17:38 I usually eat quite a bit. On my last trip I came home with a good amount of food, because when I was super tired I lost my appetite. Also it was super cold so my jaw was aching from chewing frozen snack bars and frozen almonds.
I did this hike and ascent as a teen in five days. Back then there wasn’t an limits in any place in the Three Sisters Wilderness accept in the Obsidian Falls area.
Can't tell you how many times I watched these Three Sisters videos before I conquered the loop myself last week. Found them really helpful (and also helped me get super excited for my trip). Thanks for the content!! :)
Cool video. Love the area. The numbers that USED to summit South Sister was more like thousands a day. The forest department was forced to create a permit system. The highway was a wreck with vehicles on the shoulders for miles. There was too much human waste on the trails. It was awful to be honest. Now you have to be smart to get a permit, but you can get one. I do it every summer by thinking ahead. Again, enjoyable video.
Dude...sweet video. Knocked out the Broken Top Loop last October 2018 and that area is breathtaking. PCT side of the Sisters range looks awesome as well. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Great video, Bryce. I haven’t had Tang since I was a kid in Maryland. Now I’m going to have to find it to add to my water to try your ’Tang-Nuun Bomb’. It sounds delicious. I’m working my way through the Three Sisters playlist, then the Timberline series. Cheers! BJ
@@BryceNewbold They’re definitely older videos, but still make for great content. I enjoyed watching them. Your attitude wasn’t bad. The trails you were on are not easy ’walks in the park’. They were impressive as heck. The views were phenomenal. Even the camp you ended up with for the first night… the steep climb to it may have been less than ideal, but it was a sweet campsite. Killer views.
@@BryceNewbold I’m headed to the Mt Whitney portal this summer to summit some of the less popular peaks. I’m super juiced from all the trail footage from you and the SBO bros!!
Loved your video. My very first ever backpacking trip was to Green and Moraine Lakes a few years ago at 50+. I remember seeing the tons of people on the trail and worried about a campsite, but most were dayhikers. I'm still moving around on the trails out here on the West Coast as I live in the Sierra's, but this area in Oregon is still one of my favs and can't wait to do more. Thanks for sharing. That Helinox chair is looking better and better to me.
Woohoo! Congratulations on getting out there! You're doing great. But beware - hiking in the PNW is totally addictive. I can't wait for the next episode!
Whose hating you on the penny can? Tellum to frigoff! When I want to push a anything beyond 15 per day, the Minimo (heavy bastard) stays at home and that comes with! And agreed on the real food... I try to keep it hiker trash meals on a trek so I can be rewarded with a treat in town. Good video man!
I'm glad you decided to put a t-shirt on under your hat and put your sleeves on so you do not get burnt any worse than what you already are I am also glad that you are not constantly changing backpacks and other gear Stick with what works perfectly and that hyperlite backpack is working perfectly and your tent
Have to camp within 15ft. That's interesting. That's why I enjoy wilderness areas. Everything is truly choose your own adventure. Looks like it had great views though 🤙
Bryce, headed out to the three sisters loop trail in a couple of weeks. I know it’s been awhile; but from what you remember you think it would be a place where you could bring a hammock? I’m mostly a hammock guy but could bring a tent if I have to!
It’s 9 PM ... I’m in my tent ⛺️ in Austria 🇦🇹... week hiking 🥾... just watched you video ... awesome like usual ... shaking meat moment & raincoat as pants was funny 😄... I’m curious if went up in one day ... so impatient for next episode... take care man 😉
Great trip and nicely done video. Your hiking pole points pointed directly at the back of your head look potentially ominous though. Good luck and be safe.
Gotta say. I see a lot of similarities in your style. Miles...I like to walk..a lot. Food...I have to remind myself to eat sometimes. Keep it simple so I can focus on hiking. Town food is amazing when you remove yourself from it. Tent...well you know. Carry all the gear up to the summit? Well I'll have to see part 2 but I'm guessing you carried it . I would. Looks like fun...👍
Also, do not apologize at the end. This was intense. When you get all 2/3 parts together that might be a nice single release as well. This was great. Cheers
I have been watching this off and on since you posted it. The other week I completed the Broken Top loop near Sisters and in a few weeks I'll be doing the Sisters Loop. Thanks for inspiring me to get out! I'll try to do the Timberline Trail as well this year. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated!!! Love your vids and your honesty in them!!! P.S. you should have a viewer meet up here when things goes back to normal :)
I struggle to get down food when I’m doing a lot of miles too. Even if I feel hungry, I find myself struggling to get down a whole dinner after a 20 mile day.
Thanks for the video! I’m doing the loop in September and can’t wait.
Thanks fer the hike bud, wish I could git out n do this myself still. Broken body won't let me,so thanks again love the vid.

Soon as possible I will be watching this after work
Really Good Hike.
Glad you found a campsite very smart to have maps printed out beforehand.
I will remember that NuuN - Tang combo. Thanks.
Thank you for this video. Awesome trek!

I'm so glad you commented on not being hungry. I am the same way and for a long time I thought I was backpacking wrong.

Can't wait for Episode 2. Bend Or is one of my favorite places in the world because of those mountains.
I love Bend too.. but more for the beer. 😂😂
@@BryceNewbold I am not sure what your talking about. There is no beer in that town ;) Bend is a great beer town.

The whole reason I started researching backpacking was to climb a mountain. This video really resonates with me. Thanks mane.
I gotta say that's what got me into it too! This is way easier 😄👍

Awesome Trip! Oregon has been high on our to do trip list for a long time.
you gotta do it!
Dude... the views are awesome out there. Especially at the Lake. Incredibly beautiful!!
Hello Bryce, another two thumbs up on this one. Looks like another great series. Take care out there.

Do it! It's so good
You're fortunate you got to do this. A fire is burning near the town of Three Sisters. This whole area might be scorched.

Where is the trailhead to that loop that you did? What map/guide did you use? Do I need a permit to do the Three Sisters Loop?
Where did you start the loop? Probably going to do the same trip this summer (Three sisters + Timberline)
