    As much as we want to like the new Crown, it seems like this car was very much an experiment to test the market for Toyota of Japan. The bones are good, but the execution needs some work! The good news, most of the powertrain and interior design should make its way into the next generation Camry coming for 2025!

      There’s no reason to like the crown
      It’s awful. It’s DOA. It’s outdated
      It isn’t even better than my 2020 Camry XSE v6. In fact it might be worse
      This is just one of the many examples where Toyota continues to phone it in with their newest models

    • @mervinprone
      @mervinprone Год назад +4

      That’s exactly what happened when they redesigned the Avalon. The 3.5 V6 initially appeared in Avalon in 05 then made its way to Camry for ‘07. I can’t imagine they’d be stupid enough to eliminate the V6 without replacing it with something comparable. Camry Hybrid Max, coming soon.

    I’ve got the Platinum bicolor red. For all those who think the bicolor is ugly, I get complements on that color and styling every day. For some reason, most people are really impressed by that combination.
    I’m disappointed you didn’t mention the self parking feature on the Platinum.
    I’m 76, short and it is perfect for me. Smooth ride (could care less about sporty ride), plenty of power for passing, it’s height is great. I can’t stand the low height of most sedans including Lexus today. I keep getting curb rash on lower height cars, plus the 360 camera is very helpful for parking.
    It’s very quiet and the safety controls, cruise control, etc. keep me out of trouble.

I would definitely look at this car when shopping for a new vehicle. I am just glad Toyota still makes a sedan. I keep hearing how much more room crossovers have and it is nonsense. The majority of these little cross overs are no roomier than a nice sedan. The only way you get a more substantial amount of room is when you get the large cross overs like a CX9 or a SUV like a Telluride and even then if you use the 3rd row in the CX9 it turns your cargo area into nothing. I have a nice full size Cadenza that is spacious and comfortable with a really nice size trunk that can hold all the luggage for a family. As for the seating position that so many people love about cross overs, most sedans come with fully adjustable driver seats that allow you to sit as upright as you want. I personally hate the seats in cross overs and SUV's. Yes its a rant, every time I read a new automotive article some car company is cancelling a sedan and its frustrating . It is to the point i am not sure the reviewers even understand the massive shift from sedans, and yet they constantly remind us every review that we apparently hate them and love SUV's, to the point they question why carmakers even make new sedans. Stop asking why, its because a lot of people still love a good comfortable sedan. Doug Demuro is the absolute worst when it comes to his degradation of sedans, UNLESS its a Mercedes or BMW he seems to be ok with those even though most people cannot afford to step in to a Mercedes dealership. I am a big guy I do not need to sit high, I can see just fine in my compact sedan that I daily drive, yes, I know some people need SUV's, but like pickup trucks most people who drive them truly do not need them.

With respect to your review midsize sedan segment have step down interiors compared to this. I go to multiple car shows a year so this isnt internet trolling. Its a 45k to 50k interior when you consider the whole product. Full size car, awd, good mpg, and quick enough in plat guise. The issue it has is enthusiast as a group dont understand the car because theyll compare this to g70 or 3 series ignoring the size difference and feature content. a $50k+ flagship sedan without a heads-up display that cars from the same brand $10,000 cheaper have. otherwise its very close to what im looking for. i like the mildly increased seat height that makes it easier to get into, and higher seat height in traffic but is still easy to park and handle like a sedan. sporty, sleek styling. great MPG vs decent mpg and more performance depending on what you want. better interior and ride comfort compared to a Camry. but i really, really, want a HUD which this doesn't have for some stupid reason when the Avalon did.

    • @sentryion3106

      Its a weird omission, but I don't think it should be a deal breaker. Also with polarized sunglasses HUD becomes kinda useless.

    • @Masrafi
      @Masrafi Год назад

      @@sentryion3106 im sure for many people its not a big deal, but personally i just really want one. i also think its weird because many of its competitors do have a HUD and at $50k it should at least be an option, a $30K car i totally understand not having one. the accord has one (with integrated android auto navigation in the HUD too), camry, sonata, venza if u want a true SUV, and lexus es/rx all have a HUD. its like the only one at this price point, besides true compact SUV's like the tucson and sportage, that doesnt have a HUD.

    • @naveenthemachine
      @naveenthemachine Год назад +1

      The comfort isn’t really better than a Camry. Nor is the performance despite having more power and torque. In fact the crown hybrid max has the same 0-60 as a v6 Camry. Even though sofyan got a faster time it’s not really a huge difference in the real world. You could get 5.6 seconds on the Camry on a good launch
      A Camry offers a heads up display. And oddly more interior space than the crown

    This thing has been such a disappointment since they first showed it. I thought it was ugly, but I will say it looked better in this review than what I had seen in pictures. That is one bland interior for $55k. It needs to either be faster or more fuel efficient with the hybrid max to justify the cost. 5.2 to 60 while getting something like 37/39? Ok. 4.5 to 60 while getting 30ish? Sure. Instead it's kind of mediocre in all areas. How can the new Prius be so good and this be so meh? I wonder how well it responds to hypermiling.
