I'm watching today, 2023, 4 years after you published this and I'm so glad I found it now. My brother is a retired vet & I'm going to do this for him. BTW. he's 91 years old! I love this one. Truth be known, I love them all and the way you teach is so easy to follow. Thank you.
I was today years old when I realized you have a grip of free outlines on your site. I was combing through them when I came across this gorgeous bald eagle ~ I'm about to explode. I've definitely found this year's Father's Day project! *ALL* the thanks!!
Thank you so much for affording us this opportunity to learn from you without cost. That is appreciated so much, and then also your encouragement. I just cannot believe I painted this. Sitting here looking at it shaking my head. I don't believe I did this. Where can I share it??
My favorite tutorial yet! Also, I found some of the trouble shooting discussions and demos extra helpful in this one. This is the piece where I finally think I learned that the brush needs to be full of paint, NOT water. Thank you for these tutorials!
Sarah thank you so much for your wonderful classes I found you on July 18 th and have painted 18 of your tutorials I so look forward to doing a different one every time I finish one. Please do the tutorial of the zebra. I have the outline and I’m just waiting
Yay!! Thank you so much for joining us, Margie! That zebra tutorial is coming up very, very soon! And you can check out our entire upcoming calendar of tutorials right here: www.letsmakeart.com/pages/calendar
Awesome eagle, Sarah!! Such a beautiful rendering of a majestic bird! I would have been too intimidated to try it without your help. My sister and I were surprised and delighted to see an eagle recently near our hometown in central Ohio. Such a treat!
Great tutorial- I painted it for my son who's growing fast and is all ready 6foot 6Inches. I call him my man boy and always tell him when he foes out you are like a fierce magnificent eagle with no prey - but even the biggest eagle has risk. It can swoop up a whole spring lamb but if a horned ram is close by it could surprise the eagle and rake its flight so he must have good decision making when out and manage the risks that are out their so he doesn't loose his flight in the prime of his life full of dreams and limitless potential. He thinks I'm weird but gets the analogy and this painting will be very special for him from his weird mum
I've been looking forward to this one since I first saw the picture, but now I'm even more excited! This is gorgeous! Can't wait to paint it. (Maybe later today!)
i am a new subscriber, and i just wanted to say thank you so much for what you do, and how you are teaching me how to watercolor paint, i love the fact that you provide the line drawings as a lot of us i am sure can not really draw, i really am so thankfull for that, keep up the videos, keep doing more, i will be working my way through them
Your explanations are spot on! Everything was so much easier to understand, especially shadows and layers. You are an excellent instructor! One thing though, it is helpful to hear Keenan's (or whomever is behind the camera with you) responses when you banter. Otherwise, it seems like you're laughing at nothing. I mean this as a positive love-filled critique!
I appreciate when the picture of the subject is in the camera’s view, as it is around 8:33. 🙂. And where you had graphite outline at the top of the head, do you go over that with the blue-ish color that is in occasional swishes in the top of the head?
Wow.. I traced it and as I was tracing I was thinking hum. this will be interesting.. but you make it look so easy. Excited to do soon.. Also since I don't use tracing paper but watercolor pencil to trace image how would you do the top of the head so it's not the black line? Would you just use the light very light blue to give the head top?
So I am thinking I did so well time one I need to paint this eagle again. And I'm going for the colors and wow it says on bottom DANDILION YELLOW. the bottle same I get to directions it says .. daffodil yellow yup. Mine any ways. Lol I'm sure tem million peeps have said. Now is ten million n one. Anyways this is pretty when done and cuz fourth is soon here I figured I would do again. Happy painting to u...love ur work!!!
Love the Eagle, have noticed in your tutorials that you end the session without really holding the piece up for us all to study the final piece. Just a thought.
The ratio of pigment to water will determine how saturated it will appear on your paper. More pigment + less water will result in rich colour saturation. Less pigment + more water will create weak washes.
Yes, there is an outline for the Bald Eagle project. If you click the link below and then scroll to the "B" section you'll find the Bald Eagle outline. www.letsmakeart.com/pages/lets-make-art-outline-library?Social&

When Sarah got her face in the close-up, I laughed so hard I had to stop the video! This one was tough and so fun! I did it today, on Memorial Day.
We love that you painted this project yesterday. Happy to hear that you enjoyed this project!
The camera loves you Sarah AND you are a great teacher. It all adds up to a very enjoyable learning experience.

If I erase the outline on the top of his head, how will the form be seen?

The Wha wha wha cracked me up
Their calls are actually pretty weak for how wicked/cool these birds are! But oh well!
Great tutorial! Thank you. I do find your talking to someone off camera distracting. But, still... great tutorial!
