The murder-mystery wedding thing actually sounds pretty awesome. Then again, I've never been married nor to a murder-mystery event.

I liked that Annie and Helen weren't fighting over a man, but over Lillian's friendship. Since the movie is from Annie's perspective, we're allowed to hate Helen along with her, until we learn that Helen is overcompensating for having no real female friends.

Something I can tell was scrapped for the reason of making Helen likable/sympathetic is that Helen was behind everything going wrong. I mean, she gave the drugs to Annie, she was smug that whole restaurant thing and was the only one not to eat the meat, and was just flaunting the one thing Annie didn't have, money, towards Lillian and Annie. It was the perfect setup to her being an evil scheming woman, and it would have been SO much more interesting if they had gone both routes - Make her be evil and behind all those bad things but only because she thought she'd lose her only friend, Lillian, to Annie because she's never had any healthy female friends before

There should’ve been a sin off for Megan’s monologue about how you’re your problem and you’re also your solution. Good words to live by.
Preach, it's one of the best scenes, and allows Megan to help Annie, and also act as the voice of reason somewhat.
I haven't learned my own solution part unfortunately. It's just the former with me.

I love the plane scene with Annie I just can't help it, so nostalgic. "There is a colonial woman on the wing" also the excitement when Megan realizes he is in fact an air Marshall after all idk why they just always get me
That air marshal (Ben Falcone) is also the actress (Melissa McCarthy) husband in real life which makes that scene all that much more hilarious.

@@timberwolfe1645 skinny people can be unhealthy too. someone's weight is not always indicative of their health or even their fitness level all the time. it's to be inclusive because everyone deserves to feel beautiful and because how much you weigh should not determine your value. being overweight is not a moral failing. it's natural and expected that the majority of commercials feature more conventionally beautiful or attractive people, so it's absurd that people feel the need to nitpick at the minority of ads that do show various body types.

as someone who bakes or makes crafts to relax, I love the cupcake baking montage. And the fact that she gets out all her ridiculous tools to make one single, beautiful cupcake gives more backstory to her character.

It’s her hobby / passion he wants to enjoy with her. It’s the process not the consumption of food. It was a bit presumptuous to me because it was very intimate and a bit forced, though.

So glad he got called out! Annie clearly has some trauma around baking, she wasn’t ready to do it and he has no right to force her. Then she ends up apologising to him when he goes off in a strop?! Hated that part!
Thank you for calling out McCarthy's character's behavior on the plane. She continues to make very overt advances to someone that has turned her down repeatedly, culminating in her trapping him with her leg up like that asking if he can feel the heat coming from her crotch or something similar. It's straight up predator behavior and stuff like that slides in media all the time when the predator is a women. It's really a shame they end up together after all that.

On the topic of baking: Never put brown sugar into flour or you will end up with hard chunks of brown sugar. You cream your sugars with your butter or oil then add your eggs & vanilla (or other extracts). You mix your dry ingredients seperately then you combine the dry ingredients into the wet ones.
This is a good movie, but my biggest complaint is how long it is and how often they drive jokes into the ground by repeating them. So I'm truly glad you mentioned it each time.
Agreed, you could tell that Feig allows his actors to ad lib certain lines or scenes, though, while it works well here, it was obnoxious and unfunny in "Ghostbusters 2016."

My wedding actually pretty much was a carnival. Came in on a camel in a black dress with a magician officiant and a turtle ring bearer. There was a world famous whistler, a petting zoo, giant pizza and 2/3 of Tenacious D.

PSA : the 24 hour rule for filing a missing person is bogus (at least where I live). If you have good reason to think someone is missing, than that is reason enough.

Depends on the person. A little kid goes missing cops will help ASAP. A teenager or an adult it depends. If witnesses saw them being taken. Or if their home shows signs of a struggle or they leave a suicide note. Otherwise cops will say they probably ran away or they don't have enough evidence and you need to wait.
Saying that I went on a bender one weekend when I was 21 and my BF called the cops saying it was out of character and I might have been kidnapped. And to the cops credit they started investigating right away. But if they'd deemed me a shady character or my family I don't think they would've put the effort it

I have to disagree with you calling the airplane scene "vaguely dull and forgettable". This is probably one of the most memorable scenes in this movie.
Seriously? I didn't even remember it before watching this video, and I watched Bridesmaids for the first time only a few months ago. The bathroom scene, sex then climbing over the fence scene, her freakout at the party scene and more are all much more memorable.
I actually enjoyed the airplane scene, but agree that there's funnier moments in this movie, most notably Annie's freak out at the bridal shower.

Here we go - the “crushing debt” that’s sinned is actually part of the whole point of the movie. It’s about striving to show class in a classless situation - whether the people be tactless or are spending more money than they have. By the film’s end, Annie has landed a kind boyfriend, sure - but she’s still out of work and her car isn’t exactly something to be proud of. A wedding dance with Wilson Phillips may make you temporarily happy, but it won’t pay any bills.
“A misappropriation of resources” is the most apt description of this movie ever

@7:00 this was my mom's whole drag of this whole damn movie. I'll be honest, it was refreshing to see? I guess? That women who are indeed beautiful would go ahead and make themselves look "not pretty" for laughs, BUT, totally agree that they are still funny without resorting to poop/fart/puke jokes. Honestly, the funniest part of this scene was when Kristen Wiig was trying to play it cool with Rose Byrne, sweating her ass off and telling her she felt fine. I agree the writers should have trusted that their audience would see the humor in these women without all the pooping and puking. There! Are you happy, Mom?!

It's not that easy. Money issues always makes relationships weird, with a romantic partner or a friend . Because if Annie had said "I can't afford that" then her friend would have offered to pay for it, but then Annie wouldn't want to feel like she owes her friend and she has pride obviously, and on top of that, this new BFF has a wealthy hubby so 🤗 its very relatable

You were way too hard on this movie! Both the "gross out" section and airplane sequence = totally hilarious. I saw this in the theater, and seriously most of the punchlines were lost because the sold-out audience was riotous with howling laughter. Everyone left the theater *loving* that movie.
Dude, there's no accounting for taste. Remember, people thought Amy Schumer was funny, that Bill Cosby was a nice guy, etc etc.
People thought having sex in porn theatres was fun too.
Simply because a certain audience gravitates towards a certain genre doesn't make it entertaining for everyone.

I found this film deeply unfunny, I really struggled to sit through it. The part where she was doing the wedding speech battle was painful, I was embarrassed for the movie.
