crazies you like to discuss.

CGI Emma is so realistic. Great work, green Emma.
A perfect balance between fun and lighthearted and existential crisis lol. I loved this!
The puppet had me in stitches.
I really felt for the character.
You really had a hand in making that work.
Felt!
I was chuckling until I saw this comment and a weird "hiiick" noise came out. Well done and thank you.
Me, myself, and I are all besides ourselves with excitements.
My invisible friends say this is gonna be great and they've rarely let me down with their predictions!
That's great! But what about you!
WILL WOOD REFERENCE??????

This was wonderful, Emma. I'll admit that I teared up a bit, even while smiling, Wise beyond your 28 years.

I love a good puppet show. My city has a small puppet theater that puts on some amazing shows - everyone support your local puppeteers!

You should try making a transmogrifier next. It was invented by this guy named Calvin, I think.

Omg, that was the CUTEST ending 😍 This was done really well. We're all so proud of you Emma!
Reminds me of Laurie Anderson's "what you mean WE?"

The very end where Matt has his own clone made me laugh out loud.
Please do more!
Thanks.

We're thinking the same thing!!!
Awesome and relaxing. That's alot of good between those two! Thanks...
As a fellow puppet maker and puppeteer, I really enjoyed this. Fun.
I love puppets. Used to run a puppet theatre company. Must start writing some new plays again. Thank you for inspiring me Emma 😊❤
This might be so silly but I would absolutely love a mug collection video or Short!!! You seem to have an endless amount of adorable mugs hehe

For such a silly (I mean this in the best way), charming film, you're a better actor than half the actors on Netflix.
I don't like my performance in a lot of this tbh but I wrote the script the night before and there was _no time for retakes_ 😂❤

Wow! Your VFX work shines through! The split screen effect is seamless!
The true curse is that I know myself well enough to understand that this is exactly how it would go, and I've always known.😓

Really cool to see you being involved in this trend. Joel Haver is one of the most important creators on the platform right now imo
He and Trent Lenkarski and Dax Flame and everyone they work with are so incredible. The amount of other creators they've inspired is so wonderful
This was quirky, funny and deep...all at the same time! Great work Emma! 👍

Being born and raised in Hawai'i, and Portuguese, I'm so happy you know the right way to say ukulele.
Six minutes in 6:00 that's deep. I'm 55 and can still relate. Been thinking the same things from time to time for the past 30 years.
I'm 15 years behind you. I understand that feeling.
SO GOOD! Fantastic work, Emma! I'd say that's even better acting than in the Star Trek fan fiction shorts. More, please!

An old 1980's Loverboy reference in there. Gotta love that decade.
just discovered this channel.... how is she not extremely famous? if i could buy stock in her future i would.
Calvin and Hobbes has a few series about him cloning himself. This is just as fun.
