    Finally the Truth of What it means to be a reseller. THE TRUTH IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE!. Thanks for keeping it real brother. I do love being a reseller and would not go back to working for someone else but it does take a certain type of person and its not all Glamorous like it seems on the youtube's. It does have its good times and those are worth more than any punch in punch out job.

    Wow! I’ve been watching a lot of your videos lately. Very entertaining, and learning a bit about the realities of treasure hunting. It makes sense that a lot of the work is the research and figuring out the best way to describe it so people feel comfortable purchasing it. Thanks for putting the video together, I know there’s a lot of work in it👍

    I have been a full time teacher part time seller/picker for 40 years… I started picking when I was 10 years old with my father… I have so much time off in the summer I become full time each summer… My father was an engineer and built roads (interstate highways) for a living, but he ran an auction house on the weekends… I learned everything I know from him… I could go full time time if I wanted to, but teaching and reselling part time is the perfect combination for me… I teach in Alexandria Va and the pay and benefits are the best in the State of Virginia… The money that I make part time is just bonus money for me… Doing this part time I, make about $1000-$2000 profit each month… I have great places/resources up here to find items… Plus I am a generalized picker… I have a little bit of knowledge on a wide variety of items… Funny you should mention paintings…I just found a rare painting last week… I paid $600 for the painting and I sold it for $4800… This doesn’t happen every day but my point is that these finds are out there if you have the knowledge… I take a different eBay category each week (ie ink pens) and I learn what’s selling and for how much… Knowledge is money in this game…

    Wow!! Thanks fir the “sell similar” tip. I always use that as a template for new listings, but this is a great idea for things that sit. I’m a 35 years eBay seller and can get really discouraged with all the changes they’ve done that have ruined so many things… like changing the sold item time we can look back. I remember being able to look back at sold items for up to 10 years!! Those were the days.
    Anyway, God bless.

    Sometimes you just need to look around the house, might stumble on things you just don't need anymore... or neighbors friends relatives or downsizing, happy to pass off those items many times... as for boxes I have several neighbors that regularly just leave all those tiny weird shaped boxes by my front door... a lot of things that are small & fragile I just package up front , they're ready to go I know exactly what they weigh , especially for mercari first class excellent instead of having to buy huge amounts.. they have a dedicated inventory location, I may write a small description on the outside of the box.... I also have a paper tape, which will cover much advertising, everything goes in a poly bag, that's boxed, no need to have something get destroyed by the weather... in Los Angeles USPS does a wonderful job... picked up or dropped off during the day, hits the central processing center in Bell California, on a plane or truck in the middle of the night...
    Distinctive packaging does help...

    What if we send a letter size envelope with say,post cards on it, and use forever stamp, but we know the item weighs a little more postage than a normal letter? Do we just put an extra stamp on it.
    Rabbit stamps??? Non-machinable? Wow. Never heard of it. Thanks!!
    Wait, you said send first class in small folding priority mail box. Was that a boo boo?
    Ploy bags are great for yarn! tools go well in flat rate boxes.
    Dumpsters from lean places like book stores have loads of bubble wrap in the dumpster.

    • @RustyTheReseller
      @RustyTheReseller  Год назад

      I will sometimes use small priority boxes, but put a poly bag over it so that you can't see that is is labelled as a priority box. Yes, if something is slightly heavier than the normal letter, you can put an extra stamp on it and it is fine, provided it's not super heavy....

    We claim the mileage to and from the post office as well as to yard sales and thrift stores on our taxes, so we go to the post office, another benefit is that you can get a receipt to show that you've given it to them. We feel more confident with that receipt.

      is it worth it? it always depends on the price. Garnet is pretty distinct in that it is always a darker red color. Sometimes it can be confused with Ruby bu is generally one of the lower value gemstones.

      I had almost no funds to speak of when I started this. You get one thing, flip it, and repeat. Save some back so you can buy 2 things next time, or on something more expensive that will make you more. Do it over and over again, always saving some back....We have done this for years. Some people start with a good plan and a loan. We did not. It was very hard for a long time, but it gets easier...

    I've been a reseller for 6 months, 1 month full time, in Des Moines, Iowa. It's nearly impossible for me to find anything and still make a profit. I have had to develop relationships with the pickers who supply thrift stores and travel the country and buy it off them, because everyone is paying retail at estate sales in this state. It's unreal. People are paying $25 for trays with 18 buttons and some yarn in them. I can't even pick the buttons.....................
