Thank you all for being here for all these years! My true hope is that morgandrinkscoffee.com can be a useful resource and I’m so glad to finally have it back up.
Couple of things: • Congrats on the new website! • Feels weird being this early to a video. • Gotta love the juxtaposition here: "There's my immersion blender, some of the coffees from the Costco video, _a particle analyzer_ , some ice molds..."
I always assumed it was a room in your house. Congrats on having a full studio/office setup! Are there any Arabic or Turkish coffee videos in our future? I would love to learn more about them.
Definitely, I actually recently picked up an Ibrik for that exact reason. Those types of videos always take a bit longer to develop just because I want to make sure I’ve fully grasped the technique and history
I recently went to your old workplace! It wasn’t because of you, but I was DELIGHTED when I put 2 and 2 together and recognized the location. My bff and I have been talking about doing a West Coast trip since middle school (we’re in our 30s now), and when we finally took action on it, she tasked me with finding the best places to eat. I broke it down by category, and selected three spots per category. Keeper was at the top of my “coffee” simply because it sounded like a dope place to go - I was right! You ARE the reason that I chose an oat milk latte. And it WAS a sublime experience. Decisions are hard for me. Thank you for making that one easy. Big fan.
Fun swivel chair trick: make sure you have plenty of space around you and spin quickly with your limbs extended out, and then pull them back in towards you. It decreases your moment of inertia (basically, mass closer to the center of rotation doesn't "count" as much), so you'll spin faster!
8:07 not sure when the change was, maybe in the last 12 months? The quality has really stepped up! Not sure if it’s a tweak in the settings or lighting but yeah the videos/shorts have been looking ace!
I love that you did this video! And sharing your thoughts (both the shorter and longer versions) about still enjoying "regular" coffees was so...comforting? And refreshing. Love you and the spaces you curate online and IRL! 💛
Saying you only judge coffees that you prepare yourself really resonated with me. I’m an artist, I’m never satisfied with my work, and I say mean things to my art 😂 But that overly-critical thought process is just my inner demon lol. It has no interest in other people’s art. It makes me sad when people are nervous to show me their art or, even worse, say they should give up because they feel like they’re not as good as me. I never think badly of them though! I’m honored by anyone who shares with me because I know how hard it is to put your creations out there. And I’ve taken enough art history classes to learn how to appreciate even splashes of paint on canvas 😂 Artist, baristas, and anyone who specializes in sensory experiences should be able to appreciate something about anything someone else makes I know some people are going to think that sounds loony 😂 But I’m not saying you have to love every piece of art and every cup of coffee. Sometimes the thing I appreciate about an artwork is how it made me feel such intense hate in seconds flat 😂 Okay I feel like I’m losing the plot here on how that connects to coffee lol. But sometimes the thing you appreciate most is that someone else made it for you 😌
No, it makes sense! (Of course I’m an artist and sometimes writer, soooo you are kind of speaking my language.) Say Morgan has a cup of coffee at 35,000 feet. She may HATE it, but be amazed they were able to brew it in such a way that she can taste the really salty notes to know she hates it, because our tastebuds are sort of paralyzed when we fly. Or maybe a cup of plane coffee has a particular nostalgia because it’s what she drinks every time she’s going to her favorite place. It’s not necessarily just about the coffee, because - especially for her expertise and talent - the experience of drinking coffee is more than just the literal preparation of that coffee.
4:05 the first coffee that made me think: wooow that’s really special, was a lime note coffee. I received the bag in my house (it was a coffee subscription, but I never sensed any special notes in their coffee before) and I read in the coffee’s description that it smelled as lime. I thought: bs. It’s coffee, not lime. When I open the bag, it was like PURE lime smell in the best way possible. I was SO excited and ready to feel the smell of one thousand of other coffees. That moment is truly amazing.
Wow, I'm so happy for you and also happy I got a chance to go to the shop to see you last summer before you stopped working barista shifts. You were excellent and really seemed in your element. Wish you all the best.
I feel you on the cafe. I have several hobbies in which I make something for which people would pay money. But *running a business* is a skill I lack, and which calls for a level of energy and time commitment beyond what I'm willing to offer.
Also, sometimes it’s nice just to have a hobby and not worry about monetizing something. I just expanded one of my skills to crochet and everyone wants me to sell the amigurumi I’ve been making. 🙄 It’s flattering people like it, but also it would be nice if people could just appreciate it for what it is, and not “help me justify” what I’m doing by monetizing it, like that’s the only thing that counts.
I totally relate about protecting my wedding ring and also the sensory side of wearing it! I bought a few silicone bands online and wear those daily because they're so comfy, I just switch to my real ring when we're going out or dressed up.
Thanks for the tour! I don’t know if you’ve already made one, but would you consider making a decaf coffee video? I love the idea of being able to drink coffee without the downsides of too much caffeine, but I can’t find any that I like.
Morgan, I'm one of your fans from here in Asia. I am a coffee enthusiast and I appreciate how you make coffee and coffee-brewing so accessible. I do hope that you open a cafe one day. I'd fly all the way to the States for that!
That's a lovely studio! And congrats on the website, I really like the menu section. It would be handy to have links to the videos from the recipes as well. I was a little bit disappointed to see random coffee items in the shop section instead of Morgan's personalized stuff/merch.
I've watched you for a long time! I'm happy to see all your growth and excited for everything in the future. The website is great too (tempted to try the new strawberry latte)
Regarding the "normal" coffee question it's my long held belief that true enjoyers of anything will enjoy all tiers of it. Good pizza ruined me for cheap pizza, but I don't love pizza so that tracks. But all tiers of coffee, bourbon, and cheeseburgers make me happy and those are things I do love.
Looking forward to watching the Rancilio Silva Pro X vs Marzocco Micra comparison. They are the two machines I've been eyeing for sometime for an at home setup.
Idk if you will see this but I too used to kill all my plants. Then for a job I had to buy plants that wouldnt die fast (cause noone was in the office during 2020) and I found some good ones. My favs were air plants, money tree, bromeliads, succulents, pothos ivy, spider plant, rubber tree and my absolute fav is the zz plant. Hope this helps :)
Hi, Morgan! Soooo excited for you. I’ve been following your content for a couple of years now. Did you know there’s a bunch of FB accts impersonating you AND accts that solely post your content but the profile isn’t under your name? It’s super frustrating to know there’s folks profiting off your content.
6:14, I remember James Hoffman had a video about drinking coffee. He basically says that one should enjoy coffee whether its good or bad. If you only ever taste good coffee then there's no fun in that. Or something like that.
This was fun! Thanks for sharing. It is good to see someone who has as much, if not more, ways to make coffee than me.😊 I am not a pro, like you, just addicted to a good cup of coffee. I really enjoy your show.
I mostly agree on the "normal" coffee thing, however, I have changed. I am not willing to pay 3-5 Euros for a sub-par cappuccino, if I can get a much better one for 50 cents from my setup. With that being said, I still get a coffee to go here and there and like you said, adjust my expectations accordingly.
I love your studio space! It's so cute but functional! I also love decaf, because coffee is delicious but my body can only handle so much caffeine 😅 I need to look into this winning decaf!
One thing I didn't see covered - what machine sits behind you in the corner, it looks to be a Lelit Bianca maybe? If anyone can confirm... It's a great looking machine. It's no La Marzocco Linea, but at least somewhat more affordable... lol
The "set" looks like a home kitchen, how about a second set that resembles a shop setting. Could do recipe breakdowns for new baristas/ professional tips and tricks.
I know the actor who plays Young Sheldon, Iain Armitage. I met him when he was 7 doing theatre reviews online at a show and became friendly with his parents. He is an absolutely fantastic young man, so I think you could do a lot worse than looking like him!
Besides it being really cute, do you keep your hair short because of sensory reasons? That's why I keep mine short. Oh, and I suggest a silicone ring. I've been using one for a few years and it's great. I barely notice it and it's no big deal if it gets messed up (though it seems fairly indestructible).

Speaking of blueberry bombs, I've been into roasting and brewing my family coffee for some time, and I've found it difficult to find any coffees from Ethiopia or elsewhere that really has a blueberry-forward flavor profile. Did something happen in the coffee world that has reduced that specific flavor component in the coffee that's available? I really enjoy coffees with fruity tones and find it's easier to find darker fruit or bright citrus notes, but no blueberry.
“This part is a little less exciting”?! Bite your tongue! I’d spend quite a long time looking at everything on those shelves if I could, likely pestering you with questions while I’m at it. 😂
Speaking of pranking into eating a used puck, this happened at a coffee house my friends and I used to visit; they dressed the grounds up in whipped cream and made it look like a really nice chocolate cake. I think my friends and I were suspicious because it was 'free'... we figured it out before anyone ate a forkful.
On your site if you press shop all from the top left menu you get 17 products but if you press shop in the bottom menu bar you get 23. Also I’m there’s discrepancies in the submenus. Just a heads up
Would you be interested in doing a video for smaller brewing methods? I own a 12oz french press and I would love to know how to make a good cup of coffee with it. thank you! :)
RE: “do you still enjoy ‘normal’ coffee?” - I almost feel like they’re two different things. A light roast single origin v60 and the medium-dark batch at your neighborhood breakfast spot have so little in common, taste wise.
Apologies if this has been answered before, but I’ve always had my coffee with cream and sugar. What’s the easiest entry point to start trying/enjoying black coffee? Love your videos!❤
If you’re used to sweetened drinks, black coffee can be more of an acquired taste but it’s 100% worth it. I would set yourself up for success by going to a nice cafe and having a cup of black coffee that they’ve prepared. Or, alternatively, begin decreasing the amount of milk and sugar you add until you get down to black coffee.
I do see the similarity to Young Sheldon! 😂 Secondly, I drink Americanos every morning because they’re easy! And I like them! But I need to branch out more, I guess… 😉
Make coffee. Dissolve lots of sugar into it. Let the water dissolve and the sugar precipitate out. Use the resulting sugar in your cotton candy machine.
I was just wondering why you never talked about this year’s barista championship…? The last one, you made a vlog and some TikTok’s and it was neat to see that world and also your success. Is there a reason you didn’t do that this year?
I really needed to focus this year and it’s super hard to split time between creating content and competing. I did a pretty extensive write up on competition here though: morgandrinkscoffee.com/blogs/journal-1/a-barista-championship-retrospective
I am the EXACT same way with my wedding ring. It's a nice thing every once in a while, especially while dressing up for events. But really, my partner and I are totally fine without.
Wow, maybe I've just had some mediocre filter coffee, but 9 times out of 10 I prefer an americano. They always seem to have a richness (I don't know if there's an exact word) to them that filter coffee never quite satisfies.
Thank you all for being here for all these years! My true hope is that morgandrinkscoffee.com can be a useful resource and I’m so glad to finally have it back up.
LOVE the look of the site! It's amazing!
Love the site! Quick note: on one of your slides the word Championship of "Barista Championship Retrospective" is very hard to see.
The "normal coffee" question reminds me of the time James said he went into a cafe and the barista said "oh no, it's you" and ran away

I don't even drink coffee and I'm excited for this.
i love your little MOOka pot 🐮🤍
What coffee grinder is pictured behind Morgan in this video? I checked the website but didnt see her recommendation listed!
Much love!
Looks like the Mahlkönig X54
@@onyx2856thank you very much!

If I could live on a barista’s salary I would go back
I am the EXACT same way with my wedding ring.
Imagine just finding out Morgan is your neighbor
Hi, Morgan!
