Honestly, I got mixed up before someone explained it to me. I thought trans men were men who were trans and vice versa. I didn’t realize that the gender after the word trans referred to the gender that they are now instead of what they had been assigned to at birth.
Transphobia had been ingrained into me when I was a kid, as most kids were taught. I made a transphobic comment once when I was young and I feel so bad and ashamed about it. I felt bad about it then, too, after my sister explained why there was a “guy” in the girl’s bathroom. What I wouldn’t give to take it all back.

@@laurainathunderstorm I hope you're being genuine, but I literally had to teach a Mexican-American over two decades older than me and form whom Spanish is supposed to be an equal as their first-language alongside English, the grammatical use of the Spanish singular gender-neutral pronoun "Usted". Which conjugates the same as "El" ('he')/"Ella" ('she'), and which I cited his own comments wherein he conjugated verbs in third-person singular (El/Ella/Usted) having dropped the explicit pronoun due to referential context. ("Ella es mi hermana. Es una actriz y toca la guitarra." --> "She is my sister. (She) is an actress and plays guitar." I didn't repeat "Ella" because, like, I'm talking about the same person.)
So, like, there are people whose literal grammar has a specific singular-they equivalent that they use frequently. A specific singular-they equivalent which is the default grammatical form called upon when someone is doing something. And yet they deny that such a word exists even as they use the word in their denial.

it's more about how there are options. You don't need to use a tampon, you could use a pad, a cup, or reusable pads which you could actually make yourself or buy, either way. It's similar to why diapers are taxed. not because babies should be pooping everywhere, but because disposable diapers are an option you chose for convenience over cloth diapers that you can wash.
For that matter, clothing is taxed even though it is illegal to run around naked.

As someone who's been sexually assaulted and know friends, including guys, who have been sexually assulted, I think that bathrooms should be merged, but made more secure. I'm not going into a merged bathroom with a foot or two of length under the door, and crappy cardboard-ish wood material for the walls and doors. Everyone deserves a safe place to do their business, and people shouldn't have to choose between two options that stress them out all on the name of conforming to society. At first, I was against merging bathrooms in general... but then realized my problem wasn't really with the merging, but rather the usually crappy design of most public bathrooms I've personally encountered.

Lastly, we do not actually know how many people are intersex. Karyotyping is very expensive, and often discouraged from students in the field to do on themselves, as the shock of finding out they actually don't conform to what they believed is known to be a bit much and not worth the emotional stress and price, as it would, likely impede on school abilities as well.
And finally. Most people have brown eyes. Most people have brown hair. However, those are things we can see. Many people only find out their infertile after they have tests done, for example, despite being infertile from birth.
Now, do tell me, have you been karyotyped? Because claiming to know your chromosomes, definitively, even in vague wording, is a bit disingenuous, not to mention claiming to know other people's, without the paperwork to prove that said person is in fact these specific chromosomes.
So, unless you have genuine proof to show you not only know your own chromosomes, but also that you somehow have magically changed the mind of the general scientific consensus that backs up the mere fact that sex is a spectrum, then please do not try to claim I'm, what was it, "intellectphobic", for correcting your misinformation that you are spreading without any care for the impact it will have on others and how it could damage people's lives and perspectives. Information is very valuable, but if information was money, you would be handing out forgeries, kind stranger, so please, if you can prove me wrong, give me scientific studies and non-biased studies as well as all from non-biased sources, preferably more official like the governmental sites, as those tend to be more reliable. Officiality is key. I'll await said sources with great patience. :)

Although, I couldn't specifically say this to him due to him being trans/enby/bi-phobic (I wanted to avoid his 2-5 hour "lecture" that he does whenever someone has a disagreement with him). Currently closeted as heck, so I tend to use the girls' bathroom when my parents are nearby. A few weeks ago I'm casually washing my hands and a woman walks in, gasps a bit, looks at the sign to make sure she walked into the right bathroom, then nervously walks in, avoiding eye contact with me. Good to know she knew I was a dude I guess.

this is a good idea. i’ve always thought that making bathrooms/sports teams/etc for amab people and afab people would be better than saying they’re for men/boys and women/girls-then transphobes can’t really complain about trans people making games unfair, but it will (hopefully) alleviate dysphoria that comes from saying it’s for people who are male/female, plus provide a place for non-binary/genderfluid people (as an afab enby, i’d prefer that at least, but i can’t speak for other trans people)

Bringing up PragerU again, it’s.. been a process for me. I FINALLY recently came into myself more, coming out as non-binary to myself, my mother, and, after a lot of turmoil and concern, my father and step-mother. The latter don’t use my pronouns, but I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming they just don’t remember very often. It wouldn’t be the first time they’ve easily forgotten something important to me. The first time I saw a PragerU ad, it was on one of OT’s videos, right at the start. It was not a good day, and I wanted to get some serotonin from cute lesbians. It was the first time I felt personally targeted by something like this - it’s always there, always affecting us and others, but until that very moment I never thought of it as being against me personally, just against us as a whole. That advertisement changed a lot for me. I didn’t want to watch it but I couldn’t hit the skip button. I’m near tears at this point just thinking about how I felt in that moment. It’s so hard to articulate, but I know everyone here will understand, or at least someone will. This is harder than it should be. We should not have to worry about being insulted and made fun of everywhere we go, even in our comfort spaces, like OT’s channel. It should be a default that everyone is accepting of every gender, sexuality, and identity. It should be a default that “changing your mind” is not seen as a fake attention grab. Everyone should be able to experiment with their own body and heart. These kinds of ads should be illegal. These kinds of people should be charged. This should be against the law. The fact that it’s so INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT to understand how we actually feel, coming from first hand experience, until we’re faced with a personal attack is not okay. And it’s not a dismissal or lack of care in most cases. Hell, I have been part of the LGBT community for years now, but only then did I feel just how horrible it is. It’s just hard to understand and hard to see until you’re in the shoes of the people trying to defend themselves against thief opposers. What has this come to? How do we fix it? How can we help it? How can we help other people understand without making them go through what we have?
Romans accepted this. Accepted us. Greeks did too. In fact, supported and encouraged it. When did we become “sinners” for being who we are? When did the LGBT community stop being as clear and normal as having a black car or a red car? When did this world decide we no longer deserve to be human?

    • @RageOfBeef

Okay this is gonna sound insensitive but the reason is, the Catholic church and old British empire decided to take over the world and wipe out anybody whose studies and opinions didn't match theirs or who refused to change to match theirs, in other words, theirs potentially way more history behind the general old world of LGBT people that no longer exists because one culture decided to be judge jury and executioner over the whole world for a couple decades, and now well nobody really lives who realizes aside from us that the world isn't changing it's always been this way but was erased and forced to bend into a certain shape for the sake of control

My family thought i was just a late bloomer. A really, really late bloomer. As in, have yet to date by mid 20's.
The problem is everyone who has approached me did so with the intent on having a sexual relationship and i'm just like "nah, and since you said that, i'm just gonna walk far away". I apparently need to be friends for 3+ years before i'd consider dating, but by then, everyone who'd be willing to date me has given up or is unavailable because they had to wait so long.
One person said they liked me back, but then wouldn't make time for me or reach out to me for a year so my demi brain says it's a no go and the person is no longer dateable.
