- "At a low point in his life, urbanite Peter Sabik goes on a solo camping trip in hopes of finding inner guidance, only to discover a mysterious message which sets him off on an extraordinary adventure defying the laws of time and space."
________________
It was the middle of the pandemic and our plans for the year had gone out the window. So there we were, with unexpected extra time on our hands. Knowing that I’d been using the pandemic to focus on script writing, my friend and actor Taylor C. Wallace reached out and said: “if you wanna write a short, just for fun, I’d love to act in it.” And so the wheels started turning. The challenge was to write a compelling story that could be realized completely outdoors (covid safe), with a single actor, no budget, no crew and only 3 days to shoot (that was the time window we had for various reasons). Sometimes restrictions bring out the best in creativity.
Shortly after I'd finished the script, we reached out to cinematographer Karl Toft, who cheerfully and generously joined the project. The three of us have known each other for years but we’d never had the opportunity to work together. I can honestly say those three days of filming were the most fun I’ve had in a long time.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it!

One thing's for certain: I can't run from myself. Where ever I go, there I am.
The squirrel deserves its own IMDB.
The argument with the squirrel is delightful, particularly because I've met squirrels like that one.
I had to watch this twice because the first time I was just focusing on the amazing score.I couldn’t understand how such a brilliant score was afforded in a low budget short. I then searched IMDB and realised Carl Thiel is an acclaimed composer who has done multiple scores for movies. Well done! Perhaps more composers should write direct their own movies (Chaplain also did it well).
Glad you liked the music! 🎥🎶
@@cutmasta1 Well done!
@@cutmasta1 What's the Biggest movie you worked on ?
@@cutmasta1, I have to agree that the musical score was outstanding. I found this story intriguing; leaving me wanting more. How many of him were there...at least three, but maybe more. I really wanted this story to go on.
Having hiked the woods behind your house many times before your house was built this was fascinating to me! I kept thinking… run to Carl’s house, you’re only steps away! Wonderful music!!! I loved everything about this. So creative!
Thank you Cheryl!
@@cutmasta1 I really liked your film! I'll be thinking about this for a long time! Really cool film
The wilhelm scream!!! LOL awesome
nice little flick!
😁 Thanks!
Aaaooahhh!!! 😂
I usually have no patience for time travel stories, but this one is very well done.
Glad this one worked for you!
This was short but certainly gripped my attention. That meteorite would have been worth a fortune.
I came to comment half expecting my comment would already be written.... Fantastic piece, well done you 💜
Hehe... it worked ;) And thank you!
This is an awesome production,, I especially love the supporting music
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)
DETACHMENT
Peter came closer to finding "answers" and "inner guidance" when he lost his Duraflame log, Patagonia winter coat, North Face backpack, electronic music player and cell phone, which detached him from the physical, 3-dimensional realm of spacetime and gave him an expanded perspective. All without dropping acid.
Detachment indeed...
Yet ...the book stole the show.voilently displaced & simultaneously forewarned...! Beautiful indeed.
Really enjoyed this Carl. Excellent short that would definitely be interesting in a much longer version. Great cinematography & good acting too, especially since just having one character is tough. Can’t believe you did this in 3 days with no budget.
So glad you enjoyed it!
Nice, didn't expect the "find yourself" advice to be taken literally
Also didn't expect this to turn into an infinity loop
Mr. carry your Hell Ass home u are ďrive in me Crazy. thank U.
Daamn i was gonna write this joke! :)
That was so trippy imagine being trapped in a loop like that for eternity awesome work really enjoyed this
Glad you enjoyed it!
Well.............he found himself..
Eu simplesmente ADOREI!
Awesome movie! Great music (as always) 👏
Thank you Chris! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Well done Carl. I've always had a soft spot for time displacement type stories. I too had to chuckle a bit regarding the duraflame log...
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great story! Love the Wilhelm scream you snuck in there. 👍
Thank you!
What the f*k, Carl. This is truly mind bending. Stuck in a mobius loop. Wow. Thanks for the mind-blast.
You're welcome! 👍🏼
Great story and videography. Also,, the music was spot on.
Much appreciated!
Excellent short!! Bravo & well done !! Gratitude🙏💙
This inspires me to keep on going!!

Thank you! Glad you found it inspiring!
Wow, that was very very clever, very well done, perfect actually. Easily one of the best short films on RUclips. Thank you for sharing such a highly entertaining story. Bravo!
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it :)
this felt like an old goosebumps / tales from the crypt episode... loved it
Glad you liked it!
I do get the feeling that your film was watching me as I sat looking at its thought sequencing - the juxtaposition of the cognitive dissonance flux capacitator. --- the jawbone --- the solution to the eventual ending of the Mobius manifestation. ----- This was very brilliantly done - and I wish you success in all your future incantations in the lands of consciousness. However, varied they be.
Thank you!
Wow an instant campfire 🔥
Right??
I enjoyed this Carl.... thoughtful, personal & very well done with basic materials, but with lots of talent. Thank you for the needed distraction from my own deadlines 💥🔥👌🏾🤗
Glad you enjoyed!

Thank you for the kind words!
The ending, wow, what a twist there!!!!!😮😮 Amazing... Or the squel 😮😊😊
Time is a Construct.
We have free will because we can's see more than the moment we live in.
The time loop reminded me of Dark series. Well made tension, dialogue, cinematography and soundtrack.
What a pleasant video. Very well done.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent film. Great convergence of the ordinary and the unfathomable. Very well made! Love it
Thank you!
Great story and film. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
🟦.... I dig the squirrel chuttering at the very end.
a little reward for watching all the way to the end ;)
Un bon sujet ,bien traité . Un bon film .
Merci beaucoup!
This loop is short and worst than Groundhog Day. It is hell reliving a short 5 minutes over and over again.
Pretty darn good!
Thank you!
Rivetting filming and music plus great acting. Wanted to know what happens next.
So glad you enjoyed it!
throughly enjoyed this film!
Glad you enjoyed it!
A Duraflame log really LOL. Very nice score. Movie was short but it was good. Thank you.
Gum trees everywhere Except for the Squirrel shot 😅
Well done my friend , thought there for a second that it was a toxic carbon dead pond with the Bone's [ or was it a death loop lol Carl Thiel ] Thank You Love.
Excellent . Great acting and just great everything. It really started to draw you in at his watches 7:45 time. From that moment on.... I was 100 % committed ! You leave it open just enough for the viewer to make their own theories of what just happened . Very enjoyable 16+ minutes !
So glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!
Super super.
I'm looking forward to many more episodes 💯
Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant!!! Want more!!!! More...more...really well portraid ..good stuff

"...but one things for certain" **** ah, man!!! Well done.
Thanks!
Superb. Didn't understand the two edits of the skull, but it makes sense now.
I especially liked the sound and music. Seamless perfection to the final death knell.
Interesting story. Thought provoking. Well done. I'll be thinking of this film for some time. Hope it don't keep me awake too much. lol.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very good film worth watching well done
OMG. Why doesn't he use his book mark?
WOW, That was one heck of cosmic ride . Great work on this it had all the atmosphere needed to make is disturbing yet enthralling & mysterious . You read many things into this which makes it so good & strange . Awesome effects & those great little things like the Robin & Squirrel , funny they seemed to know the deal but he did not get it . Very cool ending & very lovecraftian in it's subtleties. It was good thing he was to dumb to set his tent up less this would have really been a short short. Loved it !!! 🌚
So glad you enjoyed it!
Well done Carl. Lchaim. To life.
Thanks!
Wonderful absolutly amazing thank you.
Thank you!
The squirrel altercation is funny
Gotta love the squirrel 🐿😀
@@cutmasta1 it was hilarious!
Great performance, Taylor! Very compelling. 🙌🏼
Taylor did great!
super duper genius stuff ! congrats :)
Thank you!
Ok . . . that was good. Really good.
Thank you!
Weird, but very good.
Oh, well done! ❤
Thank you! 😊
When he started the whole "Are you talkin' to ME??!!" shtick all that I could think of was 'DIE!!!' When the whole 'time loop' became actual, well now, there's another thing.
A film well done! Maybe DISPLACED is what happens to people who disappear in our national parks. Maybe for some they enter into a causality loop and are predestined for these events to play out. Thank you for creating this fine work.
Maybe that's what happens... we'll never know. 😉 Glad you enjoyed it!
Has it all been written before us? We might just be retreading steps we’ve taken before marching towards our own inevitable demise ahhh good times ❤
That might just be the case... (thanks for watching!)
So, since there's creative thinking here, perhaps the readers/commenters will at least entertain the thought of astrology here? Especially Vedic Astrology, originating from India ? Some aspects of it are so perplexing I don't know whether to do anything about my situation or just let it be !?!
That aerial shot at the last looks like the region near Gaspe. Beautiful area.
It's really this a solid short. It's got a bit of mystery, a bit of suspense, a good score & it all works together well. Great job considering a low budget only a few days to shoot it.
Thank you!
Good video. Has a lot of symbolism. Reminds me of the show “The Good Place”. A chance to repeat until you find what you are looking for or go forward to find something new and unexpected. That’s my take on it. Also Groundhogs day with Bill Murray
Loved it!
Thank you!
Well, guess he found himself!
i liked this a lot. Good job!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Well that was and has to be one of the best film creations I have ever seen. Great acting ,great storyline just hit the right spot.
Thank you so much for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed it!
I think my instinct would have been to go back to my car and get the heck outta there! LOL!
Interesting.
The chances of this happening
are one in a quadzillion.
Thank you for the viewpoint.
Original and interesting sci-fi
I wish I had a diary that wrote itself, it'd save me a lot of laborious writing. Maybe a ...ghost...writer? Shouldn't have eaten those wild mushrooms.
Good work Carl, great soothing score, light tabla enhances the scenes where motion is shown, subscribed and liked. Please continue enthralling us.
Excellent thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
SUPER SMART.
Thank you!
Excellent.
Thanks!
Lots of nice touches in this short. I especially liked the squirrel. One time when I was deer hunting, from under a tree, a squirrel spoke to me for like 20 minutes. I have no idea what it was saying, but it was still a form of companionship. Never did see a deer, though.
Glad you enjoyed it. The squirrel was a fun bit to do. I've had squirrels talk to me as well, so I thought it be a cool thing to incorporate.
Very well done! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very well done.
Thank you!
Well done. Brilliant summarization of Einstein quote.
Thank you!
This is so cool! I wish it was longer.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really good one !
Thanks a lot!
Great story and well shot video. Enjoyed it.
Thank you!
This was brilliant.
Thank you!
Predictable but very well done, especially on such a small budget. Though variations of this story have been done countless times before, I'd like to this fleshed out a bit more. Maybe not feature-length, but who knows? If done right, it could certainly work.
That was a great show! Thanks, hope I don't run into myself in the woods around my place!
Glad you liked it!
great job!
Thank you!
Welcome to watch new movie
For me it had something to do with what happens at the moment of death. Thank you for this thought inspiring short.
Glad you enjoyed it!
