Me too five times (All with Alex, and all at Sheffield City Hall) starting with when they were the support band for Slade in 1973. It's beyond me why they weren't more popular than they were.
Zal is better than ever these days, with his current project: /sin'dogs/. Fantastic debut album (Vol.1), and if any of you get the chance to see 'em live, omg do it! If you don't get the chance to see 'em live, then MAKE the chance!! Just staggeringly good on all levels... \m/ (:o)
This singer wasn't cutting it. If you're going to sing Alex, you better have the range and balls to go with it. Not big on this arrangement either. Cleminson still rocks though.
I agree with you! At least in this show the camera focuses on Zal. I got so ticked off at the 1974 Ragnarock video we only saw the camera focus mostly on Alex, (which I do understand for that time period), but I wanted to see more of Zal's guitar work. Here, in this newer video, we see mostly Zal.
@@fredchatham6680The band flourished as much from alex harvey than alex harvey from the band. Alex harvey had the creativity and imagination to make those extraordinary and memorable songs. The band was capable to make his craziest ideas come to life on its full potential. Alex is in unconventionally way a great singer and if you listen to their studio albums he can sing. He just sings like a poet and that has its own charm in it. All talent in music aint about technical skill. Othervice we would have pretty forgettable music as we have today.
I think of this tune as inspired by Midnight Moses. I really don't feel it's the same piece of music. I think (if) I were not a SAHB fan then I'd appreciate it more.
Hmmm...They wrote this (well , Alex did , by all accounts) so they can really do what they like with it. That said , this doesn't really fly for me. The original has that ''dog with five legs'' riff that Alex apparently said caught the band out when he first taught them it. In this arrangement , it seems to have completely disappeared in favour of a generic rock riffage-fest. And Max Maxwell...I'm sure he's a lovely chap , and that he gets and respects the music as much as any fan. But I cannot figure out what he's aiming at here. Like I say , it's their tune and all that , and it's nice to see it getting gigged by 80 percent of the original band . But something of an opportunity missed.
I was wondering the same thing. I'm from Jacksonville, FL., the hometown of Limp Bizkit. I adore BORLAND but I love Cleminson more by far. But Wes Borland, who surely knows all about Zal Cleminson, would never admit to being influenced in anyway. He has a bit of A HUGE EGO! Zal, on the other hand is humble and always giving credit where credit is due, as far as I can tell. Wes just says in all of his interviews that he was an art student before he became interested in music and his look and props just come from him being an "artiste" and he just brought that to his music. I know Wes through the lead singer's Mom. She was my weight loss coach for quite awhile. Wes won't even admit he's from Jacksonville because he's embarrassed by this city with too many rough edges and Southern rednecks. If you ask Wes where he is from, he will say, and has said, Los Angeles because he lives there now! Anyways a bit off topic! Oh,.also, Zal is a much better guitarist by far!
Agreed all around: RIP Alex. David Johansen should join the band-- he could probably pull off the "camp" that Alex had. At least he could get closer than anyone else I can think of.
Carlos Santana, Pete Townshend and Zal were the only three front line guitarists who could actually get the best out of the Gibson SG Specials. And I think all three used by these artists were 60s models. I owned two seventies models, one with a Bigsby, and they were nowhere near as good. Just blocks of wood to me. But then again, I couldn't afford a sixties Standard. My brother has at least six of those, and definitely three Specials, and they all have Les Paul neck profiles I think. Definitely Les Paul width fret boards. Just a thought if anyone gives a shit. 😎
@@nickphillips7319 Yeah, I recognize (grudgingly though) what you say about the seventy's models. I have a 1974 SG - bought it second hand in 1979 - and it has been giving me trouble ever since. Especially the G string tuning is a constant pain. But I love how it feels in my hands. It's dirty and capricious and asks to be punished, same way as it punishes me. It's like a troubled marriage, but we can't let go of each other. I guess it's a fate I chose.
Who the hell is that shrub on vocals? Looks and sounds like an extra from Trainspotting!! Saw video of Chris guesting with the Dead Daisies. Chris looked like he'd been with them for years.
Singer missed the plot singing this in your face song...The girl singer in Cleveland USA smacked it good...Alex would've kicked him off the stage..... his vocals were so weak
Ak 74 unfortunately there is no one that can replace Alex. He was unique at the time and built the band up in layers through the years. You can’t get someone to take over those reins.......Max Maxwell certainly couldn’t,( and I have seen many versions of SAHB).
Zell clemmensen one of the greatest guitar players of all time and very underrated
the guy sucks!!!
Who?
Spot on, Mate! \m/ (:o)
Zal Cleminson is very underrated... couldn't agree more...
So underrated some people can’t even get his name right!
In the 70's Zal was an innovative badass guitar player....bending the guitar in and out...way before Adrian Belew. Insanely underrated!
Zal is still one of the best guitar players on this globe... Look f or Orphans of the Ash!
@@mikaelfellman i like Zal
Alex was a true original and lead the music of punk before there was a genre! So glad that I got to see them live!!!
Me too five times (All with Alex, and all at Sheffield City Hall) starting with when they were the support band for Slade in 1973. It's beyond me why they weren't more popular than they were.
I would say that punk took much of what SAHB, Hawkwind and MC5 was doing and added a different air to it.
Great to see Chris Glen still rockin' too..... Zal is sublime👍 just missing the McKenna brothers
They're there! At least Ted is!
Fucking Zal is a genius, there are great guitar players but there are NONE BETTER THAN ZAL
Zal and Chris are MONSTER players!
ZAL FUCKING ROCKS 🔥🔥🔥🎸🎸🎸
You know wotz sad..if Alex would have been around and sung here..it would have been a dream..band sounds soooo heavy..wonderful.
Zal is still great!
I was thinking the same thing. He totally rocks! Too bad the singer is a goofball. R.I.P. ALex
Cleminson Awesome
Brilliant sound -RIP Max and RIP Ted (vocals and drums)
The greatest of all
Perfect example of wringing as much as you can from a great band which ended when Alex passed away !
This singer wasn't cutting it. If you're going to sing Alex, you better have the range and balls to go with it. Not big on this arrangement either. Cleminson still rocks though.
Well said
He never was "good". In the 70's his band carried him.
You gotta scream out this fucker!

Zal needs to break out the Gibson sg again always look badass with sg!
Max - Legend 💔
A legend of infamy, pure shite!
Alex's spirit must have been spinning after this pantomime.
Horrid!! 🤡
I miss hearing them with Alex
I liked it. Trouble is, the audience wasn’t even born during sahb’s glory days.
the band brilliant,the singer mmmmm
It's like Halloween meets the 60s meets up with the early years of punk...😆😆😆😊😎
I think of this tune as inspired by Midnight Moses. I really don't feel it's the same piece of music. I think (if) I were not a SAHB fan then I'd appreciate it more.
Zal is great. Like the classic arrangement
Zal is the Best!!
Zell...❤

love to see Fin Muir from Waysted with these guys instead of that singer
I have to agree. This doesn't do a thing for me. I'm an Alex Harvey fan and without him its just not the same. No sir, It does nothing.
I completely agree with you, a big something is missing here, I'm pleased to see the band again but ....
Sean MacCartan I agree.. that was all over the page
Dante Steel this man is a pudding. Alex forever
Go for it, Max.
More like get the f off the stage!
go Zal go!!!!!!!
the guy from Limp Bizkit ,Wes Borland i wonder if he's heard of or seen Zal Cleminson on stage,
Guaranteed he has. Borland, while a decent player in his own right, basically lifted the gimmick from Clemminson.
I was wondering the same thing. I'm from Jacksonville, FL., the hometown of Limp Bizkit. I adore BORLAND but I love Cleminson more by far. AH had a sheen of, dare I say it, danger, which David Johansen doesn't really manage.
Johansen doesn't and never had the range to do this. I like him though.
I actually gotta agree partially with you I think he could pull it off... maybe...
Would love to see him give it a go
Quite right.
ZAL! Where's the fuckin' SG, man?
Sold long ago....🥲

Alex would be proud, Zal is still a great shredder.
RIP....MAX.
Max did a superb job, just what the band needed, shame they didn't gig more.
You must be kidding, right?
Wouldn’t have been my choice.
West end of Glasgow face, that’s all.
No originality, trying too hard to be Lydon /Harvey
Max sucked on this.
Max without SAHB? I think not.
I WAS ROBBED !
Ya fuckin banger ,you think that he is rotten? Wee davy in Glasgow ⏲️ so wiz Harvey 😎 vambo roolz!
I think Chris still has that coat I must ask him lol
Que falta faz o Alex!
Still great.They remade themselves .
how do you get on the bill at these places..
Lyndon, Iggy, hell even Billy Idol. . Anybody please. . Changed that chunky guitar sound. .
Who is this guy singing? It certainly isn't Alex Harvey. Alex died 5 years before this
The drummer is dragging his arse.Ted was truly great.
It is Ted McKenna. It's probably harder for him than the others to play at the level he did in his 20s. All in all, they did a great job
true that
Hese still got that coat lol I’m sure I’ve seen him wearing it at gigs lol
Shows us that Zal is so fucking great that he can carry a crap lead singer like this guy.
The guitar player is all set for Halloween
Who the hell is that shrub on vocals? Looks and sounds like an extra from Trainspotting!!
Saw video of Chris guesting with the Dead Daisies. Chris looked like he'd been with them for years.
Heavy as fuck !!!!!!
Best band ever, sadly this singer got no soul. BRING BACK ALEX
Considering he died 40 years ago, that’s just not possible I’m afraid
Singer missed the plot singing this in your face song...The girl singer in Cleveland USA smacked it good...Alex would've kicked him off the stage..... his vocals were so weak
Terrible front man , he’s ruining a classic track Alex Harvey wouldn’t be impressed
Absolutely.... whoever he is he sucks.... but than again the only person who could really sing this song is dead....
Sadly he's trying too hard.If he reigned it in a tad and hired a good stylist it would go a long way imo?
Ak 74 unfortunately there is no one that can replace Alex. He was unique at the time and built the band up in layers through the years. You can’t get someone to take over those reins.......Max Maxwell certainly couldn’t,( and I have seen many versions of SAHB).
Yeah, he was cutting about the Glasgow scene for years, likeable , but, unremarkable
Does the drummer come in off beat?
'who's dat SINGA? datz NOT ALEX! he's DEAD long ago!!
Tom the Mafia stole it so Zal told me hah hah
It's lost it's bollocks.
Nooo
rock is for the young , the guy can't carry the song
Lead singer is horrible
До Алекса ему далеко. А вот Зал Клеменс хорош во все времена!
Very bad Imperson
Zero showmanship
Horrendous
Not a fan of the vocals
Man, I could sing that shit better than that!!! Seriously!!!
And 💩 could sing it better than you ! 🤣
Holy Moses! What a crappy performance! What a singer
Wtf is this? Bob Geldof and Metallica on meth??
Sorry, but I like the cover by Dead Daisies much better.
Who the hell is that fronting the band? He's horrible! Some things should just be left alone like the Alex Harvey Band. He died. It's over.
This is a disgrace.
Sorry, but terrible. Nobody could cover Alex, but this guy not even close.
Sorry, but this is appalling……..whoever they are.
Lead singer is crap, zal is superb as ever...
This is really really really awful. Not even same song
sorry, this is awful
fucking awful
I see a bunch of scarecrow jumping, finding it all a wonder... Terrible!!
This is a joke
Sorry get another singer sounds like some one just got on stage out of crowd
