I had to watch this twice because the first time I was just focusing on the amazing score.I couldn’t understand how such a brilliant score was afforded in a low budget short. I then searched IMDB and realised Carl Thiel is an acclaimed composer who has done multiple scores for movies. Well done! Perhaps more composers should write direct their own movies (Chaplain also did it well).
@@cutmasta1, I have to agree that the musical score was outstanding. I found this story intriguing; leaving me wanting more. How many of him were there...at least three, but maybe more. I really wanted this story to go on.
Having hiked the woods behind your house many times before your house was built this was fascinating to me! I kept thinking… run to Carl’s house, you’re only steps away! Wonderful music!!! I loved everything about this. So creative!
DETACHMENT Peter came closer to finding "answers" and "inner guidance" when he lost his Duraflame log, Patagonia winter coat, North Face backpack, electronic music player and cell phone, which detached him from the physical, 3-dimensional realm of spacetime and gave him an expanded perspective. All without dropping acid.
Really enjoyed this Carl. Excellent short that would definitely be interesting in a much longer version. Great cinematography & good acting too, especially since just having one character is tough. Can’t believe you did this in 3 days with no budget.
Excellent . Great acting and just great everything. It really started to draw you in at his watches 7:45 time. From that moment on.... I was 100 % committed ! You leave it open just enough for the viewer to make their own theories of what just happened . Very enjoyable 16+ minutes !
Wow, that was very very clever, very well done, perfect actually. Easily one of the best short films on RUclips. Thank you for sharing such a highly entertaining story. Bravo!
Eu simplesmente ADOREI! Muito divertido e criativo! Fiquei tensa e ri ao mesmo tempo! Parabéns a todos os envolvidos no projeto! Esse é o tipo de criatividade que queremos ver, quanto expectadores, nas grandes telas de cinema.
Lots of nice touches in this short. I especially liked the squirrel. One time when I was deer hunting, from under a tree, a squirrel spoke to me for like 20 minutes. I have no idea what it was saying, but it was still a form of companionship. Never did see a deer, though.
I enjoyed this Carl.... thoughtful, personal & very well done with basic materials, but with lots of talent. Thank you for the needed distraction from my own deadlines 💥🔥👌🏾🤗
Superb. Didn't understand the two edits of the skull, but it makes sense now. I especially liked the sound and music. Seamless perfection to the final death knell.
Good video. Has a lot of symbolism. Reminds me of the show “The Good Place”. A chance to repeat until you find what you are looking for or go forward to find something new and unexpected. That’s my take on it. Also Groundhogs day with Bill Murray
Fun fact: I used to help raise orphaned squirrels, and that squirrel chatter (plus the tail flicking) is often their “this is my territory…go away” signal, typically aimed at other squirrels of the same gender.
It's really this a solid short. It's got a bit of mystery, a bit of suspense, a good score & it all works together well. Great job considering a low budget only a few days to shoot it.
WOW, That was one heck of cosmic ride . Great work on this it had all the atmosphere needed to make is disturbing yet enthralling & mysterious . You read many things into this which makes it so good & strange . Awesome effects & those great little things like the Robin & Squirrel , funny they seemed to know the deal but he did not get it . Very cool ending & very lovecraftian in it's subtleties. It was good thing he was to dumb to set his tent up less this would have really been a short short. Loved it !!! 🌚
I do get the feeling that your film was watching me as I sat looking at its thought sequencing - the juxtaposition of the cognitive dissonance flux capacitator. --- the jawbone --- the solution to the eventual ending of the Mobius manifestation. ----- This was very brilliantly done - and I wish you success in all your future incantations in the lands of consciousness. However, varied they be.
Well done my friend , thought there for a second that it was a toxic carbon dead pond with the Bone's [ or was it a death loop lol Carl Thiel ] Thank You Love.
A film well done! Maybe DISPLACED is what happens to people who disappear in our national parks. Maybe for some they enter into a causality loop and are predestined for these events to play out. Thank you for creating this fine work.
Predictable but very well done, especially on such a small budget. Though variations of this story have been done countless times before, I'd like to this fleshed out a bit more. Maybe not feature-length, but who knows? If done right, it could certainly work.
Excellent short film. I could see it being continued in some way. Maybe in a way where the displacement comes by different means. Either way, it's great as it is. Good work.
When he started the whole "Are you talkin' to ME??!!" shtick all that I could think of was 'DIE!!!' When the whole 'time loop' became actual, well now, there's another thing.
The squirrel deserves its own IMDB.
The argument with the squirrel is delightful, particularly because I've met squirrels like that one.
One thing's for certain: I can't run from myself. Where ever I go, there I am.

This was short but certainly gripped my attention. That meteorite would have been worth a fortune.
The wilhelm scream!!! LOL awesome
nice little flick!

Aaaooahhh!!! 😂

@@cutmasta1 I really liked your film! I'll be thinking about this for a long time! Really cool film
One of the best concepts I've seen. I would love to see this continued, slowly explaining the phenomena.
I usually have no patience for time travel stories, but this one is very well done.
Glad this one worked for you!
DETACHMENT

Detachment indeed...
Yet ...the book stole the show.voilently displaced & simultaneously forewarned...! Beautiful indeed.
He should have had a hat, and a towel.
Gum trees everywhere Except for the Squirrel shot 😅
What a pleasant video. Very well done.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The time loop reminded me of Dark series. Well made tension, dialogue, cinematography and soundtrack.
This is an awesome production,, I especially love the supporting music

What the f*k, Carl. This is truly mind bending. Stuck in a mobius loop. Wow. Thanks for the mind-blast.
You're welcome! 👍🏼
Great story! Love the Wilhelm scream you snuck in there. 👍

Simply magic... a tiny precious piece of art. Thank you so much for sharing...

Nice, didn't expect the "find yourself" advice to be taken literally
Also didn't expect this to turn into an infinity loop

The ending, wow, what a twist there!!!!!😮😮 Amazing... Or the squel 😮😊😊
🟦.... I dig the squirrel chuttering at the very end.
a little reward for watching all the way to the end ;)
Astral trip coming back to reality big headache or pounding heart.
This loop is short and worst than Groundhog Day. It is hell reliving a short 5 minutes over and over again.
Good Story, well done. Liked it a lot!
Good work Carl, great soothing score, light tabla enhances the scenes where motion is shown, subscribed and liked. Please continue enthralling us.
That aerial shot at the last looks like the region near Gaspe. Beautiful area.
throughly enjoyed this film!

Interesting story. Thought provoking. Well done. I'll be thinking of this film for some time. Hope it don't keep me awake too much. lol.

We have free will because we can's see more than the moment we live in.
Rivetting filming and music plus great acting. Wanted to know what happens next.
