    We love your videos! Keep them coming.
    The way you window is open to run a power extension cord in, must let cold air in. If there is something like soft rubber around, like a pool noodle, notch it for the cord. Place the cord in the notch and then place the noodle in the window opening. Close the window. Reduce the cold air.
    The paintings were great. So was the laughter.

    It's good to see you have got into a good routine. The lack of sun is very much a problem. We live in Sunshine Bay, but that doesn't mean we get sunshine everyday. I like you, have to be outside a good chunk of the day, whatever the weather.
    It's also good to have a release from the everyday. A good hobby, or we have a movie night a couple of nights a week and take it in turn to choose....make it a date night....it does wonders for the mindset. ❤

  • @Bushdweller

    I would guess that you are into the time period of getting up around 7 am or 8 am, but find out it does not get light outside until 9 am and then in the afternoon the lights go out around 3 pm and on goes the generator so you can lights to read or watch TV or youtube until you go to bed around 10 pm or 11 pm. Long nites and short days, that's what I remember from my days of living up in that area. Oh, and don't forget the long days of steady rain, which at least runs away back to the ocean which is better than snow that you have to go out and shovel. Keep up your spirits, spring is just around the corner when the days get longer and the weather gives you more sun. Merry Christmas!

    I agree with the person who said hearing you is difficult, even inside the lodge.
    I applaud you guys for doing this winter caretaking job. I personally could not be alone with my spouse on an island for months. So I have a practical question: if you get seriously ill or injured, do you have a plan for evacuation? I do t recall you mentioning that at the start of the series. Also, isn’t it awfully cold and damp leaving the bedroom window open for the cord to pass through?

    • @dmc2087
      @dmc2087 Месяц назад +1

      You would think this is backwards but by leaving the window open it will draw the warm air from the wood stove upstairs to the bedroom better .

    I started binge watching yesterday and I'm all caught up now! I'm really enjoying seeing that part of our country - you are so fortunate to be there, vitamin D notwithstanding! I have a couple of questions:
    1. Did the mouse traps work?
    2. Are you really out of vegetables or just the fresh ones? You must have frozen a lot of them, but it has been three months... I couldn't believe how much you had to do at the beginning!
    Thanks so much... see ya next week:)

      We’re so glad to hear you’re enjoying it! We love gazing out the windows at the water here-it’s truly mesmerizing.
      Yes, they do work, and quite well!
      We’re out of fresh vegetables now, relying on frozen and canned ones instead. It was a lot of work to prepare everything in the beginning, but being well-prepared always pays off!

      not really its more of a damp climate than a cold climate bears slow down and sleep a lot but there is still fish to eat and mussels to eat at lower tides , need to be more north or east and higher elevations for bears to hibernate , I live on Vancouver Island and I see bears all year around .

    Matt too bad you lost your drone, as it was a big part of your productions. Your on line, so it would be no problem buying a new one.? Is there any way you could get it dropped off. IE; Commercial fisherman, DFO patrol boat, CCG manned light station, Sail Boat? There must be something you can intercept going up the coast. Parts get delivered in NL like that. Also Emilie, your art work reminds me of a Maude Lewis. You should build drift wood bird feeders and paint them, you would make a fortune when you get back. Lol. Cheer's H

    • @Claysanas
      @Claysanas  Месяц назад

      We’re really missing our drone lately. There have been so many sunsets we wish we could share with everyone. It was also super handy for scoping out spots before heading out on our day trips.
      We’ve thought about posting on the Masset Facebook page to see if any fishermen come out this way, but we’re still on the fence about it.
      Ems has even been toying with the idea of making birdhouses. She used to paint all the time for work, but it’s been ages since she last picked up a brush 😆
