This tool is amazing when your coils are not crumbling because of a chemical reaction like this one is, but it does definitely help for straightening them
El peinado de serpentines se hace después de verlo lavado, de lo contrario toda esa suciedad e incrustaciones podrían dañarlo o provocar alguna perforación y fugas.
Used to work in a factory that made radiators from scratch, theyd use tile brushes with the bristles cut down to 1/4 or 3/8 of an inch and just brush it out
I did this for a summer to the fins on industrial air conditioners with some sort of acid spray and garden hose to clean and straighten fins so they would stay running
I’ve been a manicurist for 16+ years and worked on plenty of hardworking men and women’s hands… but sir, you have really nice nails and cuticles. 😂😂😂😂😂
You should only try to attempt this if its only small sections that are flat. Even if you get those fins up theres a good chance of a pin hole in that radiator due to using any tools. Now ive been told by shade tree mechanics to fix a pin hole in the coolant system you crack an egg into the anti freeze and that should block it but its not a permanent fix. To me id rather a robust fix that lasts a long time screw planned obsolescence
Absolutely, if 60 to 70% of your fins are flattened like this you're going to increase your surface area back to its original advantage in surface area.
I know gloves are annoying but I’ve learned the hard way to use them. Idc how tough I think my hands are, some piece of metal will show you how soft human skin is.
I have ptsd of getting my palm and finger tips sliced up by catching myself from falling when I was a kid by bracing myself on the back of a window AC unit. Fun times
My greaser uncle used a black comb. Then dips in his drink brushes his hair takes a swig shudders and takes another swig and the wtf the radiator is already in and the moonshine done turned me into a 4 wheel drive in the yard with intake and out put problems!
You could not do this on the radiators now. The fins out never take that. That thing would have holes everywhere. If I'm not mistaken most of these older ones were steel or brass. The new ones are mostly aluminum.
I had an AC unit fall on me once and i put my hands our and it slid down both my hands. Probably the weirdest cut id ever had. Its like i had natural expansion slits on my hands.
I remember when I were younger, I got in trouble by my grandfather because I shot up the AC unit outside the house with my airsoft gun. He made me sit there for hours with one of them little comb things and go through and fix all them little fins even though I had ruptured it he still made me sit and do the whole thing but there truly isn’t anything that I would not give to have a day with him again
If he slips his hand are full of deep cuts. I recommend some gloves
Nah
i feel the skin on his fingers works as natural gloves at this point, but yeah someone like me would need gloves hah
I just cut the shit out of my hands on those trying to get my ac unit into the window 😂
Really sharp when brand new but when old if you have tough skin it bends before cutting you
Exactly. I immediately cringed and got a shiver down my spine within 1.5 seconds of the video starting 😅
The hands of a hard worker 🫡

Every homeless man has even harder hands and they dont get any credit.

Get the fin combs by yellow jacket that you can pull, you dont want to push if you slip youll have spaghetti for hands.
My hands got sympathetic cuts watching him drag his hands along the fins
Or wear freaking gloves.....
Do you see this guys hands? I think he’s got built in gloves
In the real world.. people actually work hard with what is at hand... Not everyone lives the American pussy pampered life..
Pretty sure he got is right pinky, you watch him flinch and pull it up away from the fins.
Хорошая штучка, гениальное изобретение, не то что шилом и отвёрткой часами ковырять

its rusty
This has to work for only older style radiators for older cars. Couldn't imagine doing that with paper thin ones in cars today.
They'd be easier to straighten...
@@CadillacDriverthe newer ones start turning to powder after a few years
Hvac systems, air con still have this style. Didn't even realize it was for a car at first.

Ahhhh yes good ol radiator fin cuts in the finger tips!!! Been there buddy!! Woooo lol.

Did it as a kid on the indoor coolers that went in the windows. Rip

Причесывание радиатора - это отдельный вид искусства 🙂👍 Завораживает😳
You slip & you're soldering.
@@WiCapitalco ...не, я поскользил на авторынок за новым радиатором...

You definitely could slice your finger any one of those radiator fins.
@@DefendTheStar если постараться, то можно и порезаться и не только пальцы. 😜
Used that style years ago resurfacing our A/C units at the motel, Worked great. And it's better to drag it through.
I used bend these as a kid all the tim the a/c. I started doing HVAC and got one of these combs. Its odly satisfying.
Работаю на производстве теплообмеников, расчевынание ламели то ещё удовольствие😂
Been doing this for years. Never ever saw it come pit that smooth. Hahahaha

Used to have to do this on refrigeration units as an apprentice
Horrible job to do
But very satisfying as a job well done for some reason
I used to go to Tiajuana to get my radiators fixed good work 😂❤
Ok thats actually satisfying 😁
Nice solution to a common problem, much appreciated my friend
I did not know that tool existed, excellent
I still have fin picks from Modine manufacturing. I use those babies all the time. It would have been nice to have a tool like that though.
Man I needed one of these back in the day
This would be handy for so much more to kitchen work of any type any kind of HVAC with coils awesome tool
Screwdriver flat always works brilliant. Done this for 25 years
This tool actually comes with an attachable handle so you don't have to risk shredding your finger tips.
You know this hands have suffered. Nice job anyway. Would like to see a full video from start to end product. My kind of therapy!!!😂😂😂

In 2 weeks time that's going to look great 👍
Been there brother, its a painstaking job. But can pay well on big machines. 😁
How much to clean this 350. How much for a new radiator 350.
This is so helpful!
It's a very good tool, old things become new.

Ottima professionalità e ottimo strumento utilizzato da una persona competente
Thanks for repairing all those air conditioners i smushed down as a kid probably ruined so many units without realizing it then
Now that I've seen it, I need it

Would that work on air conditioners too?
Like to hear his guitar skills with funger tips like he must have...😅
OK now let me do this 100 more times
its not that bad ive been doing this for years on my ac unit... just gotta take your time...
How much do you charge to do this and what’s the tool coast I found a new hustle lol 😝
The new aluminum radiators have a zig zag patterned fin which is even more difficult to straighten but it is super important to have that air flow
Sharp wire to pluck them up always works it take time but works
That tool is ingenious
Does this actually help with overheating tho?

I love working on my cars... but as cool as this is... I'm just buying a new one 😅
Sometimes you cant "Just buy a new one" sometimes they are unobtainium due to price or just a rare part on an uncommon or forgotten car from the past

One of the first tasks I was assigned when I went to work at a shop when I was a kid.
I used to push those lines in when I was younger until I brushed my hand on it juuuuust right and shredded my hand. Never did that again for sure 😂
nice radiator!👍
Yellow jacket comb will save your hands from a lot of super glue gauze and bandaids you can pull instead of push
Is the radiator only for siding this procedure, cuz it needs to be replaced
Is it honestly worth all that work?

A new radiator is about 75 to 150 for most cars through 1A auto
1) why it's so big?
2) why it's so damaged?
If the radiator is corroded to hell, it doesn't matter how straight you get those fins.😅😅
Cool tool though.👍
Now do a 150 ton RTU condenser coil flattened by hail.
Where did you get such a comb to open the radiator
It's a fin comb
