Finally, this is my last video on The Red Deer Rut 2021 and I am so relieved to have finished all the endless hours of watching one video capture after another back and all the editing involved! And hearing the Deer roaring has been equally as tiresome! Do you put a sound recorded down in the field? The audio is so clear and nice and loud. I love listening to them. I back played the video to hear them again and again. I know I’ve said this in your other Deer videos,, I have never seen this happen here even thou we have Deer. I can imagine how happy you were filming and editing this great footage. Hello Brenda and Chris, I'm glad you felt more relaxed, as insomnia is so hard on your body the next day... and I have suffered with it since 1998 when an operation went wrong. Any sounds are straight from the cameras microphone. I did buy an external mic, then realised it was the wrong one (more for close vlogging) so bought the correct one, but then there's a fault with the camera after it fell and partly smashed on a rock, filming the Deer, (argh!!) .... on the first day of trying it out! Sadly the 12 month insurance had just ran out too, so a double whammy. I was sort of nervous each night before and totally excited each day en route, but always happy on the days spent filming and watching as there is hardly ever a dull moment there! Thank you as always for watching and for your wonderful comments, which I always enjoy reading. *Big Hugs* 👍◕‿◕

That was amzing to watch. So many stags in such a small area, he didn't stand much of a chance of protecting all of his hinds. It was interesting that he didn't seem to want to take on the big stag which was trying to constantly mate. Maybe he didn't want to risk injury over one hind, when he had all of the others to protect?

Well spotted on 'Blondie' noticing the big Stag that was openly trying to mate with one of the hinds, but deciding against challenging him. I was tempted to comment in the sub-titles on that, but it would have been too much to read as the video played out. You are exactly right in that Blondie knew that he'd probably lost that one hind and he had many more to defend. Also, whenever Blondie went chasing any other Stag away, others would grab the opportunity to move in from other angles. Poor Blondie, only five out of his prize harem, but wow, I had to go back and read the subtitles as I was watching your captures and overlooking the explanations. Excellent editing and you had it packed full of action throughout! And now you can get caught up on you, LOL, less important things 🤣🤣🤣

Hi Cheryl, with his harem right in the middle of the hillside, once any hind went into oestrus, it was always likely to draw the challenging Stags closer. But with several in oestrus, this was always going to happen, and to be fair, Blondie defended incredibly, and to keep hold of 5 hinds was, I think a good result. I hope he and his hinds moved somewhere that was easier for him to defend. I tried to keep the subtitles on the screen for as long as I could, but as you say, it is easy to miss part of the footage when reading it. I'm glad you paused the video to read the story behind it too. That is what I always do when watching others. Yes, once you get on top of RUclips, there are all those other chores and things to catch up on, in between collating all footage and editing 'the next' video, but if you manage to get 30 seconds spare, pamper yourself, LOL *less important* LOL. Hello again Lyn, yes, it was truly hard work for Blondie, but he still had a few hinds when I finished filming on my 5th day. it was so strange being able to recognize several individual Stags and locate them again after a week had passed....
