This helps me tremendously! I saved a latoria type den from lowes and had no idea how to care for it. It has blessed me with 3 new growths that are about an inch in size right now.

Loved this Orchid!!! I just picked me up a Den Spectabile (also known as the Octopus or Alien Orchid...so use your imagination) about 3 days ago....One of the most wildest, craziest blooms I have EVER seen!!! It is so wild that it doesn't look real! It is not yet of blooming age...but one day...one day...and together...me and this Alien creature shall take over the world!!! LOL!

My goodness, what a beautiful plant. I love the bloom. I tried to write down the name. I hope I got it right. I would love to have one. Thank you so much for showing it and telling us all about it. Just beautiful!

This is a Den. alexanderae x. Den. hodgkinsonii in case you didn't get the name ;) I also recommend Den. spectabile. Very similar flower to this one, but more twisty looking. I plan on getting one for myself!

Thanks so much. I almost got it spelled correctly. Now, if I could only find one! Not much around here in southwest Missouri.

Looks like the stem and leaves of Australian Dens. I would like to see a hybridof this with Aus Den and with Den spectabilli.

Yay, thanks for this post. Like PictureMaria1, I, too, have a Den. Spectabile that I got at a society meeting. It only has two canes and I think it may have a way to go before blooming, but it's been hard to find info about how to care for it. You know, sometimes the hardest part isn't finding care info (water, sun, etc.), but just finding photos of the entire plant including roots and base. It's hard to know if I'm doing the right thing when I don't see many examples of the plant as a whole. Your video made me feel a lot better about my plant.

    Hallo from Norway :-)
Is this dendrobium similar as Den. spectable? The flower was very much the same....

Pia Orkideer - norsk gruppe Yep! These are in the same section of Dendrobium so your Spectabile is indeed a Latouria type Den :D
