    Where have you been? No diagnostic videos posted for many months. Great to see you back. I was surprised that you didn't spray penetrating oil on the threads before you loosened the bolts, and also that you tightened the wheel bolts clockwise, rather than doing the opposites, ie 5, 2, 4, 1, 3 on a 5 stud wheel. The torque wrench just showed the wheel bolts were tight, but the airgun might have over tightened them firstly. Electric cars aren't selling well in the UK, so it's good that you stopped making videos about repairing them. Great work, thanks.

    Another great video Dan!
    Even if you think they are common or regular servicing items, because people do it differently, there's always something new to learn or new discovery to be made. For instance, on this video that plastic rotating brush fitment to clean the aluminium part was a really good tip. In conjunction with giving a once over regarding the importance of SST (Special Service Tool) in certain tasks will educate young mechanics and DIYers - extremely vital and very basic but often overlooked.
    Many thanks once again for your excellent work and generosity in sharing the vital knowledge with us.

    I don't work on to many European cars right now, but watching you I feel more comfortable dealing with them. There is only one shop around here that works on them and since the owner passed away they haven't been the same. My customers that do own them are very patient and don't want anyone else working on there car including the dealerships in New Orleans 60 miles away. Yes definitely more videos on mechanical repairs, and diagnostics, maybe more videos per week, although I know it takes a lot of time especially with the great video quality you produce. When I was 13 years old began working at my dads tire shop. We were taught always tighten lug nuts using a star pattern. Did that method change? I love the video. I learned how to remove and replace these type bushing with a specialty tool I didn’t know existed. Thanks for all you do Dan!

    • @MrSteve6343
      @MrSteve6343 4 года назад +3

      Personally and I do not want to pick at the work yes I agree with the practice of as you put it a star pattern to tighten a wheel. It prevents the wheel snagging at an angle. I also think the snap on electric gun if you check in fact over tightens the wheel bolts even with only letting it dugga dugga a couple of times, they are far to powerful on bolts like that. The torque check at the end ought to have tightened the wheel bolts up more to the correct tightness. It only clicked due to it being at the correct tightness or beyond it already. From my experience it will nearly always be too tight. I would also recommend to the customer we did 4 wheel alignment although it was marked. If the customer declines then a premature worn tyre is not able to be blamed on us. Still enjoyed the content as always don't like to knock what you do just feel it is always good to get feedback whichever way it is.

    I've seen countless mechanics/technicians over the years tighten bolts with the suspension hanging down in the unloaded position .
    This is OK for the bush you've just replaced as it's more like a ball joint but not for the rubber type bushes which you know will fail again in a very short period!

It always reassures me when the wheel nuts are torqued up properly with a torque wrench and is more important with alloy wheels.
