The lyric "if God is willing, we will meet again" is so personal as Freddie at this point has known he had AIDS for 2 years. The song was written by Freddie for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Montsy said "we will sing it together at the Olympics" and Freddie said no, I won't be able to be there. Then he told her of his illness. They were really close friends by this point and she said she felt that friendship especially because he told her.
She wanted to kiss him one day as a hello when she meeting him, but he told her you can't do that ,so that she does not get sick from the disease, and she kept this secret .
I loved that you mentioned Leontyne Price. My Mom listened to Leontyne's Carmen album while she was pregnant with me. I came out of the womb loving opera and especially loving Leontyne Price. When my mother passed, I took the cover of Leontyne's Carmen album and had it framed. It hangs today in my dining room and continues to inspire me these 62 years later.
I have never heard anything like Freddie.....A legendary pop rock genius,The author of the greatest rock anthem of all time "Bohemian" Charismatic, powerful, passionate ....Then he puts on a suit and tie, and stands on stage with one of the greatest Opera Divas of all time, and makes it look like he is simply out for tea and a sandwich.....Can you believe this guy .....The world will never again know a talent with the kind of musical integrity that Freddie had. You could tell that he absolutely adored Monserat too. It was nothing short of Angelic, and breathtaking . To top it all off , he co wrote the song with his long time friend Mike Moran..
Freddie did write the song for Montseratt because she is from Barcelona, and it was used in the 1992 Olympics. Love your reaction to this absolutely spellbinding song!!!
Freddie couldn’t believe it when she wanted to meet him. When he found the courage to ask if they could record a song together she replied, “how many songs on are usually on the album?” Freddie said, 10 or so, and she said “oh let’s do that!” So he wrote it & they did. What an accomplishment. Great reaction. 👍
2 of the most purest voices on the planet. Just shows the power of Freddie’s voice even against a world class opera singer. Sadly both are no longer with us 😭
Goosebumps and welling up and I’ve heard this song regularly for almost 30 years (since the 92 Olympics). Only great artists like him can want and be willing to take risks in their music cos let’s be honest, this isn’t your average pop song!!!!! It’s magical🙌🏼🥰
@@baddboyzoftexas3413 Please react to their live performance of Under Pressure @ Wembley. You'll witness Freddie controlling 90,000 people with his call and response. You'll see the master at work! This performance is the one without David Bowie in it. 😉
Freddie and Montsy, what a pair made in heaven. Two outstanding voices, made to sing together and wow us. And they did just that. Freddie could match her operatic voice, and as Montsy said his voice was of an angel but with an attitude 😁💖💖💖👑👑👑 And the 2 of you are my favorite boyzzz, you really are the best of the best 💖💖💖
I guessed when he found out she wanted to meet him he was so nervous he paced around in the hotel lobby and I guess they staying for hours at the piano and then she ended up staying the night and they staying all night I think in his hotel room if I'm not mistaken and then when she said she wanted to do an album with him when they went to record he wanted to impress us so much that he had fresh flowers put all over the recording studio and the bathroom redecorated for her in case she needed to use it LOL
Now that was his lower operatic voice, check out his soprano operetic vocals as he practices them In "Exercises in Free Love" I'm telling you, it's going to blow your mind that it's him singing. It sounds like it's coming straight down from Heaven, even though its just vocal tones and no actual words...it's INCREDIBLE!
This moved me to tears. Its like a sweet and salt ocean meeting. They are so great together. Freddie used to like going to the opera, the first time he saw and heard Montserrat he was thrilled! In an interwiev he said he liked her, she happened to hear that and wanted to meet him. And that was a match made in heaven! 🌈
A masterpiece without a boubt and a great friendship between Monserrat and Freddie. I'll keep asking for the reaction to Liar either live or the official video, but still I don't miss any video. Good video ☺
Aahhh .this was the Olympic anthem for the Barcelona Olympics ❤ have you read back story of how this duet came about ??? A true friendship and professional respect. Bless her she was heartbroken when Freddie died 😢
If you listen to „exercises in free love“, you’ll will be shocked that this is Freddie too. He sang it to show Montserrat that he can also sing opera. By the way, you’re reactions are great!
You should react to Freddie Mercury's Last Interview..in it he is so giddy and happy talking about her. If you look it up it is the 6 minute one...not the 20 min 1989 one
Yes yes yes thanks boyz for reacting to this song. Your faces said it all during it. I knew you'd both love it. Wonderful reaction. Next you have to do The Golden Boy, another masterpiece from Freddie and Montserat.
Freddie wrote this whole song and then saying it to her her parts as well he could get just a tire close to as she sang I guess she was very impressed in an interview I watched she said that many people adopt her to do duets with her after this and she set unless they're better than Freddie she's not ever going to do it again
Oooh I’ve been waiting for this.... Great reaction Boyz...you both looked like you truly enjoyed that, however, Rafael (hope I spelt it right), you had a look on your face I’ve never seen before... I could tell you really enjoyed that... as usual much love from Saskatchewan 🖖🏻🇨🇦💥🥰
