Your information in general is pretty good common sense that people already have without you supplying to us, no one is that dumb. Although you don't have much knowledge about food contamination and spoilage. Shop at a decent market first of all. Furthermore, the Philippines grows more different fruits and vegetables than anywhere in the world, and they grow more calamansi(Limes) than anyone. They always provide fresh product if you know how to obtain it. And for the hamburger meat recycling the USA is famous for doing that. You should stick to supplying us with the cost of living. Filipinos are really smart people. I an an American fighting man, retired, combat trained Veteran, born and raised in Arkansas. Keep trying. Good luck.

I been in the Philippines since December 2022 and I finally made it to a S & R store in October 2024 and the cooked PIZZA omg that first bite I was back at home in America. The pizza was so good and the taste was perfect. Whenever I get home sick I'm going for the pizza at S & R

I'm sure there are some good restaurants in NCR that have some of the foods I miss, such as good bbq pork ribs or real mexican tacos. But S&R does have a ton of packaged foods that I regularly used back in the US, such as Classico brand spaghetti sauce (although they lack the flavor assortment) or Country Time pink lemonade mix. I wish I could bring the wife to an S&R so she can just experience that kind of place, but I'm guessing we couldn't walk out of there without spending 10k minimum. Plus I'm not up for the 4 hours of round-trip travel.

It's a great concept, something I didn't see back in the US (at least where I've lived). Some of them can be questionable when it comes to safe food handling and storage, but the majority of them are safe enough. I've never got sick from eating at one, and I really enjoy the chicken curry.

@@jasoninrizal3451saw a thick black hair in the food that they were scooping for me in the carinderia that i usually go to. That made me disgusted and i probably will not go back

@@wanderingdoc5075 Unfortunately that's fairly common, even at some of the "higher-end" restaurants. I can't recall seeing any food servers/cooks wearing hair nets here, mostly just reusing the same pair of cheap plastic gloves all day long.

The site we've been using for about 2 years now is safeselect.ph and so far they've been great. We're too far from NCR to get the selection found in that area, local open markets and supermarkets here have a more limited selection. If we order before 11am today, then tomorrow morning they'll collect the order and deliver it to us before 1pm. It's transported in a personal air-conditioned vehicle, with the meats sealed in bags and packed in ice. Much better quality than the local markets, and when you consider transportation costs and convenience, Safeselect actually tends to be cheaper.

Arnis is the name of the common Filipino martial art, aka escrima training. The Philippines also has martial arts schools from other styles, depending on which you want to practice. NCR even has a few aikido and kendo schools, which I was interested in but it's too far from where we live. Depending on where you might live here, they could have a smaller Arnis school nearby. Just have to look around, Facebook usually is where most advertise here.
