  • 20+ Testosterone fueled STAGS in an Action-Packed Battle - scattering the hinds & creating a mass Free-For-All on the hillside of the valley. The constant Roaring from so many Stags actually helps to bring the hinds into oestrus and ready to mate. I did capture 7 different scenes of the Deer mating in this sequence, but unfortunately, due to RUclips policy, I have had to cut these scenes, or RUclips will age-restrict the video. I have added the audio from those missing 4 minutes or so around the (cut) mating scenes.

      Good morning Rosco, yes, the Stag was ever busy in this mass free-for-all. I was wondering when it was all going to calm down, whilst hoping it didn't, lol. It was so crazy and there were a few Stags behind me on the opposite hillside, also joined in roaring and getting lively at that same time. I was there again yesterday, for my final time this season and things have calmed down considerably. That same Stag has a smaller harem of around 6 or 7 hinds and the rest are scattered about and it looked like most of the Stags and Brockets (new word to me) had disappeared or were perhaps laying amongst the bracken. Thank you as always for watching and for your sincere and kind comments my Deer friend and good luck over the week ahead if you are out in nature 👍◕‿◕

      Hello to you both, crikey, I don't respond to posts and other newly released videos for just a day and I have hours and hours worth to catch up on!
      It's been raining badly here too. I saw a window in the weather yesterday morning so went out locally to try all the best ponds and waterways to search for a Kingfisher... again. Boom!!! I managed to see one and follow its direction as it flew off, then caught up with it and managed to film it. It's not great but there's a certain satisfaction when you go after a particular Bird and then actually film it. I LOVE to see them tho'. I'm also doing more exercises at home... have you tried that '8-minute ab workout'? It is a good workout but some of it I tailor to suit as it gets to my back and legs if I overdo it.... even just 8 minutes. hope you get out tomorrow :) *Big Hugs*

During the winter I still walk but on tough days I do the videos. Ohh a King Fisher is Chris fav bird. I’ve never got good footage of them. I hear them and sometimes get a quick glimpse but that’s it. That’s so exciting you found one. So happy for you. Never feel pressured to reply. I totally understand getting week behind myself. Today we are having a NE Rain storm with high winds coming. So I haven’t walked in the woods and tomorrow will be bad weather too. I’m going to film a cooking video. Have a great night HUGS 🤗

      Hello, again my Deer friend. I was there again yesterday and it has all calmed down. I could only get there once a week, so obviously missed so much, but from what I have seen, for me, this very scene was the absolute best time and place to be for this season's Rut. The noise the Stags made was just incredible and reverberates in the valley. It was truly jaw-dropping. I had to cut around 4 minutes or so, from what would and should have been one long, uninterrupted video with 7 or 8 mating scenes. I saved the audio from that and added it in bits. 90% of the roaring is exactly as it was and not dubbed in and 100% of the roaring happened when filming this particular video. Some came from behind me too. The audio was quite 'hissy' with the full camera zoom used, so as I usually do, I used a 'reduce background noise' thing and went with the 'medium strength' option. It removed most of the hiss, but made the audio sound a little bit like it was in a metal bucket? It is hard to describe, lol. I have over 100 video clips to watch back now and once I've done looking and editing etc, I may put out the full uninterrupted 22-minute long video, and those that are able to view it can do? I'm not sure tho' if I would have to use the 'self age restrict' option or just wait for YT to tell me off and do it when someone groans about it. What would you do? Thank you for your valued comments, my Deer friend. 👍◕‿◕

    Hi, my friend. Thanks for this. Staying a top Stag involves a lot of work, keeps them fit. Keeping the others at bay and rounding up your potential partners. Well done with all these great shots. A fabulous location you have there 👍. All the best, Don 👋

    • @WildlifeBirdsUK

      Hello again Don, absolutely, the Stag always needs to look in tip-top condition and has to show no fear and have as big a roar as possible, often booming it out to impress the hinds. I know in Scotland, you have some amazing locations. I like the Leadhills drive near the Solway coast and the Highlands, in general, are spectacular. As far as England goes, I don't remember ever visiting anywhere quite so beautiful as this location, though I imagine it being totally different in the winter. Fascinating the number of "stories" being told! You're doing a great job with that long zoom, keeping the characters in focus. Seems like he stags have their territories and the ladies are chased at times between "men" looking for some escape! I like the hind that fought back --- hahaha!

    • @WildlifeBirdsUK
      @WildlifeBirdsUK  2 года назад

      Hi Cheryl, indeed there were stories left, right, and centre and it was super exciting to watch and very tricky to try to keep zooming into what appeared to be a story with more going on 'live, at that time' of filming. I would be zooming in and watching my small camera screen, but also watching the whole hillside, over the top of the screen, to see what else was happening and being ever-ready to zoom back out, to show the overall picture. Yes, the Stags are all over the place and ready to chase each other away, but their absolute quest was to try and split a hind or two away from the group and the protective Stag trying to keep them together. And yes, the hinds will fight too and are very feisty. Thank you for returning to watch my videos and for your full watch and sincere comments, my valued friend. 👍◕‿◕

      @@WildlifeBirdsUK Your explanation of the quest of a stag now explains more why some were cutting in and being chased off. In this days it is hard to spot mammals in my zone and a brief glance is already a joy. This been said, You showed me 17 minutes of their lives with so much energy moving in the air!!! I understood very well what You wrote me in Your last reply: poor Stag, how hard it was! With so many young and veteran Stags even the hinds must have been confused!!! Hello, my friend, yes it is totally to do with the right to mate with the hinds, but they have to be able to challenge the Stag who has these hinds in his harem. Straying into what he sees as his territory will trigger a fight if the intruder isn't first chased off. The Deer in the UK have no natural predators but are controlled by culling. Yes, the P1000 has been a really good camera for me. I just get confused with all the manual settings of a camera and everything I film is done with Auto/Bird/Sports settings. It makes things so easy, though I know if I could understand all settings, I could improve on certain things. Thank you for watching and for your interesting comments and good wishes. 👍◕‿◕

    What a free for all.....Too many females and males running around the hillside.....Reminds me of the Friday nights at the local watering hole back in college.....There's no rest for the weary especially with all the territory crossover!!

      Hello Wes, indeed there were too many all concentrated in this area. It doesn't take much at the height of the rutting season and was more than likely just one or two females coming into oestrus and their scent driving the young Stags wild. These sort of gatherings of Deer have been compared to similar to your 'watering hole' back in the college days before, lol. Someone else said when the hinds are all in a gathered group, that it reminded them of the girls in the nightclub, waiting for the boys to arrive. These comparisons make me laugh. Thank you, as always for your great comments Wes. 👍◕‿◕

      Those Pigs are so nice, but sadly I live many miles away from the New Forest and I have never been there. I would love to live closer and be able to wander through there and film the nature within. Thank you for your visit. 👍◕‿◕
