It's been 1.5 yrs since I've ridden. Picked up riding again in waves. This has helped me get back in the game mentally!

Great video, the slow motion helps. Just this weekend I got wiped out by a large (huge) wave. I kept the kite in the air but unfortunately I lost my board then it found me, right in the head. I needed seven stitches and two weeks off from the beach. Needless to say I have just bought a helmet for the next time I go out in the waves. I would highly recommend wearing a helmet, I learnt the hard way.

Very informative, and as as result I now have a firm plan of action when those waves come at me.

Awesome man, I wish I've seen it before, this is so important to get right in order to enjoy more the waves, I do it strapless and in the start I struggled and had to figure it out myself, but even now I know I got some nice insights that will improve my odds at hitting more waves in less time no matter the conditions. Thanks a million!

    Hello Toms
I just found your nice video today and will try to experiment your great advice to go slowly against the waves
On my favorites spots the wind is mostly strictly « on shore » so passing the shore break is always difficult and you must do it near the beach with their hazards
When waves are too big you only have 2 options, loose a lot from the wind or try a jump over the front coming wave with difficulty to get enough speed to do it. Do you have video to show this case, or advices?

Super helpful video thank you Tom - I sometimes go downwind crossing the wave and sometimes upwind and wondered if one was wrong, good to know each has its place. I also let the bar out a bit going over the wave which seems to help me stay on the board and balanced, is that correct?

Great video, would you recommend board leash or not on directional board in waves ? If you do recommend leash which length or a particular one ?

When I start off I can't gain the speed to plane and then going slowly through the waves I get pushed downwind so much and I can't make up the ground Ive lost. So how do i get through the waves and get upwind.
