- In today’s video I’ll share the care and culture for Dendrobium Latouria Type orchids. I find these extremely easy to grow. They like consistent moisture and are warm growers. The blooms last long and are very pretty. I transitioned all of mine into LECA, and I’ll be giving an update on how things are going.

Not a lot info out there, on this type of orchids....so this is appreciated 👍🏼
Thank you.
Thank you! It made a full recovery and I'm happy to report that it's full of blooms right now. 😊
Hi Nicole. My bare canes on my latourias do bloom and the same canes will rebloom for more than one year. I love how resilient they are. Thanks for sharing this video. -kim
Thanks for watching ❤️
I loooove my latourias! I am addicted to this type of dendrobium. Super easy to grow and keep happy and pretty consistently in bloom. And the blooms and fragrance are very pleasant especially my atroviolaceum. Three of mine prefer moderate to low light and three need moderate to slightly high light to bloom 🤷🏼♀️
I think I've uncovered a new obsession :) I really like these too! They are establishing so well. Chocolate chip unfortunately went through some trauma, but the other two I have established roots so quickly, I can't wait to see the blooms. I think I'll be getting more soon ☺️
@@NicoleDeanna I agree! Awesome plants and totally obsession worthy!
Very good information. I will try another latouria orchid again. I have never been lucky with these orchids.
They aren't too fussy and generally do well if kept warm. They are quite vigorous too, I think the second time will be a success ☺️
Such a lovely orchid and bounced back really well! :)
Take care.
It really did. I'm impressed with this one. Hugs 🤗
Loved this video. I was so impressed with this orchid, I just ordered one of my own. Please keep us updated as to how those bare canes progress.
So much great information.
I'm so glad you got one! It's very hardy and I think you'll love it. I'll definitely keep everyone posted :)
I have the same one but, four times the size. Some of my leaves also yellow. Mine blooms often. Blooming now in December.
Great job. I’m in the waiting for mine to bounce back stage. Mine dumped all its roots and I’m babying it in Leca for going on 6 months now. I should check the roots but I’m Leary. It does have new growth though. I love the cinnamon smell of these flowers.
I waited to repot until it pushed new growths and roots and I think this is what made the difference. I wouldn't touch it, if your have new growths, that's a great sign it's establishing. The flowers are enjoyable 🌹☺️
@@NicoleDeanna I found two little flower spikes on mine after you inspired me to go check.
@@michelleslifeonrepeat 🥰❤️ woo hoo!
Latourias are very beautiful. I have been hesitant considering my space inside in winter is getting short😬
I completely understand. These like it warm, so it can definitely take up precious indoor space. Thank you so much for watching amiga!
Hi Nicole, can you do another update on your latouria orchids. I have a chocolate chip and a nd a little Norman. There is one more I want, which is micro chip with atro. Little Norman has buds. The chocolate chip had blooms. Now it has buds.
@@lisaallen7219 I actually don't have many of these any more! They didn't like semi hydro 😭 they do much better in bark + moss, anything they can consistently get wet dry cycles. I was sad to lose my chocolate chip, I really liked that one! I'm glad you have buds on yours!
@NicoleDeanna If you want another chocolate chip, Yoshi and Esty have chocolate chip.
I have found that these dens hate being repotted or any big change (like transport). They tend to yellow and drop leaves when this happens and they can pout for quite a while. A year ago Jan. I got an order from Atkisuka (sp?) and my fire wings had a little cold damage, then I repotted a few months later because the new growth were outside the pot. Well, it flipped out and lost most of the leaves over the next 6 months, dropped all it’s roots and new roots would rot. I chopped off a few old growths and they had the purple ring! Pitched the whole thing. A few others that I got in the same shipment that didn’t need to be repotted are doing much better.
Oh no! What a bummer! That F ring is the worst!!!!! I'm glad the rest of the orchids are doing well. What you described with the leaves is on point! They yellowed very slowly and are still dropping months later. I find the roots are establishing better than expected though. Thanks for watching ☺️
So you have two, one for you and one for mom. 😃
I actually only have 1. When I wrote to Akatsuka I only asked for them to replace the oncidiums. The chocolate chip didn't show cold damage for a long time. It was a sloooooowwwww burn lol. Either way, I'm ok with it, it's a bit set back, but I'm thrilled it's blooming. Maybe in the next few months I'll get more buds. On another note... The cold damaged oncidiums are doing great under my mother's care. Lost many leaves, but pushing new growths and looking good!
