I love this soundtrack, it’s truly amazing that a licensed game can have kickass tracks. Especially the one at 1:16:43, the most awesome final boss music i’ve ever heard
even though the 3rd one is the worst one on PC. It was the same for me, I loved the 3rd one the most, but having replayed, and 100% completed (all secrets + wizard cards) as an adult, I just enjoyed the first two more.
I like how you can see Jeremy Soule exploring new things in each of these Potter soundtracks. In _Stone,_ he focused on composing themes and moods, many that he would continue to use in the following entries. He didn’t have access to many musicians for that project, so he recorded most of the soundtrack himself on orchestra software. With _Chamber,_ Soule mostly dwelt on improving the themes that worked while spending more time composing new themes using the lessons he’d learned after the first game. While some pieces are less memorable, nothing sticks out as odd, like the first game’s “Phoenix”/“Gnomes” track (a great piece, but kind of an oddball in the soundtrack as a whole). Also, Soule had a live orchestra to record this time around, breathing new life into familiar themes and fleshing out the music throughout the game. What stands out to me about the _Prisoner_ score is the scale. While this soundtrack borrows the most from the previous games, the new versions and new compositions emphasize the highs and lows of the adventure. Big, sweeping themes; an epic choir; and more prominent, varied percussion heighten the drama in this darker plot. Elsewhere, slinky clarinets, moody cellos, comforting bassoons, and quietly screeching strings bring life to the quiet, tense moments.

The first three Harry Potter games and The Sims/The Sims 2 are essentially the definition of my childhood. EA had so much potential to produce some really amazing games because these titles are basically iconic pieces of video game history now. Such a pity the company destroyed itself by producing one shitty title after another.
1:14:12. Each of the first three games had a very distinct feel to me. The first one was super cheery and light hearted, the second one had darker tones but still felt mainly like the first game, but the third one really took on a darker tone overall. Love how the developers/composers really made the world feel darker/more mature as the golden trio grew up, year by year! The puzzles became harder, the spell challenges became more intense, now you needed all three to complete a single challenge! Especially with this song, giving me that “you’re not supposed to be in this “too sacred for yourself” area.” Finally it’s cool that overall there are traces to past games soundtracks in newer games(at least in the first three), making the worlds truly feel connected between games. PS- I played the GameCube version of all the games so I don’t know if this correlates with the PC/other versions.

the first 3 licensed games for harry potter honestly felt more like harry potter then either the books or moves, there was just so much wonder in these that the movies and books never really captured, even the new game falls flat in that area i feel, it might just be the soundtrack but honestly when i think harry potter i think more about those 3 games then i do anything else
40:05 is so dang nostalgic. That music paired with the giant Draconifors room in the Whomping Willow with the sideroom containing rings of beans is one of my most prominent memories of this game.

Sadly i didn't play the half blood prince, which is why i might be wrong here, but i think this was the perfect HP game. Not only does it perfectly capture the atmosphere of the old games, but it also makes exploring Hogwarts entertaining (which is where the PS1 games faltered). Looking for the wizard cards was fun, and changing between Harry, Ron and Hermione after traveling a long distance with buckbeak was glorious.
Phoniex order was ok but it lacked something. The goblet of fire went in a different direction but it was entertaining nonetheless, unlike deathly hollows that it was just awful. And Hogwarts Legacy has the best Hogwarts map but it doesn't do much with it: exploring is just casting revelio over and over until you find everything, the story is generic and the NPCs are just boring. Plus certain person came out as a very british bigot, whatever happened there.

The main theme is incredibly well-orchestrated for a budget video game. The brass instruments are playing it, then the choir enters, then it's reinforced with trumpets and the strings have a tremolo figure in the background. Jeremy Soule got a talent for orchestral music.
I keep thinking about this theme and having violins play in faster time than the brass section is something that Richard Wagner or Anton Bruckner would write. I really like this orchestration trick.
I got an Xbox in Christmas 2005 - my first gaming console - and POA was the first game I ever played. I loved it SO much (except for getting stuck on the dementor levels a few times) that I started playing it in other languages to shake things up a bit. Massive nostalgia ❤
Man the Hud Music In-Game is too fucking great, too fucking great! Listening to the magic cards narration as it plays in the background is truly a nostalgic memory
oh my god, that first track is beautiful. did he use a real choir? so much of this sounds like legit orchestral. is it? if so, that is amazing. I wish I could've seen the performance first hand.
Both the movie and the game are my favorites. For me I wont say overshadowed but I can see why some people choose it. It definitely matched movie's caliber. Listening to 'A window to the past' gives me chills every single time just like listening to the main menu music of the game.
The real crime is that Jeremy Soule’s work for the first three games isn’t on Spotify.

the Hud Music so much epic , for this goofy 3d platform game.
Im so glad i still have my game i got when i was 7 years old. Played it again last year
1:20:56 sounds like Harry on winter, from the Harry Potter and the goblet of fire movie
Wow... Usually I don't cry when hearing a song.
The dragon spell level with Hermione has such a beautiful music, I almost cried as a child, it was so moving. ❤️
So much memories i loved this game so much.
I adored this game when I was younger 😭
Man the Hud Music In-Game is too fucking great, too fucking great! Listening to the magic cards narration as it plays in the background is truly a nostalgic memory
Thanks you so much for this video !! Good job !
oh my god, that first track is beautiful. did he use a real choir? so much of this sounds like legit orchestral. is it? if so, that is amazing. I wish I could've seen the performance first hand.
+Dimitri irtimiD Actually, he did. It says so at 1:26:36
Yep, the first track is incredible. I’m in tears.
A S H Oh, yes, first track is the best
To my eyes, it is totally fair to say that the game soundtrack overshadows the movie's, with all due respect to John Williams.
Both the movie and the game are my favorites. For me I wont say overshadowed but I can see why some people choose it. It definitely matched movie's caliber. Listening to 'A window to the past' gives me chills every single time just like listening to the main menu music of the game.
Exterior Wander Rain, right at 45:36 touches my god damn soul
just realizing jeremy soule music has been my childhood.
Harry Potter 2+3, Guild Wars, The Elder Scrolls Oblivion...
Shit myself at 32:21
Lol the Peeves music
Isn't 48:15 the menu song from the 2nd game?
+Maryssa Dennis Yes, it is.
+Maryssa Dennis a lot of it is.
Yes and this the theme of Dumbledore office
And that song “ambiance” is so BEAUTIFUL
Bro, that Hogwarts Neutral Orchestral takes me waaay back. I love it
