My son is a Green Beret. I was at Fort Bragg to watch him become one in one of the most honored and emotional ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed. He is a commander in commands six different 12 man Green Beret teams. Truly, these are America’s best. And I am so proud of my son.

So proud to have been the wife of a Green Beret. He was a good Beret, husband, and father. Still have his beret and silver wings. God bless our troops, and God bless America.
I remember this song from 1968. My husband now 76 was a Marine in Vietnam. He was a radio operator & ran through many rice fields both shooting and dodging enemy bullets always aiming to takeout those who call in artillery for assistance. Thanks to the Special Forces, Navy Vets, Marine helicopter pilots for answering that call! ❤
Beautifully sung and a righteous tribute to my friend, fellow New Mexican and writer of the song Staff Sergeant Barry Sadler. R.I.P. my friend! You died as you lived......honorably.
They are men apart! Not merely soldiers but great human beings. The best buddies and friends. I wear a wing and have been in the forces for 35 long years. A third generation in the forces. Unforgettable. Salute!
Our country as we know it is in term oil. Our troopers are all we have to protect all of us. Im 73 now . I was a 1968 Army trooper during the Vietnam war era. Thankyou to all who protect and served or are serving us now
The song came out in the late '60's and I'm too young to remember how the song was treated by the top 40-type chart they likely had back then. But I do recall, c.80-81, when I was a high school junior or senior, that song had been released close to 15 yrs before and suddenly, as I drove home in mom's Datsun B210, that song came on a.m. radio. I recall the dj saying it was being played to commemorate either upcoming memorial Day or Veteran's Day, I can't remember which. As a 17-18 yr old, I found that very moving. Haven't heard it on radio of any type since.
I served on an A-team with the 7th Special Forces Group at Ft Bragg (it will always be Bragg to me regardless of what the A-wipes want to call it). I knew Barry co/writer and original singer of the Green Beret Song, we served at the same time with the 7th group. It was a proud moment when I got my green beret. It doesn't stop there, your training as a team has just began.
My father was in the Marine Corps 1946-1948 served in China. My father was a true American Hero Army Airborne 1950-1962 fought in the Korean War was wounded in that conflict received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Army Green Beret 1962-1970 fought in the Vietnam War received the Silver Star and the Bronze Star. My dad my hero, love and miss you.
As a former Force Recon Marine I’ve always had great respect for Special Forces. I attended many Army schools and trained alongside these professionals. Of course there was lighthearted inter service rivalry, but for the most part the experience was rewarding and insightful.
As a US Army Airborne Infantryman Combat Veteran of the Panama Invasion and 1st Gulf War with the 82nd I served with some Marines in my unit at Bragg who got out of the Marines and came back into the Army who wanted to be paratrooper. Had a few in my Airborne class at Benning too. As you said, definitely light hearted kidding and service rivalry and all, but all good at the end of the day. They were good Soldiers who I was proud to serve with.
As an SF trooper back decades ago, we always "giged" each other, but to the Force Recon boys, the SEALs, the rangers and paras, ... to all the special units, I would have split my last canteen or mag with any of you.... and from all of us ground bound grunts, a special thank you to those Huey jockeys and their crews.
My father served 4 tours in Vietnam as an Air Commando in the Air Force. 20 years later when I enlisted, he had taught me to have the utmost respect for all of our special forces units in every branch: SEAL’s, Snipers’, Delta, Force Recon, Rangers, PJ’s and others. I took my try at the selection course for Para Rescue and didn’t have what it takes but was proud to serve my country as an EF-111 Crew Chief. I have several friends who have served either in one of the special forces units or in support of them and have nothing but total respect for who they are and what they do.
OMG!!!!Beautiful, clear voice and it made me cry for all those who sacrificed their lives. Thank you so much and I Salute the best men of this country!

In 1968, a movie Green Beret, I watched with my Uncle and this song stick in my head. I learned about how this song created and it is pure an American spirit. There is no song to compare with tears so much...how the American servicemen dedicated their lives to preserve the freedom of Americans and other free nations. God bless the Green Beret....
So very proud of my husband who I met in Germany in 1963. I was a young German girl of 16 and married him 55 years ago...he still is my American GI from America. I love his country and still love him. To be so lucky to meet, marry, children, still living in the greatest country and still with the greatest Army man I ever knew in the world.
I met my wife in Germany as well, but she was a soldier, like me, we married, had 4 great kids, 1 grandkid, she passed 2 years ago, I have many fond memories of her, and Germany, 2 of our children were born in Germany...........

Since the first time I heard this song back in 2nd or 3rd grade my dad was a music teacher. We had to sing this. I have never been able to do it. I'm 60 now and still can't. Just makes me cry.

The American whom I remember most and respect the most is US.Special Force E7 Henry (the French American) During an operation , my team was covered by the enemy. Choppers came to extract us but no LZ was pleased because of trees were too high. One chopper dropped out two strings on each side to the ground. My team leader (One Zero) Henry grabbed one string for him but I could not find one or myself. Enemies came closer and closer. My brave One Zero tighten my body to his body and asked chopper to take off. Guns fired at us from the ground. Finally were were brought to the camp PHU BAI safely. I admire the bravery and respect him till my last breath because I merely was an interpreter in his recon team.

My nephew just won his Green Beret. We are so, so very proud. He had already completed 4 years of service in the Marine Corp, sat out for a year last election because he vowed not to serve under Hilary. But President Trump won and my nephew said he had "more to give". And he is now one of Americas best. I pray every day for his safety as well as all our troops , giving so much for us. God love them.. USA and Screaming Eagles!!!
Has to be said, The Beret is earned not won and more importantly. WE serve our nation and people, not an individual. Or else , you just have secret police types following blindly. Recipe for disaster. i learned a long time ago in a matter of life and death; put your pride in your back pocket , people's lives are at stake. My black top hat off to your nephew. You have every right to be proud that you and your family provided him good guidance to be where he is. His achievements shine well on all of you.

One of the biggest regrets I have in my life is while I was serving in the U.S. Army, I did not join Special Forces... the Green Berets. Alas... we do not always make the right decisions in our life. U.S. Army, Ret. Texas
It does not matter Richard because you served your country. That is what really counts in life. I unfortunately did not get the chance to serve my native country of origin, the UK although I tried but was turned down. Why, I don't know!!!!! Anyway, I am now a long standing citizen of Australia. Anyway, all the best to you Richard. You got to serve, and that is great.
Thank you for this version however I will always love the SGT Barry Sadler version. US Army 1973-1979 Green Berets 10th Special forces. Any of my brothers or sister out there?

@@glendayulo5849 I was married to an Air Force officer, loved how he looked in full dress, camos, but you're right green berets so sharp and makes you want to salute and present arms.

Ein zu Herzen ❤️ gehendes Lied, das mich sehr berührt hat.
Spent 34 years serving in British Military. These guys are good it was a pleasure to know some of them. Well done you are among the best.
Such a Beautiful and Sad song! Thank you!
God bless all Solider the US Army 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
My nephew just won his Green Beret. We are so, so very proud. He had already completed 4 years of service in the Marine Corp, sat out for a year last election because he vowed not to serve under Hilary. But President Trump won and my nephew said he had "more to give". And he is now one of Americas best. I pray every day for his safety as well as all our troops , giving so much for us. God love them.. USA and Screaming Eagles!!!
This rises above politics... God bless your nephew. A testament to your family. You have every right to be proud.
You have every right to be proud but please remember that beret is EARNED never won
Thanks you all for your service

Assim existissem lugares que fossem obrigados os homend passar por severa disciplina desde muito jovens...domando maus impetos e dominando os bons meios disciplinares...tornando-os ótimos cidadãos...e porque nao as mulheres tb....discipina....Green Barets
That patch was the 5th Special Forces Group.

Great singing - great song.

One of the biggest regrets I have in my life is while I was serving in the U.S. Army, I did not join Special Forces... the Green Berets. Alas... we do not always make the right decisions in our life. U.S. Army, Ret. Texas
But you are still a hero. Thank you for your service sir in your country! Salute to you sir.
I wasn’t allowed to train ranger in Nco school
You still sacraficed brother god bless delta tier one still working
Don't fret my friend, you ALL played the same role in life, thanks.
Absolutely awesome and very beautifully done!!!❤️✝️👏👍🌹🌹🌹🌹🇱🇷🚚
My cousin was with the 7th then the 5th group.Outstanding troopers.I was a Marine.

Thanks for the reply Gary. I went to basic training at
Ft Knox Kentucky, then took my AIT training at Ft Jackson South Carolina before being stationed at Ft Devens for 2 years. My remaining time was
served in Germany at Meisau Army base 9th Special Ordinance Division. Seems like a lifetime ago now.
God bless and keep our military safe.
Longlive America,, especially to our soldiers..
I'm very happy to live in one of the most dangerous communities in the world, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
