- Rossini's William Tell Storm Scene is a pretty infamous trombone excerpt. Requires a lot of slide coordination, articulation and an ability to keep cool calm and collected in the middle of the storm. Not perfect, but a lot of fun to play :).
I am going to start teaching private lessons again! If you're interested please fill out a form! forms.gle/PEG1...

I'm teaching lessons again! Fill out the google form in the description if you're interested :). Hope you enjoy the William Tell excerpt. Not perfect but a lot of fun to play. If only I could record the concert!!
please give bassoon lessons
im joking 😭
I'm pretty sure this was perfect lol but I'd love to take lessons!!!!!
@@j.car09 lesson 1. Play trombone instead!
yes
I played this at my band school my classmaates were schocked how i played
I love that opera and it's great and impressive to hear this excerpt from the trombone's "point of view"!
haha I missed the r and thought you said “impressive to hear except from the trombone”
I don’t mean to be that guy, but the grammar would be ‘“point of view!”.’ You would put the exclamation in the quotation marks.
@@austinkingrey5326 Oh, thanks! I'm not an English native speaker so I'm afraid the finer aspects of punctuation evade me.
@@Casutama English is tricky. Don't worry about it.
@@austinkingrey5326 In American English, you only put the exclamation mark inside the quote if it’s part of the quote. It’s the same with question marks, dashes, and colons. If you’re gonna be that guy, at least be correct.
This sounds amazing great job and clean articulation! Now play it up 3 octaves
I wouldn’t worry about it, the ensemble already has trumpets
@@larsnyman2455 ya but trombone is cooler
@@larsnyman2455 no because trombone
Nah. Down two octaves then jump up four
Ling ling can play it up 40 octaves. On the triangle.
Great playing! The bassoon part doubles the trombones on this part and it's a beast, but you nailed it!
Same for cellos and basses
I love how this and the bassoon have so similar parts with such different timbre, really produces different sound together!
Can’t hear the bassoon because of the timbre differences. Trombones are meant to be heard especially when playing loudly ! Lol 😂
So cool, really love it! Played that a few years ago and knew that I have to leave the camera off to make it work at the required speed..
Hey! You were my inspiration to put the gopro on the slide! It definitely takes getting used to, maybe that’s why my timing wasn’t perfect in this recording ;).
Im impressed by the lack of jokes about how goofy the POV looks when it moves
I had never listened to that excerpt and it’s wonderful!!!! The trombone is crazy, timpani make it sound like it’s an EDM song, and the harmony in the first measures remind me of a blues.
There's a German marching band that plays EDM. They're called MEUTE.
this is the best angle i have ever seen of a man playing the tombone
very nice! i also love hearing the winds in the background. i love hearing different parts of the orchestra isolated in rehearsal
quick question: how does he keep the trombone so still all the time?
if he already has a video about this can someone give me the link?
if not, can you make a video on it, timo? :)
support using your neck and shoulder i guess? i’m not him, but that’s what i do. the little crook produced by raising your arm slightly to hold the trombone fits it nice and cozy
My guess is that it's just perspective due to the slide cam. The slide (and camera attached to it) move exactly in parallel with the rest of the instrument, so it probably just looks really still because everything is moving together. You can even see that compared to the background, the trombone is moving quite a bit.
As a former trombone player of 5 years, you just get used to balancing it on your shoulder, and gripping the slide gives some stability.
Sounds great! My question is how long it took you to make it clean?
My guess is decades of practice. At least one decade before doing this "one of the hardest trombone excerpts"
@@henrychess3decades of practice?? when the dude is young and hasn’t worked on this piece for decades
You’re on something 💀
Absolutely amazing!! That was so perfect!
No wonder you're so good. You're an *orchestral* trombonist.
Or he’s an orchestral trombonist because he’s very good?
I was a percussionist and two of my friends were trombone players so when ever I got to play timpani we would goof off together since our parts were somewhat similar
As a trombone player I want to be able to play that part of the song now.
The fact that the camera zooms in and out with what you play is hilarious for some reason😂
Well that’s how you play trombone
Video came out just in time for my large ensemble placement auditions for college. Lifesaver Timo honestly
There is so much William Tell stuff that slaps.
I want to play trombone so bad
Do it
never too late
Anybody can play trombone bad, you should work on playing it good.
@@stephenbeck7222 underrated reply
What if they are broke
I love how the percussion section is masked with screens between them and the winds, who are literally just blasting their breath in to the air.
The screens are for acoustic purposes, and have been standard practice for many years
The definition of culture is listening to 'William Tell' without thinking of the Lone Ranger.
so cool
Dude, there is nothing that can beat the gopro on the trombone slide in terms of total hillariousness xD
Sounds amazing
my favorite piece of all time
Nah i love this bro keep it up
Cudos to you bud! getting crisp sound is pretty for low brass especially trombone! Awesome work!
trombone > girlfriend 😎
Man is playing trombone champ irl with the gopro mounted like that
These trombones are working overtime
you are very inspiring I play trombone too so great job
Nice
Absolutely stunning.
So satisfying
Nicely done! I wonder if the difficulty may be because Rossini wrote for valved trombone-I recently learned that this is the case with Verdi.
Pretty good! As a euphonium player, I approve.
This is first person at its finest
This is what it's like when your eyes strain, constrict and dilate, you see objects go small big small big.
French Horn player here, this fucking shreds. Respect.
this song sounds so cool
I nailed the long E when I tried this
I remember watching the cartoon as a kid and LOVING it man thanks for the nostalgia pills
Y'all sound awesome!
Today I learned that Dragonballs Soundtrack took a lot of inspiration from Rossini.
One word: DAMN SIR-
sounds fire
And it fuckin slapped
Catherine? OMG soo many memories
I LOVE IT LMAOO
Funny this should show up in my recommendations now. I listened to the full piece for the first time just last week!
This is sick!
Truly a trumbone champion
My choir also did William Tell but no instruments, just our sad teenage vocal cords 😅
You should play the better call saul intro with the gopro attached like this
When you enter the circus boss room.
Bros index boutta snap
The Bass Trombone 💪💪💪
that's a tight sound!
Go off king 🎺
“That’s sum good blowing.”
I REMEMBER THE CLASSIC MICKEY MOUSE EPISODE THEY DID THIS SONG
I didn't really read the title so I thought that you were about to play Darth Vader's theme 💀
*woooowooooo sound effect*
My toxic trait is thinking I could learn this with only classical piano and percussion under my belt
Plot twist: he considers the Trombone his girlfriend.
Wait but what’s the original joke lol
It looks so funny but great job!
This feels like a meme that has manual zoom in
i always forget you can do Bb in T3
Camera angles give me red birb uweuweuwe vibes
Kid Goku is in some kind of trouble!
J'ai encore du chemin à faire 😅
Every time I watch a trombone video, I'm more convinced that it's actually impossible to play.
POV: you’re the slide
(This meme was brought to you by the trumpet gang)
what name this Music?
William Tell Overture-storm
This is from a fellow pianist :)
Mil respetos
Damn perfect intonation
Now I want to see that, but giving the camera an automatic Vertigo zoom.
I play trombone with the trigger
I didn't know Matt King played the trombone.
My reaction to that information
Omg I’m not that good you did amazing
It felt like I was watching a movie.
muscle memory on point
Not me thinking there were flats in the key signature and saying “it’s not that hard” 😅
I was like wtf how? Until I realized it's still at 2x speed.
You know your priorities....
えっやばいめっちゃかっこいい
Сергей(ПРИШЕЛЕЦ),"АБИОГЕНЕЗ"🤘👽🤘👽🤘👽
This is a great vid and also begging to be used in all the memes.
I can't even do staccato eight notes
what did you use to attach the go pro to the trombone please
What trombones don’t tell you is that we don’t have any time to spend with a girlfriend much less the time to find one 😂😢
Guillermo Tell*
I don't get that title
What's the name of the piece?
william tell💀
@sp0rkb018 it is William tell overture, but to clarify, this piece is the second section “the storm”. So this piece is called “William tell overture-the storm”.
This advice is from a fellow pianist:)
What type of oil or creme do you use for your trombone slide?
what is the name of this damn masterpiece please bro
Part of it is written in the title of the vid : (“william tell” overture) .This part section in particular is “the storm”.
Fun fact, the articulation is probably the hardest thing...
The trombone and the trumpet are related. They are cousins.
